Wish all clarinets were unstained... in the beginning shot with the bell and body being machined is truly beautiful wood.
Beautifully made. Thank you so much. You have all given so much joy to many people throughout the world - God bless you all - Bill - UK

I'm not sure if you were being serious or not, but what he was doing was a test. He was seeing if there were no leaks in the instrument while he was blowing air into it. It's actually an effective way to see if a clarinet has some issues or not, and I'm glad Buffet does this with their clarinets.
Oh make this very same video again in 4K please!!! Its so pleasure to watch it!!!!

Well this looked pretty good up until the end. So after construction, assembly and fine tuning and testing they put the horn in a protective case then over load the instrument compartment with a cleaning rag and swab and jam the lid down on the horn? That'll knock it out of regulation in an instant. Use the dang accessory slot for that stuff!
I was here because I was looking up Buffet clarinets. A little research on what you are going to buy never hurts. If you haven't noticed, the video is not about the Mozart Clarinet Concerto, but about clarinet production. By habit, my computer was muted and I didn't realize there was music playing until I read your first comment.
Beautifull. I am delighted with this video. Thanks so much.

I would love to have this job!

poderiam postar a fabricaçao do clarone ,embora ja saibamos que seja quase igual.Poderiam mostra essa fabricaçao? could post the manufacture of the clarone, although we know that is almost equal. Could show this fabrication?
Just thank Tanzania for having African Blackwood trees from which the instrument is made. Other tonewoods have been used with success, but traditions are hard to break. All those jigs and machines in the workshop do most of the work, but some clarinets come out quite a bit better sounding, and no one can predict why. My R13 cost $280 when I entered High School (plus tax). Now I see the TOTL going for over eight grand. I guess it's a bit better... I have to say they're (to my eyes) very beautiful objects. Except for the original thumb rest (!), which caused real pain after awhile. But the Buffet sure improved my playing.
Wow

Who is the Buffet Artist playing Mozart's K.622 on basset clarinet ?
I don't think Handel wrote an solos for clarinet (This is actually highly debated, but no proof has been found that he has/hadn't. Some solos that are said to be written by Handel are said to be "un-Handelien" or from unreliable sources). But you made your point. Although I can debate that the age at which you start learning an instrument and performance level are only loosely correlated. Hence, not all clarinetists that start in middle school are the same level by high school.
At what stage and how was the body painted black?
Someone please tell em the name of this solo!!! I played it in high school and can’t remember.

Hi! My Evette clarinet made by buffet crampon says D8XXX for the serial number. made in France. do you think this is a good instrument? B flat. wood. sounds nice. plays well, I think... the notes are very accurate, but I am no expert. I bought it at a yard over the weekend. never played before that! haha.
haha, I'm aware, I do the same thing!

Adding linseed oil so they can oil the bore inside (dipped oil in feather and the cloth spreads it evenly)
Bored, shaped, drilled. Posts and rods. And the making of the keys. See, my dad was a professional musician, and he tried raising me on clarinet. And I sucked-seriously, I was born nearly atonal, and with little mental aptitude for anything to do with music. Nothing but seven years of blown recitals and a lot of embarrassment at school. But when I look at this-how the instruments are made? This, I understand. Always very good at sculpture. These are made from a subspecies of acacia hardwood that grows in eastern Australia-the “Acacia melanoxylon”. The clarinet was developed in the 1700s from an earlier reed instrument, the renaissance chalumeau. This sounded a little more like an oboe; deeper than the clarinet-and very much like the register of the average adult male singing voice. Reed pipe instruments, themselves, have been around since ancient Egypt. The Egyptian “Red Sea” gets its name from having been the “Reed Sea”, or “Sea of Reeds”. And I never tried a flute. Never even realized the things were open at both ends-I always thought they were closed like clarinets were at the top. But no, a flute is open at both ends. The clarinet sound is warmer. The flute sound is prettier. Flutes, even though they’re made of metal, have a “punchy” sound that’s reminiscent of natural things outdoors. Clarinets, even though they’re made of wood, have a smoother “controlled” sound that’s reminiscent of things indoors. And even though the flute has a slightly wider bore, the clarinet plays an octave below. Both are happy, lively instruments. The oboe is capable of a more somber, dignified sound.

@@mrslinkydragon9910 getting a used and overhauled clarinet is definitely the way to go. If you can get a good deal then maybe go new but there is probably always an instrument of equal quality just a lower price because it's "used."
Doesnt seem easy ... :o
I really don't think you enjoy the clarinet enough to appreciate the Mozart clarinet concerto. Any clarinetist would love ANY SOLO made for clarinet. I can't get enough of Brahms, Vivaldi, Mozart, Handel Or any clarinet solo/concerto for a matter of fact. I'm only in high school and my director has said i'm at a professional level hence I've been playing since i was five.. The point is, appreciate ANY solo made for clarinet. They all are unique and great.

I yelled at the Svbray3likespie little kid in another comment how NO band director in the universe would just let any middle school student play a 20 minute plus solo for a "contest" because the judge would think they were pushed. My band director would only let us do a solo like this or any other solo is because we were really good. I've played many solos because i have worked hard, practiced long, and he says i deserve it. (but i'm already a junior so... yaknow)

Absolutely shameful construction. No heart or soul used in the production of these instruments. When I purchased my R13, all three of the hand-selected instruments had misaligned bridges. It's disgusting how their quality control standards are so low.

From 2015 all Buffets are trash
Throw Selmer clarinets in the trash They lost most of the creator who had created a magical brand Buffet&Crampon has preserved its old models still on sale Actually.
Are you sure you're a pro? Because no professional would get excited they played the Mozart clarinet concerto, which is basically the standard clarinet solo. In fact it should have the opposite effect. I'm only in college and hearing the concerto makes me sick because I hear it played ALL THE TIME.
Well if you think I don't understand the mechanics of age where it makes sense or not to a person I do.I know what you mean and I think I know how to double check or mask my reaction better than you percept.Only the person thinking his words will understand what he means from it.Other people CAN understand. Not everyone is so supercilious to you and if it sickens you why in the world are you on this video?Go to some other solo and check out there stuff and don't assume what their age is.
Where should I wander? Geez I wonder where I should wander. How would I have even known you weren't in college? For all I know you could be, since there are all these college students that boast, "Oh I'm such a pro". A tip for the future, always listen to what you're planning to play. And technically you can't go pro on just one song. I don't know if this is slang or not but on an international website like KZread you should be careful with ambiguous statements.
And just because your band can't play as well as you doesn't mean you should wait for them to catch up. And medically I have can plan your reaction better than you. A teenager has a less developed prefrontal cortex than someone in their early 20s. And, to clear up any confusion, I wrote this in two paragraphs because of length, not because I didn't get it right the first time or because I left something out.
Why oh why did you choose to use the Mozart Clarinet concerto as the music for this video? It's the worst possible choice of clarinet music you can subject clarinetists who watch this video to!
