He's translated the Markandeya Purana and Bhagavata Purana too. They're great! Just finished reading the Ramayana. :)

Love his translations. Finished reading the Critical Edition of the Ramayana and also finished the first three volumes of the Critical Edition of the Mahabharata. Have reviewed them as well on my channel. Some of my favourites in my collection. Got the Puranas from Bibek Debroy too recently, and can’t wait to read them. He also released the new Sacred Song book too, which covers many of the other Gitas from the Mahabharata, apart from the Bhagavd Gita.

Thank you for the video showcasing these! I am just starting to learn more about the Mahabharata and Indian literature, and I wanted to find a good version of the complete work. This looks pretty good and usually Penguin does a good job!

1. Is is mahabharat by bibek sir is exactly unabridged or not ? 2. Is ramayan by bibek sir is also unabridged ? 3. Are these books are the best available version for exact text of mahabharat and ramayan ? 4. Have you read this ? How complex is the story line mentioned in this book ? 5. And at last do you recommend this ?

1) To answer your first two questions, Yes, both The Valmiki Ramayana and The Mahabharata by Bibek Debroy are unabridged translations of the critical editions in Sanskrit. 2) They certainly are among the most reliable editions you could buy, alongside Geetha press English translations. 3) As of today, I have only read the first volume of the Ramayana, but as far as the writing style is concerned, It's easy and crisp. at the same time, it can be intimidating if you're a total layman to these epics, so I'd suggest you read the Ramayana and Mahabharata translations by C. Rajagopalachari before trying Bibek's. 4) If the price factor of these books isn't an issue for you, then I'd say go ahead and purchase them without a second thought, they're worth it. Ooh you finally made a video in them😃😄. I'll also buy Mahabharata 10 books but I'm confused about Ramayana cuz I've seen in a review that there is also mention on uttar kaand in this Ramayana which is not actually true, so is it there or should i see for something else ❔

Hi Harsh, yes uttar kand is included in this edition. As far as the translation is concerned, I've heard good praise for Bibek Debroy's work. I haven't read it till now, So can't really suggest you to buy or skip it either. But if you want to read the original Ramayan in Sanskrit text in future. This translated version would be a great start. I personally bought it for the same reason.

Recently a book has been published on Mahabharat by a guy named Chandru Ramesh who has written on whether Mahabharat is history or not after 7 years of research. My mother gifted me that book , please buy/read it, it's a fantastic book. Thanks

volume 6 7 and starting of 8th volume has only war of 18 days volume 5 has war starting the first 10 days and bhagvad gita hare krishna

@@rupeshdalal7426 It’s actually hidden in the pictures from the cover binding. For example the first book has fire in it! Do you know what does it signify? “The Sharpayajna”. Similarly the one with the dog symbolises the “Swargarohana” and so on so forth.

@@rupeshdalal7426 Actually in the adiparva of Mahabharata, vaishampayana explains the "text" to Shaunak and the rest of the rishis in Naimisharanya. Initially when they ask Vaishampayana about where did he learn about the Mahabharata, he answers that he has learned it in "the sarpayajna" conducted by Janmajeya to avenge his father's death. The yajna had agni in it which signifies the first cover picture. Also the dog picture you saw has been inspired by the Swargarohana parva where every 4 Pandavas along with draupadi except Yudhistir and a dog 🐕 .

@@smellymomo The Mahabharata has 18 parvas. You can think of them as Units (though they are humongous to be called as units). 1 to 18 is the only chronological sequence to read it. The Bibek Debroy’s translation is the closest to Bori’s one which is the most accepted text. Start with Adiparva.

make one for the bhagawat purana by bibek debroy as well

How many pages are there including all 10 volumes ?

Is this the full and original story of Mahabharata ..... because there are many illustration over the years, one have a single illustration and there's another one with 18 volumes, one is with 9 volumes .....so my question is which one should be purchased ??...the one you have it,is it the whole Mahabharata?

Either of them is fine, but geetha press translations in english are much more accurate and reliable as far as I've heard.
