[the lost files] 9 Day Expedition in Search of the Tasmanian Tiger

Deleted scenes from the 9 day epic journey into the lost world of the Spero river. The Spero river was a small pining operation located on the remote and Wild West coast of Tasmania, where first hand reports of Thylacines following the piners were recorded long after the apparent last ones died in captivity in 1936.

I seem to always be late to the Party . Anyway in 1975 i was 12 years old my father and I would often go camping and fishing off the beaten track in Tasmania . Around dawn on one of our trips we set ourselves up along a little stream to do some fishing and on the opposite bank about 15 meters from us two Thylacine were eating something .We watched them for a few minutes until i suppose that they realised we were there and they took off into the scrub . My father always called them Tiger Wolves and said that they were still around. That was a long time ago and i have my own opinion on if they are still around or not . But i know what we saw . Thank You .

Lucky you! That's about 50 yrs. ago but still of historic interest. Care to share general area of Tassie? I took a close encounter sighting report of 2 Tigers near Fingal late 1970s. Sighting also lasted several minutes.

Purely just suggestions I’d assume there more cunning then deer or wild dogs when setting trail cams any scent detected and the animal won’t come in unless there rain if you could leave cameras for a month or two would be ideal on old tracks river flats or game trails Also if you could get hold of a hikmicro thermal you can record to your device good ones pick up animals at night or day up too 1.5k you would clearly see them

Great expedition. I guess two things stand out; your wet sleeping bag and loose baggage. Also with patches it’s better to not have dog ear edges. Rounded is ideal. Did you use the Plaster of Paris? If only the really old-timers had modern day cameras and drones. 🤔👍🏻🙏🦘
