The Magician’s Workshop ✨ ~ A DIY Miniature Story
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This is my next big project where I completely remake a kitchen dollhouse kit into a miniature magician’s workshop! I experiment with UV resin and paints and find new ways to make things, all to create a new imaginary world filled with magic and wonder. Question: is a magician a witch and is a witch a magician?
If you have any questions concerning the steps and what to use, please leave a comment and I will do my best to answer!

Safety tips (updated 15/07/2023): #1. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE wear nitrile gloves, work in a well ventilated area, and wear safety goggles when working with resin. At the time I was making this video, I did not realise how toxic the resin was, and how you can develop worsening allergic reactions to it over time. While the time it takes to develop the allergy is different from person to person, once you are sensitised, you become permanently allergic even to tiny exposures of the chemical. These are my tips when it comes to working with resin: 1. Wear nitrile gloves as these offer the best chemical resistance. The cheaper vinyl gloves are also acceptable provided you remove and dispose of these very soon after you get resin on it. Vinyl gloves are also acceptable for non-toxic materials such as acrylic paint. That being said, nitrile also has a time limit, but this limit is much longer compared to vinyl. 2. Do not reuse disposable gloves as the resin will have penetrated through 3. Wear safety goggles to avoid resin splashes into the eye 4. Have good ventilation to avoid build up of resin fumes - this involves crafting with open windows, using a fan to draw out fumes and/or use a ventilator that can filter out organic vapours. 5. Gloves that are the right size makes it so much easier to work with. The parts where I didn’t use gloves were mainly due to the gloves being too big and making it very difficult to work on small items. When I first started, I saw lots of resin videos where the users did not wear any gloves throughout the whole video, making me think it was relatively harmless. Although I am always careful not to get any resin on my skin, the best practice is to always wear gloves in case of any mishaps. #2. I’ve been researching a bit about fire safety lately. It is a good habit to ensure all the lighting wires are fully sealed and insulated, and not to leave the lights on for an extended period of time unattended. I have resealed one of the wires here with longer heat shrink tubing after I realised that parts of the spliced wire was exposed. Be sure to use plenty of the tubing as it will shrink and may re-expose the wiring. Always, safety first!
My idea of magicians and magic is that they are a mixture of art, science and mystery. Anyone can become one as long as they have the right tools, skills and knowledge! What is your interpretation of magic?

@@azukibeanhobbies I'm sure there are large communities of them online here. Might start with tarot card readers? I'd personally want to steer clear of the devil worshipers, just creeps me out. As a child I was fascinated by a magician show I saw and begged my parents to get me a magic kit so I could learn how to do magic tricks. At the wee age of 10 I put on a magic show for my little sister's 5th birthday party. I took some tricks to school too. The bloody finger in the box was always a fun one.
i love how the end product is so different from the original

i love your videos and this one is my fave, i always come back to this video because the story and the little details are so amazing. i love the way you customised the set to look totally unique and all the stories behind the changes--like the colours, the little faces on the stones, and even the narrow engraved strips you added at the end. your dollhouse videos are so calming and mesmerising to watch! i've never really cusomised a kit myself (i don't think I'm very creative haha) but i really love seeing you customise yours! thanks so much for sharing your magical process 💙💜
@azukibeanhobbies
Жыл бұрын
Oh thank you! It was such a pleasure reading your message 🥰 Definitely do try customising a kit one day! You can start off with small changes like adding more books and gradually changing more and adding more of your style :) I started off doing kits without customising after a very stressful period at work, and I never thought I would completely customise a kit one day. But then I started asking myself, "what sort of room or house do I want to live in?" and started changing kits based on this. Then it progressed to "what sort of room does my character live or work in?" Now my head lives in the cloud, daydreaming of tiny rooms xD What sorts of arts and crafts do you like to do? I believe everyone has a bit of creativity in them that can be brought out in different ways, and it's a matter of trying new things and finding the one that gives you the most joy! While I'm very much a beginner still in the arts and crafts space, I found that as long as it is tiny, this is the gateway for me to try new and different things!

@@azukibeanhobbies i spend SO long looking for kits that look like what i already want, because it never occurred to me that kits could be customised so much! i've seen people do the same kit you did, but they only changed the colours/layout a little. the way you made a whole magician's workshop is amazing, especially since i really want to make a witch's room type of diorama one day! (i watched your witchy re-ment unboxing btw, that's one of the miniature sets i want to get someday! ) 😍 i love your daydreams and the stories you invent for the characters that live in your dollhouses, thanks for the amazing videos hahaha. i'm more comfortable with sewing than making miniatures, recently i made a little rabbit doll and thought the dress in the book was a little plain, so i added lace and ruffles to her dress! thanks for the lovely response btw 🥰 i love trying new arts and crafts and it's wonderful to talk to someone about it!

@@xEnchantedxHeartx Most kits have the pieces already coloured and pre-painted so you won’t need paint if you want to make it exactly like the kit. Sometimes the kits by the brand “Rolife” contain some paint for you to paint the raw wood pieces. But again this is for getting the exact look of the original design. If you want to customise the kits to different colours, you’ll need to buy your own paint to do this. Hope this helps :)
