I've been sewing for 50 years and have always struggled with the collar. Sometimes it comes out OK, but more often it doesn't lie flat, curls the wrong way, etc. Most instructions say to cut the undercollar a bit smaller, but that alone is not always the thing that makes it lie correctly. I followed your video on basting the interfacing to the undercollar to make it roll before stitching the upper collar and voila!! Perfect!! I will be watching your other videos, too. I'm not a tailor, but there is so much to learn about construction techniques. These are not techniques for throwing together something overnight. But, if I'm going to go to the trouble to pay for good fabric and sew a garment, I want it to fit perfectly and look great. Thank you!

Stumbled across you videos a while back, and I'm now an apprentice under a tailor, but sometime he is busy so I don't get much out of those day but other days I learn a thing or two, I was really hoping for some pointers since even he said he might not be around that long as he is very old and that was the reason he initially didn't want to take me on.

Very impressive work. That vest you have on is very cool. Your own work ?

Great info, thank you so much. Do you have any suggestions for a decent, cost effective iron for pressing? Not looking for fancy or tons of gadgets/options, just something that works perfectly for pressing. Would be very grateful for any help from anyone! Thank you!

I don't use those heavy irons anymore. Since I opening my school I switched to gravity fed irons. You can pick them up on Amazon for about £60.

Thank you! Yes, I’ve noticed heat tends to do more harm to fabric that not

The collar stand is usually 1 1/4”. So measure that out from the neck point.
