That's the irony of Thiel's rise. He doesn't have coding skills but have an eye for tech talents and unicon companies. He is one man the media is afraid to cross his line. He gave people a different perspective to monopolies.

Ironically, dropping out itself has become an outcome of mimetic desire. It's become fashionable to do a startup now. People want to do it because everyone else is doing the same.

People are getting wise to the fact that college (at least in America) has largely devolved into a corporate scam.

That's what I was thinking, I think the video messed up by saying to drop out.

The paradox is people, that spontaneously saw memetic desire before they heard about it, can thrive. Whereas those that heard about it first can’t fathom the power of it.

So in Sumup: we were driven by mimicking desire. It has three major problems 1.Our behavior will be unsustained 2.Almost hard to quit this desire 3.Cause violent between people how we can get out of this, is by DROP DOWN from all the measurement matrix (gpa, money, etc.)

I read Rene Girard's book without knowing that he was the inspiration behind this whole kingdom of desire. Or maybe yes, Google itself suggested it to me?

Dropping out to prove you can is called altruism. It's the same mimetic desire, just in reverse...lol do wtf you want to do because suffering is really a result of worrying about what others will think about your behavior.
