The Mandalorian Season 2 Emotional Finale REACTION - THANK YOU DISNEY AND LUCASFILM!

This episode just gave me everything I wanted from the new era of Star Wars. Luke Skywalker is my hero and this moment is what I've been dreaming of since I was a kid. Thank you to Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and all of the people at Disney and Lucasfilm that brought this incredible moment to life!

@@Ragnarswe we aren’t talking about Disney, we’re talking Star Wars. As far as we’re concerned, John and Dave are not a part of Disney they’re a part of Star Wars, and they are (with an amazing cast and set of directors) saving the reputation of the name. If Disney stays out and let’s them do what they want, I think we’ll be ok.

To me this episode retconned Luke Skywalker for one it showed Luke to be the Bad ass we always wanted to see and in his message to Din about protecting Grogu with his life . Could set up why Luke was so broken after the loss of his students. He may have promised their parent's or guardians the same promise he made to Din . Not being able to keep that promise is enough to break any man

@@yeniczek What do you consider a "really good" piece of literature? War And Peace? Animal Farm? Hamlet? If so, no, none of them are on that level. But they're still worth it if, unlike you, you don't already dislike them. I like them all to a certain degree, except for Splinter Of The Mind's Eye, which I'm happy to ignore. My own favourites would be those featuring Kyle Katarn and I place a lot of value in the Junior and Young Jedi Knights series', for kids.

the idea of making Luke lose faith int he force is a bold idea for a sequel Luke..the problem was the execution of it, it came off as lazy and SUPER CAMPY! A better way of making Luke lose faith in the force is maybe, han and leia suspect Ben is turning to the darkside, but Luke having turned Darth Vader to the light arrogantly trusts in the force, this time it doesnt pay off and ben is sdeuced by the darkside, making Luke lose his way and severs his connection to both the trust of his friends, family and the force making him go to exile but NOPE, instead his reason is "NEPHEW MIGHT BE EVIL...MUST..KILL..NEPHEW IN..HIS..SLEEEP!" "MUST...DRINK..ALIEN..TITTY"

We did this enough times until the shop owner just gave my dad the original trilogy. That feeling of wonder and excitement was something that disappeared after my died passed away. The prequel trilogy didn't have that magic nor the sequel trilogy. Seeing this singular episode was something special for me. I sat at the edge of my seat hunched forward and excitedly consuming every second of this series. I felt things I hadn't felt since I was on the couch with my pops watching the original trilogy. For a lot of us, Star Wars, was a bonding experience with our dad. Specially being a woman, for me (as the oldest kid in the house), was very important. My dad is a very quiet and reserved man and Star Wars was our moment. Years after, I get to have the same moment, with my brother, who was much more younger than I and who can't conect like I do with my dad. So, I introduce him to Star Wars, and there was another hardcore fan. With The Mandalorian, we both get to do the same, with my nephews. Three generations crazy about it. So, I totally feel this reactor at seeing Luke (he was a lot of more calm than I, who screamed my pulmons out 🤣).

I know it can't always be easy for a dad to bond with a daughter because of the gender divide we have created as a society BUT that is another conversation entirely lol storytelling in any medium has always been a bridge for people whether it's a father and daughter or two tribes trying to barter for food and land. Storytelling connects us and to hear some executive who is completely out of touch say that it's out of place to be emotional about a story or character is obviously out of touch.

I was not optimistic at all when this show started. I figured the mouse had killed off the thing I loved as a child so much. That my last memory of seeing Luke was the abomination in the 2nd mouse film. But Friday night as I sat with my daughter, it was 1983 again. For a few minutes, I shared a child like wonder with my kid, taking in every scene, holding back tears. For a time Friday night, there was no mouse, no new trilogy, no fighting, arguing, nothing. There was Star Wars. Nothing more. That thing that has captured our imaginations and hearts for 4 decades. That bounded total strangers, broke language and culture barriers. Don’t know where it goes from here, but we had Friday night

He got me into Star Wars and I wish he could see this! Right now I'm all alone, but I really hope they have Disney Plus in heaven so our fathers can watch it together! :) God, I still tear up at the force ghost scene in Episode 6, it was by far the favorite scene of my father. When I watched Star Wars alone (I watched it almost every day as a kid :D) I just had to cry "Daaad!" and he knew what was up, or he recognized the Victory Celebration music and came over to watch the ghost scene with me haha :/

Please, true Star Wars fans, THANK Filoni and Favreau. We've waited 40 years for this moment. We endured the destruction and shaming of Luke in TLJ, knowing, above all, that Luke is a TRUE hero, a man of virtue and kindness and faith. Luke does NOT give up or give in. In spite of all, even Yoda and Kenobi telling him it was impossible, Luke overcame the Emperor to bring Anakin back. Luke IS the Light side of the Force; in spite of his power. The Mandalorian understands this. The danger was corruption, temptation from power. Luke has overcome this. He can use Force powers most are not able to resist because he is PURE. We can quibble all we want, but this was beautiful and fitting. I'm still in shock. THANK YOU! And, to me, Din IS the embodiment of the Mandalorian ethos. He is young and naive in his journey, but he is a man of honor, a true warrior. He should not be shamed or "replaced" with Fett as many say [I love Fett returning to his roots in the extra-credits scene]. Mando is a special character and I appreciate the show and what he brings just as much as the redemption of Luke. I'm so f*cking happy.

  • @sleepnaught

Agree on all points. Luke represents the purest form of the light side of the force. From the time he was a kid on Tatooine and until this moment in Mandalorian, he was a kind hearted, selfless person who always put his family, friends, and mission above himself. Like you said, he never gave up or gave into despair. He believed there was good in every person, no matter their past. And that no one was lost forever. That's the Luke I know and love from the OT and in Mandalorian. I, too, hope Din stays on as the main character for season 3. After all, he made a promise that he will see Grogu again. He will not break that promise.

I agree with you on almost all points and I certainly am no fan of TLJ....... however one of the few things that does ring slightly true to me is the old Luke we saw in TLJ. My experience in life has been that no matter how awesome a person is in their prime, age ruins everyone in the end. Show me a single person in elderly years that isn't in some way or another a pale shadow of their younger selves. It's just reality, Luke in his 60s is just (at least realistically) not going to be the rock of confidence and control that he was in his prime starting around RotJ and the following years. No doubt that Luke in his prime would never go into hiding and be bitter. Middle age crisis is a real thing that most men go through. To see an elderly Luke with no flaws as if he's in his prime would have felt like a comic book character......however as I said even though Luke wasn't a problem for me in TLJ.....I hated so much other stuff in that movie anyways

Standing in line, staring at the movie posters outside the theater with wide eyes begging the line to move and the show to start. For the first time since Jedi, I felt that again as I watched this episode. When the X-wing flew past, I went silent. When the b/w screen showed a light saber I got hopeful, when the green saber showed in colour I was a kid again, and when the cowl pulled back to show Luke I was soaked in tears. THIS is what Star Wars is, for all the Kathleen Kennedys of the world who would instead use the franchise just as a vehicle for their agenda...this touches the hearts and minds of fans who connect with the humanness of the characters and the wonder of their stories. Favreau et al deserve applause and thanks for what they did in 2 seasons, and arguably, one episode, to give rebirth to an entire intellectual property that was rendered impotent after three 'sequels'.

I cried too pal!!! I'm 45 years old and I was crying my eyes out at 7am Friday morning...my brother was like are you serious, and I was like yeah!! For the guys my age we hated the new sequels mostly for how luke was treated!! We never got to see the Jedi master that we grew up!!!! People used to say to me, why did hate the last jedi? What did want It to be like, what did you expect? Well, THIS!! what I saw from luke in 3 minutes toward the end of the mandalorian, was exactly what I wanted to see!!!

You do not have to apologize for the tears as I had them streaming down my face as well. Not only has this year been hard on so many but it has been personally tough for me as well. Having these 8 episodes to enjoy for the time it took for the story to develop helped me escape my own hellish time. The show also takes me back to the joy and wonder of when I was a kid and loved everything related to Star Wars.
