The one thing I remember about this module is that the very first encounter is an easy TPK if the DM fully utilises the goblins bow range, hide BA, and foliage nearby to actually hide in

Great point about the Nothic. I had everyone in town complain about or ask for help with the Redbrands to the point that the party said, “Fine! We’ll do it”. I just laughed as the DM

Nice review and helpful for DMs who want to run this excellent introductory 5e adventure. My only disagreement is that I don’t think part 3 sidequests really advance the main quest which is to rescue Gundren & find/secure Wave Echo Cave. They are interesting sidequests but you can dispense with them until later & they quite frankly just delay PCs finding Gundren who might be dead if they delay too long. If PCs capture Glasstaff or the goblins/bugbears they could tell PCs where Cragmaw Castle is (with the right incentives). If I were to run this adventure again, I would save the sidequests for later or only send them on one so PCs can locate Cragmaw Castle.

One of the best starting adventures I have played for a while. Really nice break down there Lore. I am hyped with the return to Phandalin wotc are planning to do! I hope you will pick that one too in the future when its out! Would love to see how you will connect em together.

The Old Owl Well brought back some NWN2 memories...Of all the modules you ever ran, would you say that TLMoP is one of the best for introducing people to D&D?

Yes I think they have done a really good work writing an introductory adventure for both Game masters and Players. It is easy to traverse from one vital part of the adventure to the other and most importantly there are many ways to find what you are looking for. There is some sandbox element to it that could get a bit off, but in my experience it never happened. The players have a clear goal and they go after it with ease.

This is the first module I ever ran, it was so fun, I told my players that sildar and gundren were dead on the road and because the module says later that they are alive, I said that the guys were ok in phandalin... with no explanation xD, I guess I didnt read correctly but my players were so invested in the story of why dead people were coming back to life xD.

Hahah that was a great messing with their heads. Should have kept the mystery going sending them in a constant search of the reason behind this sorcery :P

@@RpgLoremaster After that we played a homebrew story and sadly I don't play with them anymore, but it was fun, I never prepared for any session but they were so invested in the story, thinking I had some ultimate goal or master plan.

People seem to be interested in this kind of GM work, when I am done with my walkthroughs i might return to them all and give my detailed choices for some of my groups. Thank for the idea!

xD it's kinda funny that a band of thieves and thugs hire a MONSTER and Skeletons to protect them xD and random 3 bugbears and a goblin in a random room xD Also the map of the mansion makes no sense and is really just a random set of rooms and corridors O_o i mean it as supposed to be a manor

Hhahah you are not wrong, it does seem weird for all this monsters to be gathered, but D&D has that history of making monsters look like mercenaries, and you are right its off. Still if you want to put down the hours you can easily, as a game master, make it work, and make sense for your players. Tbh I have never thought of it ,so I never did the work to make it more coherent but now that you mention it, its all I see hahaha.

When I'd run LMoP the dragon was the bbeg behind all, that made more sense for me, and fit well this kind of 'nonsense'
