At home,you could try "Baked Ricotta" or light fried Cypriot style "Haloumi" (in olive oil) - also,both very tasty 😋. I remember "Bobby's" in a Nissen hut - those were the 'good days' 🎶. I dont remember that far back..But I went several times in the 70s always packed, I just the atmosphere in there with all that old stuff I feel at home ...lol 😂

Hi Steve another fantastic video and a lovely looking restaurant. Its called Bobby Land it bears my name. I shall have to visit it next time in Malta on holiday to have something to eat and a soft drink. I will need to take a selfie of myself with the sign in the back ground. The host was lovely and the food looks delicious and what a nice looking place to eat.

Lovely place. We first went there on our first visit to Malta many many years ago, as we were staying in Bugibba and we went on a special bus trip around Dingli and the lovely villages, we had a lovely meal there,. The views are to die for. We went again a few years later when we hired a car, boy that was another story. Keep them coming.

Like I said in the video it was a place to go weekends in the 70s but it get so busy weekends ...I love the old memorabilia, my sort of place

I remember some happy evenings with friends in Bobbyland. The food was great and they used to have a roughish but wonderful red house wine, which lifted the spirits. (I'd be a lot more careful with it today, as an old crock.) And the people, staff and other customers were great company. A very good place.

Well said! I agree, maybe I wouldn't go weekends and public holidays most resturants and very stretched and then its hard to get a good service, But I liked the menu and lovely atmosphere

Hi Steve.....what a splendid light lunch.....absolutely delightful.....can you remember what it cost ??? My background eats a lot of fried cheese. Czech/Slovak.....but its rather more unhealthy....largely fried in ubiquitous lard....and usually Gouda/Edam type cheese.....pepper gbeinit must be really nice....was it expensive..?? What a nice woman the owner is Best Regards....Peter

Hi, Yes been there many times, food is good and the lady owner is lovely and very helpful. The last time we were there we were sat very near where you were and all of a sudden the wind started and then the rain as it does sometimes in Malta 😆 the lady came out to us and insisted we go onside out of it and she carried everything in and sat us in a nice window seat with a view, she really looked after us she was so nice, although we have seen her there before it was the first time we actually met her. Great restaurant but weekends extremely busy. Great views also. Thanks Steve your cheese looked yummy.😋👍

Always visit bobbyland for food when..in malta. Took 2 friends there last September...they said it was the best meal they had since arriving on holiday....better than the hotel food...👍👍👍

Yes Its a bit hard to get to ten mins walk from dingli bus stop !

I have family in the state of Vermont, in the USA, when I visit them I am lucky enough to be able to stay with family, makes visiting much cheaper, not having to pay for a room, just like when I visited Malta last time. Although with all my family moving out of Vermont, I will have to eventually rent a room when attending class reunions, or when visiting a friend of mine in Vermont, I was checking the room prices for Vermont out of curiosity, and the best price I found was about the same price as getting a budget hotel room in NYC, unless I'd get a room over 1 hour away from the people I know in Vermont, and I can not drive either, and so I'd have to hire a driver back and forth each day, if I did not pay a high room price. Inflation is so scary, to see a cheap state like Vermont get almost as inflated as NYC, in such a short time. When you had a pizza at Bobby Land, was it a long time ago? I myself love a good pizza, here in the USA it can be very hard to find good pizza, unless you live in a right area. The only way that I ever remember having cooked 'Ġbejna', is Gozotian style ravioli, speaking of ravioli, I see 3 ravioli options on that specialties menu, and 3 different ravioli options on their regular menu, that and the pizza, that to me is plenty of great options! The way that I understand it is that 'Ġbejna' was invented in Gozo, and originally it was made with sheep milk, in Malta they have their own versions of 'Ġbejna', not really the same thing, in Malta it appears to me that 'Ġbejna' is usually made with cow milk, and I think that I have even seen a goat milk version in Malta. As you probably know there is an aged version and a not aged version of 'Ġbejna' as well. I am certainly not fond of black pepper so I prefer a non black pepper version of 'Ġbejna', yet if there is only a black pepper version of it offered to me, I will just eat less of the cheese, since I can only eat so much black pepper. Like I could top the cracker with less cheese, or I could put something else on the cracker besides just the 'Ġbejna' to tone down the black pepper. I think that if there is fried ice cream, and there is, that you could make just about any cheese fried. Just as long as it's not a spreadable or a liquid cheese. I think that mozzarella would be a great cheese for making that way, mozzarella sticks can be so good, yet fried like that 'Ġbejna' probably even better. Oh I am not sure about Malta, yet here in the USA panko bread crumbs can come with spices already in it from the factory. Bobby Land does sound like a restaurant out of my dreams, so to speak, not only Italian style options that I'd love, also some Maltese traditional options as well, all that without scary prices, at least not by today's standards! As I can see they actually have burgers too. I wonder what they have available for breakfast!

Hey Alan, yes its very nice place, dont remember when I had pizza there, been before covid i guess, most restaurants now have to offer differant types of food, I would have thought the pizza a good seller unless the chef cant make ? who knows but it nice memories of that place

@@EnglishmaninMaltaAfter I posted this, I had seen recent photos of their pizza, and it seems to be great quality. Some of even the best places in Malta do cook frozen pizza, although even those can be very good sometimes. The photos I have seen don't look like frozen pizza though.
