Also, the dreams seems to be a what if(alternate timeline?) of if the people giving those statements didn't escape when they did, but stayed(for whatever reason) till the end. And from the line saying 'she was beyond his reach the moment she knew he was there' when talking about the lightless flame lady, we could assume that the things happening here are 'real' to some extent, or somehow, in some part, are experienced by the people who gave the statements as well. And from their reactions to him, they know John is the reason they're going through these things over and over. Which reminds me of Elias talking about the guy from the archive a long while back letting his friend die because he just had to watch what happens through till the end. In this weird probably paranormal dream, he's seeing all these things play out to the end, over and over again.

Is it just me or did anyone else have a weird feeling wash over them wile listening to this statement, like for starters jons dreams are a compilation of all the statements he's read, also this episode was (mostly) in third person. This is the first episode to be in first person and that makes me feel kinda odd. Its honestly mildly fascinating.

Ik everyone is supposed to hate Elias, but i just cant get over how awesome he is as the mastermind supervillain. Like he is literally magically intelligent, a trait that would normally make such a villain more of a hollow character but due to the unique power system of the world it just justifies the confidence that make villains like him such magnificent bastards.

A nightmare sequence for Jon... Must be really horrifying if this series is a game. Daisy somehow lost herself from her nature, she growls and killed Hope in with the power from the Hunt's entity, here in s3, things are building up... for the upcoming new arc, the one i would like to call as... "Hunting season arc" Where Trevor and Julia probably go and attack Jon for taking and burning Gerry's binded soul to that page of the book. Also, Tim... Yeah... "Rest in... just rest." Basira was able to press the right buttons in her QTE (Quick time events) she was able to lead herself to safety... At season 4, or 5, maybe she'll turn out to be a more stronger character. So yeah... maybe... Jon did not die because he leveled up as the head archivist in the right moment. (all thanks to the verbal abuse of Nikola and the time spent for him to think the one liner... "I SEE YOU") Unlocking the passive: "Immortal" to see and experience things *forever* --- Also yeah... errr... yeah, goodjob punching Elias... err... I rather want him than one of em family stuff that is tied to a different fear... aka the one that is involved with isolation. I'm pretty sure he's going to be one of the antagonists in the next season...

...okay. okay. So. Uh, Lukas (not gonna call him Peter for now, don't trust him) is already a better boss than Elias, and that's on his first day. I guess, uh, Daisy died doing what she loved? Um. I'm really quite sad for Tim, way more than I thought I'd be. Feel like I'm gonna have to relisten to that statement to really understand what was going on. Almost gave me a heart attack when the Spotify playlist kept going and the voice of Tim went "Hello everyone! Mike here!" and for half a second I thought the fucker lived. Anyways. I don't even know how to verbalize how much I loved this? I do like horror, but this season, even though it didn't focus on it, was my favorite. It's just... really really well done, in terms of pacing and, everything, I guess. I have been listening to this for a long time. Time to listen to the Q&A I guess. Thanks for making this.

Alright, just wanted to get some thoughts out, time to analyze the season like an English teacher. I feel like Season 3 was mainly about Jon's struggle to retain his humanity and deny the fact that he was becoming a monster. It would explain why Jon declined talking to the Distortion again, who also was struggling with becoming something it did not want to become. Jon didn't want to admit that was what was happening to him. This episode really finishes that off, as Jon is trapped in a state where he can only watch, and not do anything. His attempt to stop the Unknowing was also probably his attempt to have some form of self-determination, to prove to himself that he's not stuck watching, an he's not just doing what the Eye wants. In the end, it seems he's lost his fight.

Here is a list of every reference he makes in this episode and what he is watching: (None of the below contains spoilers assuming you've watched everything up to and including this episode.) 1. MAG 34: Anatomy Class, Statement of Dr. Lionel Elliot 2. MAG 65: Binary, Statement of Tessa Winters 3-4. "Those He Cannot Watch" refers to those who joined the Archive and are no longer subject to dreams. MAG 28: Statement of Melanie King, MAG 73: Statement of Basira Hussain, MAG 76: Statement of Melanie King 5. MAG 61: Hard Shoulder, Statement of Daisy - Daisy is missing as she was placed inside the Coffin (MAG 2) during The Unknowing (MAG 119).The Buried is obscuring her from The Eye's power. 6. MAG 71: Underground, Statement of Karolina Górka - The advert saying 'Dig' is a reference to MAG 88: Dig 7. MAG 47: The New Door, Statement of Helen Richardson - Helen was consumed by The Distortion under the guise of Michael, however The Distortion has taken on the guise of Helen now. 8. MAG 55: Pest Control, Statement of Jordan Kennedy 9. MAG 89: Twice as Bright, Statement of Jude Perry - As a avatar of The Desolation, she is shielded from The Eye and Jon's dreams. 10. MAG 109: Nightfall, Statement of Julia Montauk and Trevor Herbert 11: MAG 13: Alone, Statement of Naomi Herne 12: MAG 94: Dead Woman Walking, Statement of Georgie Barker - Georgie lost her ability to fear, thus while she is in Jon's dream it is absent The Eye's power. She watches back sadly as she cares about Jon and can see what he is becoming. It seems the dreams and nightmares people refer to in several statements regarding The Institute are due to The Archivist forcing them to relive their trauma every night after giving a live spoken statement. Every single episode above are people who gave live statements, not pre-recorded or written. Several statements confirm Gertrude did this as well and that the ability is not-voluntary or intended, simply a side effect or consequence. It is unclear if written statements have similar effects or if those who gave live statements to Gertrude were free after she died.

Gertrude purposefully avoided taking live statements, except in a few exceptional cases, because she was aware of this side effect of the Archivists power. I don't think written statements force the giver to re-experience the event and be watched by the Archivist while asleep Jon mentions all the _way_ back in season 1 he's having trouble sleeping (and everyone mentions how tired he looks). It's because he's been having these nightmares since he became the Archivist.

But this one was the first time I spent pretty much the entire time just gaping with an expression of bone-deep pure absolute horror just frozen on my face, and the reactions I sent to my friends on discord consisted almost entirely of long, bolded, italicized, caps lock keysmashes, punctuated by tons of question marks and exclamation points. And afterward all I could say was: "......Well. ...The Magnus Archives, as they say, is a podcast."

This episode absolutely devastated me. I loved the writing on the previous one, but this... This is... I feel like the Unknowing is still happening in a million universes that are parallel to ours, and I can't seem to quite grasp the concept of thought. I am one huge ball of feeling, and pain, and awe, and fear, and I can see everything, and I can express nothing, and every one of my nerves is screaming in agony while I'm yearning for more pain, and fear, and pleasure. And I feel like I am the one true Archivist, listening to this again, and again, and again, watching these people suffer, bringing Jon along for the ride to feed off the screams of his tortured soul, locked inside a body with an unbeating heart, with unmoving lungs, where only the brain is struggling to survive in the suffocating wet darkness of the skull, refusing to accept the simple fact that it. no longer. is. I sit here, in the cold unfeeling silence of the night, and I drink to the Archivist. And I drink to Tim. And Daisy. And Sasha. And everybody we've lost. And I drink to you. And I drink to me. And I drink to the brand new world that will see the light of tomorrow's dawn. Right on time. As always.

Alright. First of all, I'm going to go cry about Tim. Didn't deserve that. But at least he got to rest, and he left doing what he wanted most, so... yeah. That foreshadowing about Gertrude's 3 assistants all meeting terrible ends is really coming together, and I don't like it in the slightlest. Also, the reason why he wanted to save all of the "statues" (I mean, aside from human kindness) was probably because he hoped his brother was in there somewhere. That's depressing... Also thinking about Daisy... Basira's going to be devastated. Im happy Elias got some consequence going back at him! I really liked him as... not really a villain, but not an ally neither. He had a goal, and did everything to fullfill it. He is an interesting character, and I think it's not the end of him. But at the same time, I reaaaaally don't like Peter Lukas being now the head of everything. I mean, dude basically sacrificed one of his crewmates back in his statement? John's nightmares are absolutely horrible, and terrifying. Freaking Eye is NOT good, or better than the other. That feeling of powerlessness... just having to watch. So yeah. What an end of the season. I really liked how everything was kind of coming together, but still confusing and definitely not done. The voice acting and sound design were absolutely amazing!

My theory from this episode and what we know so far: So, Tim and Daisy are dead.. And although Tim is definitely dead (from what they said in their q&a) (you will be missed Tim), I'm not really sure if Daisy is really dead or not. I mean, before the explosion, she was with Breekon and Hope and killed one of them, so maybe she's not dead but on the hunt for the other one or taken by him for revenge? Or she fully emerged as an avatar of the Hunt so she survived the explosion and left before others came to see what happened? Also, though I didn't understand much from Elias' "statement", what I understood is that John dreams about specific statements and, though my memory isn't the best, the one thing some of them have in common are that they were given directly to John, so I assume that John dreams about all the statements that were given to him directly. But in his dreams, the victims never escaped, and since the entities are fears, I'm guessing one other aspect of fear the Eye feeds off from is the repetition of a statement's victim's fear over and over again; like by giving their statements they also gave their fear of the incident to the Eye and the Eye is making it so that they're on loop in an alternate reality (in this case, either John's dreams or a dimension of the Eye that John enters while he's asleep) so that there's always fear for it to feed on, like a garden of fears of some sort (I hope that makes some sort of sense).

The trick to nightmares is to simply not be afraid and go with the flow. Example of a dream I had which I would *not*describe as a nightmare: Started with kissing a pretty girl, then I had a mouth full of worms. Instead of panicking, I spat out the worms and asked her what the heck? The worms were long, thin, white, and smooth. Many had been cut in half by my teeth and there was a good bit of blood from the holes the worms had already eaten in my mmouth. She apologized and I told her that it was ok. As thousands more worms began emerging from her flesh and a nearby wall, I decided to run away. It is important to note that I rean because I *did not want to* be eaten alive by worms, rather than because I was *afraid of* being eaten by worms. It is a small distinction, but an important one. The difference is that I maintained agency. I had a goal I acted upon, rather than a fear which acted upon me. The chase was much as other dream chases go; suffice to say I was eventually trapped and surrounded. Then I had a choice, though most would not see it. I *could* fight against the tide, stomping and pushing them back untill they overwhelmed me. *OR* I could laugh, admit defeat, and just let them eat me. In choosing the latter, I was still in control. I merged with the swarm and went back to hang out with the pretty girl from earlier. Sure, I was a hideous mass of writhing vermin, but so was she on the inside and it wasn't a problem.

I cant say how much about the relationship between Elias and Peter that I read is true, but they are definitely close if he lets him lead while he is gone

Creepy AF... And I guess that's how the Eye really gets its fear-up. If you can just terrorize people in their dreams for forever after they give their statement, reaping the benefits of what the other entities have tried, that'd be REALLY effective.

Am I the only one who isn't happy Elias was gone? even if he acted horribly he still facilitated Gertrude and her expeditions, I feel like things are going to get very unfortunate in the next few seasons.

It does make sense that getting rid of Elias would just prompt someone else to step in instead, but the paid leave was a nice gesture.

Honestly, Peter Lukas is creepy asf, but I love him, his voice is just somehow so calming (everyone's voice is, the voice acting is amazing) and the fact that he always speaks with a sorta, gentle smile on his face? Is nice. He also offered therapy and said he'd pay for it, so like, sugar daddy vibes (I'm joking, but also, I love that he did offer therapy). I'm gonna miss Elias tho, I loved him as a character. And he wasn't necessarily a villain, but he wasn't good. His voice was honestly calming and really nice. It's unforgivable making Martin cry tho so bye-bye!

His voice actor, Alasdair Stuart does streams, so if you like his voice I’d recommend them. On some of them he even does some tma comedy fic readings

I really appreciate how it's clear how terrified Jon is of Jane Prentiss two full seasons after her getting iced. It makes a character who is more or less the "Starter Boss" of the series still feel consequential and menacing, even in death.

Peter lukas keeps having interactions specifically w Martin - a person who obsessively needs others people to love and look after to live well - i dont have a good feeling abt this
