Would love to see a Madden method on protective equipment for riding, turnout, lunging etc. What types of boots, polos, etc, do you use for different horses in different situations? Thank you for these wonderful and educational videos!

There's a method where you plait it all on one said and another where you put it into pony tails and then pull the hair tie down a bit and make a hole and flip the pony tail into the hole. Like that hairstyle from the nineties. I've never tried either but hope that helped!

Just wet the mane with a damp brush, and put plaits in as if your going to do rose buds/ show plaits. Do them nice and laid over and tight. Leave them in for a couple of days and it works a lot better if you have a Lycra hood to leave on for a while to really train it, hope this helped☺️

A split mane is a sign of tension of the neck muscles. Think about getting your horse seen to by a professional or massage the neck muscles every day to relax the muscles. I often do this when they are eating their feed. Once the horse's neck muscles are soft and relaxed the mane should stay on one side without wetting or plaiting.

@@sharonpatterson5445 oh that's interesting, never heard that before! split manes are also really common in pony and draft breeds or horses with super thick manes. even wild horses will have hair that falls on both side of the neck. and sometimes it's just a cowlick!

do you shave the mane where the shoulder begins?

It doesn’t hurt the horses☺️ it’s all dead, usually if any horses are sensitive it is ones that have pink skin on their crest(neck). If the horse was hurting enough, they’d let you know!!

I have been around horses for over 45 years and they hide there pain. I have seen a horse with a broken legs trot to there owner. Horses will go even if they are in pain, so how would you know if pulling out there hair would hurt? This is right up there with cutting the ears and tails on dogs for what Humans think looks nice. It is time to stop this cruel practice.

@@avacarroll4811of course it hurts. Sure, hair is dead, like humans hair is too. But the roots are not. Maybe it hurts less than pulling your own hair, but they feel it!

It's clearly painful to the horse, it doesn't look good so why.. it seems inhumane.
