    I have been watching all the reactions I can find for the last 24 hours. There is one thing they all have in common. The viewers are moved to deep emotion, even tears, as they realize what they are seeing. I think that the fans, especially the older ones like me who grew up with the original trilogy, had a deep connection to the character of Luke Skywalker. They saw that character as a role model in their childhood. Luke was an example of the kind of person they wanted to become. Now we are adults and we want to see ourselves as the sort of people who have grown, mastered ourselves, and now seek to pass on what we have learned to the next generation. Thank you to the creators of this great scene, and to the reactors who let us experience it all over again.

    Personally i especially enjoyed the reactions of the fans that are "less nerdy" as in, the type of fan that did not immediately recognize or had analyzed the story/movies/canon beforehead. Like for example the ones recognizing that this must be Luke because only one person is flying 1 X-wing because they usualyl fly in squadrons, and only one person with a gloved hand and that type of clothing and a green saber. and so on. The reactions always seemed to be so much more surprised. I loved it.

    This was the Luke the fans wanted to see. This was a version of him that Mark Hamill honestly deserved to showcase in the sequel trilogy. It’s too bad that got robbed from him, but it is good to know that there are still important play-makers and shot-callers behind the scenes that know how to tell a SW story.

    Great acting and directing. The transition from smugness to pure terror was perfectly done. Gideon almost certainly knows about Luke Skywalker. He probably knows that Luke defeated Sidious and Vader, though he would think Luke simply killed them in battle. The brief scene where Cara and the imperial officer taunt each other about Alderaan and the Death Stars is relevant here. As a true believing imperial, Gideon would not see Luke as we see him. He would see Jedi as unstoppable killers bent on overthrowing the government and taking power for themselves.

    Well, Moff was an ISB officer. He knows everything, as he said. Once they said "A Jedi", he KNEW who the f*** it was. *THE* one that destroyed the original Death Star, defeated Vader, and was the only one that came out alive from facing the Emperor. Also, seeing the guy easily tear through an ENTIRE platoon (about 50 or so) Dark Troopers, after confidently stating how bad-ass they were, had to cause him to crap his pants.

    If you look at the title card for the Ahsoka series it has the symbolism of the "Veil of the Force" from Rebels, which strongly hints that the rumors might be true, that they are going to use this plot device (which centers around alternate universes, etc) to RESET the sequel trilogy so that it basically didn't happen, or at least didn't happen in "our" universe, so that they can REDO the sequel trilogy the right way, hopefully with Jon Favreau, Dave Faloni and others from this show running it.

  • @stt5v2002

    @stt5v2002

    3 жыл бұрын

    I think this series and this episode are pretty good evidence that they know. Disney won't just come out and say "we did it wrong." That just isn't good business and it would only cause more problems for them. But things have changed and you can see the difference in every episode of The Mandalorian. They even went so far as have Luke Skywalker say "talent without training is nothing." It was as clear a message as you can send to the fans who questioned the writing choices in Episodes 7-9. Forget what they say. Watch what they do. And if they are getting it right, let the past disappointments go.

    Don't be sitting there giving JJ Abrams a pass. He was part of that shit-fest too. That third TURD movie didn't make itself. And no, he wasn't boxed into a corner into making a crap movie by The Last Jedi. He did the same thing to Star Trek, by the way.

  • @Mr.Ekshin

    @Mr.Ekshin

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@Cbricklyne - At least in Star Trek, JJ did his movies as an homage, and set them in an alternate timeline so as not to screw with canon. And I do think if they hadn't brought in Rian, that the trilogy would have been much less damaging to the Star Wars galaxy. Not saying JJ was an "ideal" choice either, but compared to Rian's dumpster fire, JJ's stuff was at least partially watchable. But in the first minutes, as ep.8 began, Luke casually tossed that lightsaber over his shoulder. It was then that the blood rushed to my head, and all I could hear was a loud flushing noise... as 40 years of character arc swirled away into a dank sewer.

  • @Cbricklyne

    @Cbricklyne

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@Mr.Ekshin No. It was ALL crap. You're just trying to give JJ an out. The Star Trek franchise is for all intents and purposes dead because of his stupid Kelvin Timeline crap. They can't even make a 4th movie now because there's no ways left for them to write themselves out of that nonsense. He came into Star Wars and did pretty much the same thing. Simple question : Is The Rise of Skywalker a good Star Wars movie? Yes or No? Rian had nothing to do with that shitfest. That was all Abrams. I'd even argue that Force Awakens is likewise shit, that's nothing but empty crap that's derivative of much better and far superior Star Wars movies and that simply blinded and fooled a lot of lazy thinking people into believing it was a good movie thanks to nostalgia and an orgy of lazy fanservice. Strip it all away and you get the usual standard Abrams/Bad Robot shitfest explosion-ey nonsense soul-less movie.

    I think the reason Bo didn't tell Mando because she didn't think it was necessary. She expected that Gideon would be on the bridge while Mando went in to save Grogu. So she thought that she would be confronting Gideon herself and get him to yield the saber to her. EDIT: Also, Giancarlo Esposito's performance really made this episode work. The way he went from pure, smarmy evil thinking he had control to shocked, desperate, defeated when Luke showed up was top notch acting. The payoff isn't nearly as satisfying if Esposito doesn't deliver in the acting department.

I mean how much more clear does one have to get for people to understand that the First Order has not been founded yet and the destruction of the second Death Star was relatively recent event?

I suspected it was Luke as soon as the X-Wing showed up, but I doubted it until the very moment he walked through the blast doors to meet Mando. Despite all the obvious clues up until that moment, my mind was consumed with “there’s no way this is happening” lol

    Mark (Luke) stated on his twitter day after this episode released. He knew about Luke's appearance on Season 2 of Mandalorian over a year. Mark was contacted by executive producers, Jon and Dave on some ideas of Luke making an appearance as they were in pre-production for Season 2. They used a body double similar to Mark's when he was young in original trilogy. Double was an actor named Max Lloyd-Jones. CGI crew superimposed younger version of Mark Hamill something similar to 1983's Return of the Jedi. This timeline for Mandalorian is about 5 to 6 years after collapsed of the Empire, and Rebellion now New Republic trying its new government in the galaxy. When they are restoring government, factions of Empire are hiding in the outer rims of its galaxy waiting for their time takeover the galaxy. By the way, Mark Hamill dubbed Luke's lines.

    This is 1 of the greatest scenes ever & not just saying that as a star wars fan either. I mean from the way MG reveals that the dark Saber can only be won in battle so it makes u think oh no theyre about to fight or the season is gonna end. With that it explains y it was easy for dinn to win it was all MG's plan so he can try to turn them against 1 another since he knew he was outnumbered.But then they switch it to a new threat with Dark troopers boarding ship. Then as theyre breaking the door down the build up of the music indicating something big is about to go down just when all hope seems loss u see an x wing then Cara says sarcastically oh 1 x wing great we're saved not knowing thats all they need. Then how they did the scene of Luke making his way thru all dark troopers not only showing how strong he is in the force & light saber skills especially crushing the last 1 but also how they filmed it how at 1st its in black & white so u can't see the green Saber then how they dont show the face so although we all expect & want it to be Luke we can't 100% confirm it. Because although it is the robe Luke has in return of the Jedi other jedi could wear it I mean from behind it looked like it couldve been ashoka until the green Saber was revealed. Not to mention the little things going on throughout the scene like grogu sensing Luke & his ears perking up or the fear in M.G who up to this point was still chilling even after being captured. Also how grogu communicates with Dinn without saying a word but Mando knows exactly what he's saying a
