The Lucky Linden Tiny House TOUR

Full Tiny House Tour! WATCH Short, Poignant Interview w/Meg & Dan:
• INTERVIEW on Just-Righ...
Inside Meg and Dan's tiny home, The Lucky Linden.
Meg designed the Linden originally for the Tumbleweed Tiny House Company. Though her Lucky Linden was customized especially for herself and Dan. It's expression of their personal design aesthetic and all the things they most love and love to do-- like puzzles and video games! Meg built it completely by herself, too.
Their DIY home is an refreshing example of how living tiny doesn't mean depriving yourself of the things you enjoy. Instead the tiny enables them to emphasis what they cherish the most, a true self-portrait of Meg and Dan's life together.

This is going to be the ultimate option for the new generation if they ever want to be independent here in Vancouver, Canada. Real state prices are insane here. Maintenance fees, property tax, utilities so expensive. I think these people are a good example of what it takes to get away from excessive consumerism and use stuff that they really need. I'm surprised not to see Euro-style wet room showers in tiny houses -- it's a set-up also common in tiny Japanese apartments and hotel rooms. Water-sheath all walls, make the entire floor into a drain pan that empties to the far end of the room away from the toilet. Hang a shower curtain on a rail AROUND THE TOILET, not the shower area. Now the entire bathroom area (minus toilet) becomes the shower -- the extra 12-24 inches in front of the toilet would really make this home's 24x24 shower area spacious if the two were added together. Use a squeegee on a 30-inch handle to whisk away water drops from the walls and floor, the next person to use the toilet can move the curtain out of the way, let it drip dry in the meantime. Keep toiletries and tooth brushes in a bin or basket and set them outside the room when showering.

I saw images of this house in mid construction maybe a year or two ago. Was so disappointed that there were no finished pictures. What a surprise when I saw the thumbnail ... I knew it was the house in those old pictures. Couldn't have clicked any faster! This house is the kind that turned me onto the tiny house movement like a decade ago. It's Jay Shaefer style. Well proportioned. Architecturally beautiful. Wonderful. Wish there were more tiny houses like this to look at on all these tiny house shows. The ones on TV are mostly out of out proportion box-like McMansions on wheels.

you can still bake cookies. make your recipes as you would. then use a frying pan or pot big enough to hold an heat resistant insert and prop it up off the surface of the pan. (mason jar rings are what ive used in the past) Next choose a baking pan maybe a pie tin from a pot pie, or a non stick plate, etc. Then put your cookie, quick bread, pie or whatever in and well cover the pot. The one thing I cant advise you on is the heat. You must figure out what the heat of your stove is like while doing this. I baked this way over an open campfire. Works wonderful. just keep and eye on it. Good luck

Other tiny homes are so perfectly sleek they look more like a display than something people live in - for example, the clothing on the shelves that is actually in a variety of colors and shades rather than all neutrals and there are more than 6 shirts - best of all, it blends nicely with original artwork that shows the personality of the owners. I dont wonder how they live here because I feel I can see it. The upstairs storage loft is fantastic.

@@Beandiptheredneck Sometimes for financial reasons. We're living in an age of expensive, unaffordable housing for many, coupled with low wage paying jobs. Even those who make good money sometimes can't afford a regular house. If someone has the skills to build a tiny house, or family members that do, then they can save a lot of money on building a house and not have a mortgage and not have to worry about apartment living which can also be inconvenient and a hassle in many ways, and is also overpriced in many places. And of course, if they have to build it themselves, it's probably a lot easier to build a tiny house. And also they want to keep it so it can be easily moved. What I don't understand is why they don't have an outside patio furniture. They would expand their living space a lot when the weather is warmer.

Sandra Gray I know all about the housing market being too high. No young person in my area can afford to buy, that said I think I’d rather try to find a house than to build one of these tiny dysfunctional things, and at the end of it all you own is the trailer, not the land or the right to put it anywhere. I like the house overall. Stepping on the countertop to go to the bedroom and cooking without a chimney is a big no no for me. I like my clothes and my space smelling fresh and being clean. Also proper ventilation is a must have in small places for mold prevention.

Great job, Meg. Not surprised that your personal house would be one of the best I've seen. As an admirer of your work, it's great to finally see what you did in your own space. Impressive. Lots of comments on here are annoying and rude. "I would do it this way..." "I don't like they way they did that..." "Would be better if..." "You shouldn't have done this..." Wow. Lame. Who asked them? None of these people will ever build a tiny house. They just watch KZread videos and criticize. Oh well, they are all experts who presume the world wants their opinion, I guess.

Luthorville: Building an Off-Grid Mojave Tiny House thank you for kind words! For the critics, all we can say is do you. Take notes for what you would do differently for your home and remember to each their own. 😊👍

Agreed. But... It's still rude. I would have done things differently from Meg & Dan. There are facets of the house that I don't like. But I'm not going to start spouting off and listing them. You know why? BECAUSE IT IS NOT MY HOUSE! They don't require my approval to love the way they live. They created THEIR dream. They were not building _mine_. I would rather praise their tenacity and drive to accomplish their ambitions, not criticize them because they failed to build their house exactly the way I would have done it. You know?

ACTUALLY, KZread channels benefit by people commenting what they like and what they would change for their own needs. This isn't rude for the most part, it's a good thing, as people are imagining themselves in smaller spaces. Every channel has the option for no comments if they can't handle feedback. Great vid and awesome home!

Beautifull tiny. I like the walls finishing: wainscoting is it? It has the feeling of a century home. Cozy and quaint. They can pack up and go in a jiffy or almost. I was wondering where they store the seasonal items such as winter coats and I remembered the storage loft. I love the heated floors, that makes a big difference in comfort! Toasty feet, dry boots. They don't have a washing machine, they didn't mention how they arrange for laundry. Please introduce the tiny home by telling the size and the time they lived in it. Thanks.

I like this tiny house. The only thing that I don't like is how the toilet is right next to the kitchen with no door. If someone needs to take a number two and the other person is cooking, the smell would throw me off completely and I would lose my appetite. But I do love the table and I would totally get one even if I don't live in a tiny house.

Mama Cat because both bathrooms and kitchens use plumbing. They put the 2 rooms that use plumbing together for efficiency. Also they generally like to put the lofts over the bathroom & kitchen so the living room can feel more spacious with the higher ceiling.
