Delays are annoying but not as bad as a lack of leg room. Aircraft seats are just too close together, airlines do not care about passengers.

I was on a plane that got delayed 4 hours for the pilot's seat belt! This was Hawaii to Seattle.

When it's happened to me, I got quite nervous, not knowing if I'd make it in time to catch the next flight!

Flying and aircraft and everything relating to it is so cool! I've never really gotten mad at the crew or anyone if a flight gets delayed, because they always have good reasons and usually everything works out. Ty for the cool video!

I can’t forget how stressful I was when my family and I were trying to get into LA. We almost missed the flight from Denver to LA, we managed to run to the gate before we couldn’t. Heading back home wasn’t as stressful. We only got delayed for an hour due to air conditioners not working.

I moved from iran to malaysia a week ago. And our flight was delayed from 7:50pm to 4:00am because the plane had a broken engine. We didnt even eat dinner until 12:00 We actually started to fly when we were supposed to land. First they try to fix the engine. After 3 hours, we were escorted to the airport while they still tryed to fix the engine. After a while we were escorted to the lounge. And then at like 3:30 they again escorted us to the airport and we had to go through security again. And finally they brought us to the airplane and informed us that they had gotten a completely new airplane, a newer one. The airplane was so new that it had to go they had to do some security checks to see if it was safe or not. Im kinda happy that happened because the plane that we were originally supposed to use was super old and while they were only 20 passengers, we were all cramped in one spot but in thenewer airplane, we could go to which ever seat we wanted and we got 3 middle rows to sleep in.

I had to wake up at midnight for my flight to universal, it got delayed 6 times and a total of 12 hours from when it was supposed to take off

I'm 11 and I love your videos you help me a lot and give lots of information. I always go to school and flex on my friends with your facts thank you and keep going

Delays mean the flight had been cancelled

My airplane got delayed because of a strike in Rome.

Once i made a delay to everyone, at 3am i fell asleep at changi international until the indigo team searched and found me laying behind a chair!

One time our plane got delayed for 16 hours since the plane couldn’t fly to the airport when theres bad weather

"Even thunderstorms" Only to a certain degree, the plane will definitely have an insulated fuselage, lightning strikes may affect some of the electrical components so its advised by pilots that they divert around storm clouds

One time, my flight took off at 1:15 AM, when it was supposed to depart 2:30 PM. Another time, we were sitting at the gate in the plane while the pilots fixed an issue. At least this time it was only 30 min

It could be 24 hours, even worse.)

If you're working or passing by near the Manila Domestic Airport (popularly called Terminal 4), you might hear this occasionally: "...Your flight will be delayed due to the late arrival of turnaround aircraft..."

Mark Arca In Terminal 3 domestic departures nearly ever single flight has a gate change, it’s actually ridiculous.

I have never had a delay on my flight but if you have I feel bad for you but luckily you did not crash and you were safe!!

But what about the fun airport times, where you can sit and enjoy what it looks like? The big structure and how you’re so blessed to be there? :)

I bring my phone charger and a book in case I can’t find a place to keep my phone charge at a reliable percentage. I sincerely appreciate this video. It always helps to ease or prevent my anxiety and/or irritation, stay on the bright side, and be grateful for the airport staff. Bright Siders should represent! 😀/*

As a former flight loader, 9 reasons I've experienced first hand in addition to the video: 1) Late passengers: decisions have to be made to let you fly or not. If we decide not, we need time to offload your bag and re-load all other bags removed to find it. If your bag was first, that means unloading and reloading the entire flight! If you arrive too close to pushback time, you're off and the flight and it's delayed for everyone else! 2) Broken windscreen wiper: even though it doesn't rain above the clouds, planes need these! That flight was delayed 4 hours 3) Ice on the wings: No de-icer crew was available and it not safe to fly with ice on wings or instrument sensors. 2+ hours after loading complete. 4) Strike: Aircraft damage. In-flight damage occurs. It ALWAYS has to be reported. Sometime this means an engineer comes to inspect. Like all other creq, they aren't always immediately available. Delay will be even longer if a repair is required and can't be done immediately 5) Faulty aircraft parts: It is safe to fly with some parts not functioning correctly. e.g. APU (basically the starter motor) means engines need to be started and run to temperature in the stand (it is usually done by pilot after pushback). This requires a jump starting machine to run for a long time before departure, and they aren't always available. Due to the amount of time they need to run, this is the cause of the delay 6) Late bag delivery. When you check in, the bag goes to the belt. They are a specific department and they drive the bags to the ramp for the loaders to load. This is usually the shortest of the delays here as in worst case scenario, bags are not loaded to save time and you will arrive without your bag. 7) Aircraft damage: damage by crew. We have to drive with limited visibility in VERY close proximity to aircraft (literally 1 to 2 inches from the aircraft) inevitably this occasionally causes hits. This is rare though due to procedures and penalties. The worker who causes the damage usually is either suspended during investigation or fired. 8) Slow loading due to short staff of the ground crew. Usually the real reasno, but rarely the official reason. 9) Ground crew equipment failure. e.g. the loading belt or push tug fails and replacements have to be found. Very common! Delays the actual loading. The ingenuity and methods we've had to use to bypass the equipment failure and carry on loading manually are funny. saved many a delay! e.g. Throwing bags from the ground for a crew member to catch it in the hold.

I didn't find the delay annyoing at all (flew across the world) even if I was tired. I slept, friend kept watching the time and we took turns. People have to stop being so spoiled, these things happens for a reason.

Back in 1994, I was on a flight that was delayed on the ground for some 2.5 hours because a warning light wasn’t working and the light had to be working before the flight could depart. Since we were still at the gate, after the initial delay we were allowed to leave the aircraft. After the second delay, we were allowed to use our boarding passes to get food in the terminal since it was around the time we would have had meal service had the flight left on time. While I was in line, a customer service agent told us that the plane was fixed and ready for departure, so I got my food to go. The airline made the inflight entertainment complimentary due to the delay (food was free but IFE was something like $3).

Once I was with my family to board a plane back to my home state but got delayed because I had dry fish in one of my bags... it was a funny incident actually... at least we were allowed to take it with us, after a lot of struggle, but when we came home, we trashed it away after a couple of days...

Before we boarded the plane, we waited 5 hours outside the airport at night, from 1 to 6 because we were early, why? Because the hotel let us away early night, why? Because of timing... anyways don’t want to go that back to the story, but after waiting 5 hours OUTSIDE, we waited another 2 hours to actually board the plane, why? See the comment above.

You are right safety is very important. You should be alive and okay to reach your destination. But anyway. Love your video like always

For us our flight got delayed 19 hours and the reason was because the planes engine broke taxing out to the runway but glad we weren’t in the air.

I got delayed because of global geopolitics. Flight was to leave at 3:15. Boarding did not happen until 3:00. The flight was rerouted as one nation closed its airspace to flights starting or ending in its neighbor. This rippled to missing my connection and seeing those who could leave the airport delayed to the following day, and those who could not gaining priority in rescheduling for the same day.

When I had a 90 minute delay before flying to Seattle in December, I had lunch at the airport!

with over 40 year's of flying off to another country once a year for a holiday, every time on the flight out its always been on time and stress free, but on the flight back it's always delayed and we get back at 3-4am in the morning, stressed and in need of another holiday. Whyyyyyyy???

It's more down to fuel efficiency and new materials, but design has changed. Look at the A350 and 787 as recent new models. Aircraft fuel is VERY expensive, so a little drag reduction over flights of thousands of miles makes a big saving.

My flight In Toronto was once delayed it was super annoying I was five hours in the airport and my grandma got sec of me asking when the plane was gonna come so she took me to the store and I bought 3 colouring books

I prefer delays than having a problem on board I need to drink colored water in my flight 😂 😂 24 hrs delayed was a lesson for me I've learned to be patience 😀

As a former airline fueler it was a really bad feeling to have the flight delayed because the captain asked for more fuel at the last minute. Sometimes we had to get permission from our superiors before giving extra fuel. But that too caused delays. Also while fueling the planes you could clearly see how fussy the passengers were getting because the flight had yet to pull off. A very stressful job.

Well, I'm going to come at the from the other direction, since I work on the ramp at a major airport. One, yes, in the air an airplane doesn't bother that much with lightning, on the ground on the other hand lightning can cause some major delays because the ramp closes down when lightning is within the area we have ramp closures that means no work is going on to get the airplanes out, no getting planes on/off the gate, no loading baggage/food, no fueling. As for the weight loads on aircraft, at my airport most of the non-regional aircraft use carts instead of tankers though tankers do have one advantage of being able to pump fuel off an aircraft if needed, though that if often because of overfueling or recalculating the fuel loads at the dispatch level. And finally not only can aircraft and equipment break down (my tanker stopped pumping in middle of fueling my last aircraft last night) but with space being a premium on the ramp sometimes parking equipment in the wrong spot can prevent other needed equipment from getting where it needs to go to service said aircraft.

A missing passenger is the no.1 cause of delay. For security reasons you have to offload their bag, which is sometimes very hard to find inside the compartment therefore causing a delay.

About 24 hours

Crew got in from another flight . They might also have become beyond legal working limits. In that case they need to find a fresh crew. You’ll wait plenty or be scrubbed altogether. If you plane is only half full expect to combine you into another flight that is fuller 😵

As an airline an employee. Even we don't like delays because the utmost pressure will be on US .. And neither the Airline is responsible in front Natural calamities.. Some passengers doesn't understand that Delay is for there safety and security .
