wow this production looks amazing!
I have just found your series of "make of" videos. Love the mix of modern and traditional staging. The wonderful Fairy queen entrance! The cheerleading fairies! And the amazing voices. My first show ever in 1970 was Iolanthe as Leila and it has a very special place in my heart.
Sadly cannot find the complete HoustonGNS production on KZread or on DVD. Congratulations Private Willis - despite the criticisms here on your uniform I felt your diction and your singing and those of the Chancellor rivalled those in the professional production in 1982 with the Ambrosian singers. Loved your live performance extracts rather than dubbed film. Even prefer HoustonGNS to the BBC Prom! Well done the whole cast and production team not overlooking the excellent video too with superb clarity from principals and chorus.
Another great performance from Houston and another GREAT video from Ms. Taylor. Thank you!!
Great apart from Private Willis. Have you ever seen a British Grenadier Guardsman?
This was fun to watch. Congratulations on a great show!
Hi Josh, Good show! I stage managed some of the shows you appeared in with Lamps., in the last century... JK J
Try "Major General's Inspection of Nijmegen Company Grenadier Guards - March 2012"
Musically it's a delight. But there are too many heavy footed "dainty little fairies" who should be banished for turning into un-english cheerleaders. The costumes of the Chancellor and Private Willis were not authentic. Was there any effort to explain who Captain Shaw is when the Fairy Queen addresses him?
