    Attention Jordan Fans : thank you all for proving my point.. you really think this is a sports video😂😂😂. I don't care about Jordan or his stats- I care about celebrities using their status and public image to get away with being creeps.... You're in love with the Jordan Myth, not the man. That's "the power of branding"

    Then retitle your video from "power of branding." To "off court behavior." Because your content on the games themselves have enough misinformation to confirm you never watched them.

    I disagree with you on Jordan's status not being completely earned. Jordan entered the league averaging 28 points as a Rookie. On his 2nd season he scored 63 against the Celtics in the playoffs. And that game followed up on a 49 point MJ game. In MJ's 3rd year he averaged 37 points a game the entire season. This kind of NBA performance was unheard of since 1960s Wilt Chamberlain. And while Jordan's *team* did not win, you ignored the context of the skill of his teammates. Chicago Bulls arenaa were generally empty and failed to sell any tickets until MJ

    Yes, several of Jordan's teammates don't like him. But have you checked their stats? Few of them even averaged double digits. Scottie Pippen entered the league averaging just 7 points. Playoffs were 1 sided with Jordan averaging over 40 in the first round, but losing to Pistons because they triple teamed Jordan and those Bulls players missed open rounds

    @@user-cx1ej9mq5dI read this book, and didn't like it. He implied Jordan's "undeserved godlike status" was due to marketing and winning a championship in an expansion era. Which means he never watched Jordan live. Jordan's godlike status began in 1986 with his performance against the Celtics. It was like nothing people witnessed before. It had nothing to do with Nike commercials. And the season after 1987 MJ's performance was arguably the best in NBA history. Since Wilt. It had nothing to do with Marketing. MJ was so far above everyone at the time

    Michael Jordan's pre-championship performances are statistically the greatest NBA performance in history, only topped by Wilt Chamberlain. Marketing has nothing to do with it. If you take basketball-reference and average Jordan's 1984-1990 performance, you can understand that no player in the league came close to that. Except Wilt Chamberlain. Go ahead, ignore Jordan's teammates being benched and forgotten the moment they played on a team without Jordan. The only teammate with success without MJ was Pippen. A 15 points per game player (at an inefficient 40% field goal percentage.) You can say MJ won against an inferior Lakers and Pistons in 1991. But there is no one that would say any player on those teams were better than MJ. As early as 1989 most people pointed out that putting Jordan on any other team (except Bulls) would of likely have lead to more championships

    So let me get this straight, you spent 20ish of the 24 minutes of this video trashing Jordan in basically a glorified SA PSA when he was never accused of SA? Why didn't you spend all that time trashing Rodman, who is by your own admission your favorite athlete of all time, since he has a number of SA allegations to his name and has even paid out at least one settlement? Let me guess, because Dennis Rodman in the title doesn't drive views like Michael Jordan. This is ridiculous!

  • @geminikid609

    While I respect your essay and your research even agree with you when it comes to the power of branding. Why you didn't bring up Rodman as well? I know he is your favorite you mentioned it twice so far in your videos. It just seems like your message gets a little muddled if you dont put your bias to the side like you want everyone else to do for the sake of the victims. Still good work on the video.

    Goat or grift??? Zero basketball credibility from the jump. MJ came in with an olympic gold a national championship and a player of the year before he ever entered the nba. He was an all star before jordan brand existed. He was already him. @@ABERESEARCHUpon watching the video, I disagree. You imply Jordan's status was purely due to marketing. But in reality, Jordan was already the best player in the league in his 3rd season when he averaged 37. Infact, no player has even averaged that much since 1987. Not even in today's faster paced era. So imagine how it was for people at home? Jordan, a player coming out of nowhere and averaging a whole 10 points more than the 2nd most highest scorer in the league. Pistons: thetoughest defensive team in the era yet Jordan still averaged 37 against them in the 1980s. Multiple 7+ streaks of 40+ point games. For everyone watching on TV, Jordan had God-like status. There was no player like him. Magic Johnson and Larry Bird: the greatest players during the 1980s already argued Jordan was the greatest ever at that time. No amount of marketing can change what Jordan was doing in the 1980s.

    @@ABERESEARCHDuring the 1980s, Jordan was far above other players. So far above that a debate wasnt worth having. This was also the case until around 1998 when MJ was older

  • @VanessaWong-yi5pe
    @VanessaWong-yi5pe3 ай бұрын

    Jordan did not score the most on the 1992 Olympics. You mention that with zero context. Dream Team won by over 50 points. Jordan's playstyle was mostly doing tricks to wow the crowd (almost like a globe trotter) while Barkely took the ball in and dunked it. In the actual NBA season, MJ outscored Barkely. In the 1993 NBA finals, Jordan averaged 41 points against Barkely. A player averaging 41 in the Finals is not something markering can make up. That has not happened since the 1960s. Obviously Jordan will have god-like status
