A surprise to see Ladd play an artist (!) .He had one of the best screen voices along with Holden ..Carolyn Jones was also a surprise. Good character performance.
Very satisfying film, as you'd expect from a Reginald Rose script directed by Michael Curtiz. Alan Ladd often had an air of vulnerability about him, which comes to the fore here and is very effective. Carolyn Jones also turns in a good performance.
