The magic of Seve Ballesteros RIP - 5 of his very best moments in Golf. (GolfGoon.com). From a BBC putting gem, to an underleg bunkershot in royal Dublin (which i witnessed as a wee kiddie), to his '84 signature winning putt at the British Open in St. Andrews, to an undertree shot on his knees, to a ball bouncing bit of messing as an older Seve.
We will never see his like again

My childhood hero from the first time I ever saw him play. He was passionate, talented, exciting, feisty, funny and, quite frankly the coolest person I had ever seen!!

From the first time I saw him in the open in 1976, I followed his career all his playing life, what a man, I can honestly say I loved him, or should I say admired him, no I loved him, his talent was unique imagination beyond comprehension. SEVE the one and only. 🇪🇸 ⛳ 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿.

"Mr. Feherty... What's the craziest and/or best shot you saw Seve perform?" Here's a great Seve story, and golf in general... I was at Feherty's speaking tour, chatting his life in and out of golf, and at the end he asked the crowd if they had questions. I got picked. "Well uh, thank you Mr. Feherty... I remember you golfing in the same era as Seve Ballesteros. He was quite a creative shotmaker - what was the zaniest or best shot you saw him make?" Feherty:(sigh)"Well, it was back when I played in Europe... during a Match game - me and my partner vs Seve Ballesteros and his. So we were up by 1 on the 17th, a dogleg par 4. Bunkers guarded the corner. The weather was godawful, or in Scotland, "slightly damp" Me, my partner, and his drove the fairway, but Seve was in the fairway bunker - (one of those old British ones, where you needed a ladder to get into lol^^). Wind howling, we all chipped over the corner, then chipped from 80 to 100ish yards, and we all got about an 8-10ft par putt up ahead. I turned to my partner, nudged him, and whispered, 'Nice man, we got this one in the bag'. Well, Seve walked in the bunker with a three-iron... He takes a full swing, WAILS at the ball - gigantic puff of sand. It blasts into the side of this cavern, and goes flying some hundred feet in the air... Lands in the green, 4 feet from the pin, for a birdie putt. All our jaws had dropped. We were just staring at him.He took one look at us and in broken English goes... 'What? It's a... what you call in english... "Bank shot", no? Bah!" He tied it up, and we lost on 18.

I still think often about Seve. He was a big important figure during my childhood in the 70s and 80s. As an amateur golf player myself, Seve was legendary. Fun fact. Seve patted my head when I was 3-4 years old. I don´t remember it unfortunately, but I´ve been told the story many times. During a golf tournament where Seve played and won :)

I grew up watching and being inspired by Seve as a boy, and I played as a junior from 9-16 years old, until I was pushed too far by an overbearing father who was trying to live-out his fantasy of being a pro through me, and then I was told I had to pay my own fees - it just so happened that beer and girls were more appealing to me back then, so golf was dropped! I've always had a hankering to get back into it, and 34 years on, Seve is once again an inspiration to me. I was just gifted a new set of clubs and I'm at the driving range trying to remember all of the old lessons I had back then, and I'm making improvements! For me, Seve was the first person who made golf a bit cooler that it used to be, not Tiger Woods, or footballers like Michael Owen! It was all brogue shoes with spikes, slacks and woolen Burberry jumpers back then. No fluorescent socks, trainers or earrings were allowed! It was so rigid, conservative and anal back in the '70's and' 80's. I'm now seeing shoes that look like trainers, trousers that look like tracksuit bottoms and hoodies! The game has changed so much in the last few decades, and all for the better in my opinion. Much more encouraging for a younger generation than it was for me. Rip, Seve, the candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long! I wonder what you'd think of golf today!? Long live KZread! Best invention ever!

Said he was actually a lot more straighter after tea then popular perception suggests. It was just the fact that Seve always went for the shot & knew that he could get out of the rough and escape. That’s why he was the most loved & exciting golfer ever .

If the round is going well and you are striking well - it is one thing but when adversity strikes it becomes tough to hit the fairway and most post bad scores but Seve just thrived in the areas off the fairway and somehow made par when many others could not - that I think was hit strength in posting scores that were the equivalent of a birdie or better just by getting a par and then pushing on to post an underscore totality.
