@Joe Granted a lot of narcissistic men (and women) would want their ex to lie awake all night thinking of them, but... As for myself, I said I "love that line" because I'm a writer and I appreciate a great line in a song's lyrics. However, I myself would not stay awake at night for much of anything (except possibly if I needed to be with a dying loved one or a crying infant). Nor would I stay awake hoping my ex wasn't lying awake thinking of me....he'd be on his own. Lol. As Dana Carvey said many times while impersonating George Bush Sr. "Not gonna do it, wouldn't be prudent." Nope, I love my sleep way too much.

@Joe I didn't really take it as a insult or a compliment, more as, you know, just your opinion on how you thought most men wouldn't be as likely to think like that, (which I thought was very honest of you).So I thought I should clarify that, although I'd like to sit here and act like I'm that altruistic and loving, truth for me was uh, nope, not when it comes to staying awake all night...lol...

To be fair most popular songs in the US at least not speaking fie other nations are rap or pop and are so simple and dumb down but is more upbeat thats why people like it but i call dumb music. Most rappers lyrics are beyond ridiculous but good at times

Reading the comments has me baffled. What a case of “if you don’t like it, don’t listen” I love this song. I love the Lumineers. Love to see all you virtuoso’s submit your original song for us to critique. Paul Simon also sang and wrote simplistic melodies with folksy storytelling lyrics and he’s a legend.

I will answer the question sincerely, but am surprised I have to. Because it is gramatically correct. I am following the Stephen Colbert This Person AND "What He/She Looks Like" formula. Quotations are needed because what follows the AND is a completed idea that is equal to the original person if that makes sense. The AND is fully capitalized to show the reader that both are one and the same. This is not clear if AND is not fully capitalized; it would just look like The Lumineers & Mumford / Sons are together -- instead of them being similarly sounding bands which is the joke. @@kendonato1887 yes they have. Cleopatra I believe is their best album. Now the female vocals are gone and their songs are sounding the same. I miss the sound they were able to create with only three of them. I will always regret not seeing them live six years ago. Still a great band that is evolving.

This song is too easy. My issue with bands like the Lumineers is a reliance on lyrics to create interest and appeal. Look at everything supporting those lyrics to discover it lacks color, tension, dynamics to help deliver the words.

I like Lumineers but this song sounds like it was made improvisationally. Not a fan of it.

Too bad they lost Neyla, I guess she became a feminist and left them. so be it.
