You shouldn't take these effects as literal, he isn't using magic, the flag boosts his morale, his strenght and his equipment are so great he can shatter the ground with a jump and so on.

It's part of the lore, actually. Same as Garen having magic, but not seeing it as much. They use light-based magic and associate it with holy power, granted by Kayle. Which isn't untrue, Kayle does grant them these powers to an extent, Garen's R design is based around Kayle's R design in visuals for that reason. However, Sylas is able to steal Garen's power, so it is definitely magic, and he doesn't realize that. Same as Jarvan. It's much like holy magic in other games being regarded separate to other forms of magic by churches, despite them technically being the same at the end of the day. It adds to Demacia's hypocrisy, just like the walls of their city being built with 'anti-magic' stone which, in truth, absorbs magic to be used elsewhere, so it is actually very magically-inclined, they just use it wrong.

Cant get over how dirty they did J4 with that opening “DEMACIA” scream 😭

Wow, Shyvana and Jarvan must be trolling, can't believed they both just got gapped by a single Sylas.

Jokes besides, that Dragon fight was AWESOME! The soundtrack was EPIC, the way the dragon moves was HUGE! And the sacrifice scene was... otherwordly. All that fire damage absorbed by the shield, time stopped for a moment and then... everything was silence.

The fight part with dragon form shivana reminds me of a bossfight in a mobile game(Guardian Tales) where the boss (Darkmage Beth) actually gives up her human form for a bit of power and becomes a dragon that fights in this style.

Riot just gave Sylas a lot of plot armor to introduce the character. Understandable, considering it's, well. An introduction to someone who's bound to change the lore of an entire nation.

Honestly I’d like if Shyvana joined sylas, they’d have 2 ideological leaders, sylas the human wanting the monstrous idea of war and Shyvana the dragon wanting the humane concept of peace. Then there would be another flip with both of them and lux, both lux and Shyvana were in positions of high power while Silas was treated as a hunting dog, then while lux is accepted Shyvana isn’t, so that leaves lux to try and change things in demacian high society while those with magic in lower society would seek the rebellion for protection. Plus I don’t care for the j4 relationship, he promised her a home that wants to kill her and sure he may like her but instead of doing anything to reduce the magic hate it come to a point when his country is falling apart that things actually have to change
