Yes! I love how much there relationship has grown and touched the hearts of so many people in just one season. If this is how we feel now imagine how it will be in a couple seasons? Or maybe he’ll have to leave the baby and we’ll all be sad with him. I get the feeling that in season 2 or 3 there will come a time when Mando has to make a decision similar to episode 3 of this season. Leave baby yoda for his happiness, or hold on to him for Nando’s happiness if that makes sense. Or something similar.

The fact that Mando would die to make sure his baby boy was safe and well taken care of makes my heart melt and also makes me kind of sad. These 2 have saved each other’s lives multiple times and as a result foraged a bond that goes beyond even that of father and son. They will be forever tied to each other even if baby yoda is left with others to be trained for a time. They will always come back to each other. He knew Mando’s ultimate feelings towards him before Mando did.

Like the exciting thing about the Mandalorian is it has such an emotional basis with the ronin-like, lone wolf warrior breaks from society to stay true to his code and in doing so he brings his trauma to justice because the Child has the same past as he does. And that's not even reflecting the super structure of the story with the imperial remnant and the New Republic, the other bounty hunters and so on

It’s indirectly Japanese. The mandalorian is 100% an old fashioned western in every way. But those old fashioned westerns take a lot of inspiration from Japanese folklore and cinema. So as a result the themes seem Japanese but that’s not the intension. That’s just how the tradition western setting evolved.

  • @GeorgeSemel

@@andomitor8 It's pretty much The Searchers, Shane, High Noon, 7 Samurai, and the Magnefiencet Seven, broken men looking to find their place but finding their own humanity in the process. The quest and redemption story is as old as we are. What the filmmakers here are really telling us is that Fathers are important and are not as expendable as our modern society suggests that they are. All you have to do is to read the comments made on this subject!

teejay Trujillo Don’t do it man. Stand firm. Disney doesn’t deserve your money. Really disappointing to see that, after destroying the OT characters, all Disney has to do to win fans back is make a show about a bounty hunter and his cute sidekick.

I mean seeing it in the trash like that really hit you in the feels about Baby Yoda's fate but I wish the Mando could have gotten it working again.

Wait until December 28th, after the finale, so you can binge it. The episodes are pretty short. My boyfriend finally sat down and watched all 6 episodes in one evening. To be honest, $6.99/mo is a bargain for a streaming service that has every Star Wars movie/series, every Marvel movie, Pixar, and every single Disney movie. It helps to have some of the Star Wars movies available, too, if you're interested in more backstory. My boyfriend hasn't seen all the movies, but he didn't need much context to understand The Mandalorian.

I saw some article somewhere of a person talking about how 6 episodes in and they are bored because it's too repetitive and the plot hasn't changed. They said it's the same old: Mando flies to a new place, hides away baby yoda, accepts a new mission, has a couple shoot outs and then repeat... But I don't think every story has to have a deep plot or anything. I think it's really nice to just see Mando travel through the Galaxy and protect his little guy from danger while meeting new people along the way (like the lady who fixed his ship and prior to that, the lady at the village who asked him to stay)

We now know that Mando isn't a young man and from the age of his smuggler friend in the prisoner episode, he's probably in his 50's. The job with the infant seems to be the last straw. To me it seems like Mando has been having misgivings about the guild and "the life" in general. Like all things star wars, stories come full circle. The Mandalorians used to fight and kill Jedi. Now he will protect this force user. Age has tempered his more brutal nature and blossomed wisdom seldom seen in Bounty Hunters.
