It's funny that you said that about forgiveness because when I died and I asked how to go to heaven they said forgive other, ask others for forgiveness and the hardest one is to forgive yourself and they told me that when I was suspended above a lake of fire and I saw Jesus and shouted as loud as I could Jesus forgive me, he looked at me then I heard sir we got your heart going and the ambulance is on the way

Wise words. Forgiving others bad behaviours means rising above it and accepting thats what they are. Instead of being hurt or bothered by it. It has nothing to do with alleviating any guilt or shame they may experience. Or giving them a chance to do it again, in my opinion. It's something you do for your own benefit, not anybody elses.
