Great Video, Mark Elder is so enthusiastic!
Great video! Incredibly much detailed work to each measure. And with fantastic results!! Done this way, Rossini becomes spontanously dramatic and alive. Exciting!!!!
Sutherland was always my ideal in this role, even though Bonynge cut the score quite severely. Certainly , it's a masterpiece and I enjoyed performances at Pesaro in 2003. Darina Takova a very impressive Semiramide. The orchestra does sound interesting here though I must add.

If there is a contemporary soprano out there who can sing it the role of Semiramide better than Shagimuratova, please let me know. I cannot think of anyone

My dear ! Yes I am crazy! But I’m not deaf !! And I don’t like the voice ! The wobble and I hate her attempt at coloratura!

CRAZY COW - I agree with you! I suppose Russians will accept peanuts for payment which is why they are engaged by so many impresarios!!! In New York there are so many Russians in the roster they are changing the name of the company to “Metropolitansky Opera”!!!!
