Never knew this movie existed. Very much in the spirit of the original. Which I saw 5 times in theater.

@@glauciarochelle Actually this movie would be canon, the simple reason is because Jim appears and at the very beginning they tell us that the person who had love for him before was Herbie so technically it happens in the same timeline, also Jim mentions that he got married thanks to him, what happens in the herbie series

Watching it with that sort of quality took me back to a time of big fat tvs and static, bedroom and toys. Loved it.

Horace and Herbie’s backstory becomes so much more sadder and scarier once you read about the real life backstory of the VW Beetle and its creation…which involves a dark chapter in the history of humanity. Dare I say it, this movie might be one of the darkest Herbie movies yet. The part where Herbie aimlessly wanders around in the streets, calling out “Hank” after Hank gets angry with him and where Horace gets destroyed after he confronts Herbie whilst Herbie is paralyzed and shaking with fear is honestly quite heartbreaking, because he (Herbie) comes off as a lost scared little kid in a car form, unsure of what is happening around him or even trying to look for his “dad” (Hank in this case) to apologize to him.

I appreciate the throw back classic masterpiece 💞 Herbie was loved when It first came out.

I would like to see Herbie come back

I wish for more good mechanics that will give longer life to good old cars...the planet needs that❤

My phone keeps missing I use to race my Supper Bug Bettle in the Power raced in St Louis when I was young I won the first Troffee now I am 80 this brings back good mimeris.

I love Herbie, always will. Loved all the Herbie movies, and seen them many times over, always wanted a love bug for myself…lol…..But I think I’ve missed this one….thank you for sharing it. ❤️😇

Herbie to me is humanlike with a life and soul of its own. Even watching the movie again as from a kid till now in my senior years, i am so emotinally touched and sad with tears, to see herbie get bashed up by that evil rival. I have a teddy bear , whom like herbie, i hve a special bond and attachment. You can just feel that they are alive and brings joy and comfort to your life.😘🐻

I never knew this movie existed I’m so glad I found it. I love it almost finished Herbie is racing the bad guy. Wow they just drove past Lindsey Dam this movie is made 8 years before Lindsey Lohan made the next Herbie movie. The worst thing about movies is stupid movie reviewers they never see the fun in these movies and put them down well I loved Herbie as a kid and I love him now as a middle aged man.

Disney needs to take a long hard look at these old properties and go back to their formulas. No politics, no sexuality, no social justice bullshit, just simple, wholesome family entertainment. Unfortunately, Disney is too far gone to be saved.

People give this movie a lot of crap but I really enjoyed this and I love it. They say it’s not canon but I wholeheartedly disagree. There’s 4 things in this movie that I noticed that tie this movie together with the previous Herbie films: 1: the opening scene shows clips from the 1st movie 2: Jim Douglas 3: Jim’s orange firesuit from Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo 4: Jim mentions that what Herbie did for Hank and Alex is what Herbie did for Jim and how Jim met his wife

I absolutely love this movie. I still have my VHS copy of this. I had bought every other Herbie movie I could on DVD/BluRay and really wished that this one was on one. Mayhaps I can find someone with a burner so I can at least transfer it to DVD for enjoyment/quality purposes. Thank you so much for this, and when I get the chance, my kids and I will be watching it tomorrow night for our Sunday movie.

What I love about this movie is the musical score, and Herbie design. The smaller 53 placed higher up on his trunk is a very good look

I've been watching the first four films since I was a child and I just saw this one for the first time. It is all over the place! It has its good and not so good parts and it even has some touching moments. Jim Douglas is one of my heroes and I don't like how he walked away right after his great and powerful scene where he is reunited with Herbie! There are some weird beats in the film and some awkward acting. It also feels like a remake with some artistic interpretations. Shirley Walker's soundtrack is glorious and summons emotions shared with her work on Batman the Animated Series. RIP. In the end, the good outweighs the bad - just like Herbie defeating Horace!

Assuming your talking about the orig Herbie when he walked away. Cause Douglas is about winning. Maybe in here he walked away here but not really. He walked away to allow the new guy experience his new life w/Herbie. Douglas already had his time, why go through it again. So, it wasn't all over the place, just diff variables of the series for the car and Douglas. Glad he showed up in this 1997 version.

Not sure how old you are, but I remember these "Wonderful World of Disney" movies being a big deal. They would throw in actors from different genres and it was fun to see what came of it. This was an out of character movie for Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Army of Darkness, Bubba Hotep), Alexandra Wentworth (In Living Color), Kevin O'Connor (Lord of Illusions), & Clarence Williams III ( not enough room to list his resume). It was fun to watch how their styles interacted. They meshed well for a fun movie. Bruce Campbell even mentioned in an interview how much fun they had filming it. Underrated movie from an underrated series on TV. Oh, I can't leave out John Hannah, he was great as the antagonist.

Herbie is my childhood and I will forever cherish him. But this scene 48:54 at 8 years old I just couldn’t bare seeing him in such a state… Ohio. It’s almost as bad as when he was thrown in the river in Herbie Goes Bananas as if they were the mafia. When he was thrown overboard 6 Year old me cried a literal river. Good to see Bruce Campbell before his run on "Burn Notice." Excellent actor, quite qualified

Honestly the biggest difference between this and the first is I can understand Hank's jealousy here. To Hank, everyone was gushing praise and such over Herbie that he never got a look in, compared to Jim who took praise deep down he knew he didnt deserve. Jim took the credit, Hank didnt get any.

This movie had missed the opportunity to call it "Herbie's Last Stand".

I can't get enough of Herbie, the greatest car ever!!!!!

don't get me wrong the general lee is a great tv/movie car and icon... but.... give me HERBIE anyday.. seeing dean get in and start up herbie and hear him honk never fails to make me bawl like a little baby..

And the “artist” guy Kevin O’Connor & the main bad guy(British dude) would end up together again in a few years later in the mummy with Brendan Fraser.

My Buddy Chet ( didn’t even learn his last name he’s a friend from coffee time. 😢) who created ALL the special effects for the Movie. He was around 80 many years ago and we haven’t talked for over 10 years so I don’t know of his current situation but he is wonderful. this was another great movie of Herbie the love bug i really enjoyed it lust like the original movie of Herbie its alcaic Disney movie now there needs to be more Herbie the love bug movies

This is underrated directing and cinematography at at 1:03:30. The Gasp of the woman accentuates the scene to make it more relevant

I gotta say, this is one cool movie that's like a remake and sequel, together. So glad Jim Douglas is back! I don't get why this hasn't made a home video release, in the UK at least. It's not even on Disney+! 🤷‍♂️

I bought The Love Bug on the UK VHS tape and found that it was the original 1968 version and not this version. It was a little bit confusing having two movies called ‘The Love Bug, which were both made by Disney’.

I'm sure I've seen a version of this where it's revealed that a photo of a lion and some other things are dropped into the metal mix for Horace.

Kar, an evil version of Herbie

I love all the Herbi movies. My sister Terry' first car was a bug. I remember riding the running boards when I was about 6 in Montebello California. I'm 55 now . I jumped off hit the ground running and about fell on my face. She was late for something. Hence the term running boards. I'm sure I'm not the only one that found out the hard way why they call them that.😁

I'm really love that Beatles car aka Herbie. Now i can watch Herbie and my favorite Mr Campbell in this movie. I'm loving it.

This car Hebei was a good movie just love it every one love it every time this car go his all ways a winner love this movie so great watching the movie 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤

It gave a tactful wave to the original movies. It doesn't alsp denigrate characters from the what's gone before.

In 2017, it was reported that a new Herbie series was in development at Disney XD. The plot revolved around a child named Lili or Landon Reed, "part scientist, part entrepreneur, part daredevil" who realizes, "when her/his parents go missing, that they've secretly been working on a government project: a talking car named Herbie. Herbie is key to helping the kid reunite with her/his parents, but a gang of criminals also wants to get its paws on the state-of-the-art vehicle."[5] The concept of this planned series was later developed into Fast Layne without any Herbie references, making Herbie's future uncertain. Herbie is still alive and well .

Such a great movie! It was so much better than Full Throttle. I know it’s not officially canon but feel like it should be.

It's sad when Herbie got hit hard but there's a good ending! I absolutely love this film
