In today's video, we look at the history of the Kirby's Toy Box Series. These 8 mini games for the Super Nintendo Satellaview Add-on were lost for many years, but thanks to the game preservation community they are now back! This is the story of these games!

I've always thought Kirby was named after the vacuum company which would just make too much sense.

I came here to say exactly this!
It is fascinating how many games in the series never made it to a worldwide release. But can be. Real head scratcher
Someone should create a homebrew rom that packages all eight minigames together in a single title and release it for download. Maybe make a few more minigames from scratch...
I grew up on Kirby games and when I discovered emulation and stuff around middle school it was the most amazing thing for me because as a kid I didn't have the money and resources to collect more than what I could find at the flea market etc. The "Kirby's Toy Box" and more specifically the baseball minigame always perplexed me that I could not play it! It is awesome that strides like this are take for the sake of game preservation. There will never be a copy of Kirby's Toy Box at a flea market or game store.
i am glad to see you continuing
I remember playing a physical version of the baseball game! Pretty fun little mechanical game, and very challenging to hit the ball with the bat.
Wetwang is a gorgeous village 😎

I love how you call all Runs, Homeruns in baseball.
Love the innuendo in this one!
Love your content thank you so much for your videos
Wow... this video got released... at my birthday... how did I miss it?!
You say good morning. I say good night. such a wonderful lady decade video!
Ah Satellaview. The bittersweet, mysterious treasure cave of the Nintendo universe. Definitely enjoying the coverage.
Nintendo, innovating with game distribution while at the same time making it more difficult to preserve content and creating more Lost Media, I would like to say they have learned from this to avoid this kind of things, sadly it seems they just doubled down this posture over the years. Still great video, it's fascinating to see this types of distribution origins, being either Nintendo, Sega or Atari.
Great video
excellent review 😎
ANOTHER great video- Lady. Just curious?... How many game titles do you own? 😮
My FAVOURITE Nintendo character.
Newfoundler here, we have some interesting town names as well and both ends of the spectrum; Dildo, Conception Bay, Blow Me Down, Wreckhouse, Little Heart’s Ease, Paradise
Awesome vid.
Back with more heat🔥!
Love your since of humor Lady Decade and your bad ass knowledge of retro games of when we was kids keep it up!
As a kid, I always thought Kirby's name was based on the vacuum company of the same name, mainly due to his ability to suck things up.
Thanks!

🙌🏻 Yes , the reason why physical releases are so important
Another to add to the list of hacks that I need. Thank you Lady Decade!
I guess I should have expected games that have been missing for a long time from all of existence would be underwhelming when they are revealed. But it is cool to know that they exist and cool to preserve gaming history. I enjoy the convenience of downloading games sure, and that's especially since I have this terrible habit of losing stuff every once in awhile I don't do it as much as I used to, but I've lost a lot of games that were physical copies as I was growing up in the 90s and a lot of games even after that so actually for me digital is more convenient because I'm less likely to lose the console although it was very heartbreaking that I was dumb enough to lose my switch which I had gotten in late 2018 and had lost it in the middle of 2019 but I was able to replace it easily in the middle of 2020 and I've kept that one ever since and will never lose it. I do agree physical games are great though. They take up less space on the hard drive of your console and you don't have to worry about the game being taken down because I think some kind of time limited edition version like Super Mario 35. Honestly I would have been willing to pay to keep that game just so I can continue to play that game over and over because it was so much fun to play that against a bunch of people always ready to play. Anyways in my opinion as long as the games you download digitally do not require the internet to actually still play them after you've already downloaded them I don't think it's really a problem because all you got to do is just keep them saved on your consoles hard drive or some other external storage and you still have that game forever or at least for as long as your console lives
there some Sim City mission packs that was on Satelleview idk if we got all of them yet?
the older kirby games are like dreams
Glad it got preserved, this stuff happens too often
Can't wait to let Lady Decade review a game named "Balls of Steel" 😎
Some awesome games coming to the switch 👌👌
Quite a theme to your latest video: Balls & Holes🤣🤣🤣
Kirby on GBA was the last time I played but they were amazing
Funny,I was just looking for the original Nintendo 2 nights ago, I remember when I got it as a kid in the 80s. I’m going to get it again.

I'll be honest with you. Getting the wireless NES controllers and playing the Switch online (you can get the $20 year subscription and get nes and snes games) is a better experience overall. I have an original nes and it works fine it just takes up to much space for something that's single-purpose. To illustrate my point I'm watching this video on my Switch
Thank you for sharing that moment of your life with us. Always wonderful to hear how people found gaming and for such a massive change in your life to tie into it must make those memories really poignant
I'll never understand why Nintendo never re-released most of these in any form. The ones where the voice acting was the main attraction I get, but the others are just games with development time and resources sunk into them that they could easily profit much more from if they chose to do so.
Not that I'm a Kirby fan because he rather creeps me out but just for a bit of fun, these look the part. They also sound like they'd have been a nice little collection for something like the Wii or the Switch.
How do I know if my holes are differently functioning? Oh who am I kidding, they are.
Kirby on the switch is truly awesome
Nintendo likely still has the original code of these games, they should release a satelaview library on the switch.
I want the Mario 64 prototype/beta rom the only footage of the real cartridge being played was at nintendo in a few kiosk stands
Nice fan.
watching you since you had 10k subs, great content as always!
These old games disappearing is like the BBC destroying old TV shows because they didn't feel like preserving them
This video feels good on the hole
Wow. A useful sponsor that's not Raid Shadow Legends or ball hair clippers.
The pinball game on the SNES looks a lot like Pokemon Pinball in a way.
In Fairness: That's EXACTLY how Children in Need's Pudsey got his name.
New Kirby game 🎮
Kirby Return to Dreamland is called Kirby Adventure Wii in Europe? Blasphemy! I hope that that does not repeat in the remakes xD
That Pinball game seems like it is using the Pokemon Pinball engine.
Still waiting for kid kirby to be restored
I’m planning a trip to Greece. Any tips?
Wow i never even know That their Were lost Kirby Games what's the first Kirby game you ever played?
I still have Kirby’s pinball land.
What exactly is *Kirby?* Looks creepy to me - _I don't want to know about his box or his tool..._
Kirby superstar in my opinion is the best
...Is that what Return to Dreamland is called over there? (I knew about Canvas Curse/Power Paintbrush). Think you guys got a bad deal lol
I didn't know there was a Kirby Star Stacker on SNES. those were similar. That BS kirbys pinball looks more like pokemon pinball.
I'm pretty sure Kirby was Iwata's creation, no? I thought it was originally meaning "curvy" but in the Japanese pronunciation...
I'm guessing that John Kirby's surname came from the British town
You should do a video about the unreleased Pokémon rpg 64

Comment to tempt the algorithm
can we just get a video cornering all the weird names of english villages?
You have such an amazing sense of humor, lol. Yeah, physical games are super important. If your hard drive dies, all of your digital games go with it. Getting a Nintendo console fixed could cause all your digital games to be wiped as well if stored on the internal flash memory. You can only redownload them for so long, because eventually all internet connectivity is disabled forever. It's a huge issue that people should be interrogating Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft about. What are they going to do about the problem? All signs point to PS5 being a transitional console. PS6 is almost certain to be digital only, and Microsoft will probably do the same. Nintendo may have a physical option for a bit longer, but eventually even Nintendo will go digital only. Physical game sales have been dropping significantly year by year for over a decade while digital sales have risen. Hardly anyone still buys physical these days.
You'd think there'd be more 'going on' in -- oh, my gosh, you can't even type Fing******oe! xD
Sadly physical media isn't the archival tool that'll preserve games. It's piracy. It shouldn't be, but practically speaking, piracy has done far more for video game preservation than the industry ever will.
Neckfans feel great on the neckbeards 😉🐢🐢
Before watching your channel I always thought the BS games like (BS Super Mario World) stood for Bullshit lol and I was like that sounds like a game the Angry Video Game Nerd would play.
Kirby games. A necessity for great... what now? Shuashnifing? A-are you allowed to say something like that on KZread?
Thumbs up and comment for the KZread algorithm overlord.
