The Lumix TZ60 / ZS40 | Back to My First Ever Camera!

The Lumix TZ60 / ZS40
Going Back to My First Camera Ever
The first camera I ever bought was this Panasonic Lumix TZ60/ZS40 and, since upgrading, I haven't touched the thing. But now that old, small-sensored cameras are coming back into fashion, I thought I'd dust off my old camera and see what it can do.

    The 30x zoom in such a small handheld camera of 10+ years ago is seriously impressive

    Took one of these to Florida last month and got some amazing photos with it. My new favourite pocket camera.

    Modern new dslr/mirrorless cameras and lenses are so sharp i find i need to tone them down a bit and a small amount of softening by Manuel focus. This tz60 is wonderful on-so many levels. Pocket size, unobtrusive. Lightweight. Zoom. B n w setting etc etc etc file size. Easy of use … the list goes on. Just a pleasure all round. And an a4 size print is perfect for it

    I like your compositions and despite the camera’s limitations it still looks like a fun pocket cam! Nice vid, enjoyed your sarcasm. ✌🏼

    Nice camera and good nearly all situations. Have a TZ61 and my first digicam was a Lumix LS3 5MP from 2006. I have it still in use:-). Wish you a sunny day.

    Nice camera! I still shoot my lumix TZ70, it's actually my main camera! 😊 Somehow it lost some megapixels from your model, mine is the 12mp version, also lacks the GPS.

    The Z/TS series of pocketable P&S are designed for snap shooting when you don’t want to mess around with composing your shot and all the artsy stuff pro photographers like. They’re meant for having fun. For more serious shooting, you need a bigger P&S, a bridge camera or a DSLR/mirrorless camera. Its all about having the right tool for the situation at hand.

    I messed around with some film cameras when I was younger, but this was the first one I bought and owned myself. I do own a Brownie because they’re 10 a penny, but maybe I’ll pick up an Instamatic too.

    It’s a proprietary port. Google a cable for your specific camera. Lumix USB cables should fit most lumix cameras.

    I just changed one stuck in Danish. Scandies must have liked these cams. You need to turn off auto on the top dial to open up more settings options. Then it's obviously in the settings menu, i didn't need to understand the language to change it to English.

    This thing might have the same sensor as my old FZ82, actually. Funny little thing. Would you rather spend a day shooting with a TZ60 or with your smartphone?

  • @adamblack9837

    @adamblack9837

    I didn’t realise those bridge cameras used such tiny sensors to be honest. I’d rather shoot with this simply because of the easier manual controls. Although you’d probably get better images out of a smart phone nowadays.

    @@adamblack9837 Using 1/2.3" sensors without all that computational fakeness is quite err... challenging, yes. But those zoom ranges can be quite massive and I think no smartphone can do that, even with high resolution sensors, digital zooming, and "AI" sharpening. To be fair to Panasonic though, the FZ82 is more of a bride to bridge cameras (like the FZ1000 for example).
