"John Patitucci recently teamed up with bassist Mike Chiavaro and drummer/producer Otis McDonald-best known as the the rhythm section of King Canyon-to create “Put It Down,” a five-minute funkfest that recalls such Bay Area icons as Herbie Hancock and the Headhunters, and Tower of Power. The bubbling track pivots on Patitucci and Chiavaro’s dual bass line conversation, soon bolstered by McDonald’s deft drums and percussion, and augmented by his clavinet and saxophonist Daniel Casares’ twisty horn arrangement. The three shared their thoughts on their debut collaboration." - Bass Magazine (September 2023).

WOW! I was lucky enough to see John Patitucci, Oz Noy and Mike Clark at a wine bar in NYC. That was around ‘16-‘17. What a ride!

Oh, man... this video gave me *big* smiles for multiple reasons. Of course, anything with John gives me a reason to smile because he's one of my bass heroes and my desert-island bassist, and also a nod to my other hero, Herbie, plus props to the Bay Area which I'm kinda partial to 😁, and an acknowledgement of Daniel who's a great player and a great guy. Plus funk just makes me happy, plain and simple 😎. And I love the way you guys just had a conversation. Yeah, this was really fun! Thanks for sharing this, Mr. Patitucci! Gonna listen to the track now.
