James Gray, Sienna Miller, Robert Pattinson, Tom Holland, and Angus Macfadyen spoke at a press conference for 'The Lost City of Z' before its world premiere at the 54th New York Film Festival.
James Gray’s emotionally and visually resplendent epic tells the story of Lieutenant Colonel Percy Fawcett (a remarkable Charlie Hunnam), the British military-man-turned-explorer whose search for a lost city deep in the Amazon grows into an increasingly feverish, decades-long magnificent obsession that takes a toll on his reputation, his home life with his wife (Sienna Miller) and children, and his very existence. Gray and cinematographer Darius Khondji cast quite a spell, exquisitely pitched between rapture and dizzying terror. Also starring Robert Pattinson and Tom Holland, The Lost City of Z represents a form of epic storytelling that has all but vanished from the landscape of modern cinema, and a rare level of artistry. I came for tom, and I found rob this is great😂😂
You can see Robert Pattinson's boredom creeping in and just taking over, as he sings further into his chair and stares into space. They really didn't bring him into the convo at all and he's too socially awkward to talk voluntarily. The only thing he said is "You can sit on the bottle."

the indian navigator in the beginning says to fawcett " I am free you are not" I thought that was so poignant and addresses what James Gray was saying how each character has their own humanity I loved it this film was fantastic i did get in touch with great great granddaughter, Sarah Gonzalez, fawcett she is the great granddaughter of fawcetts daughter and she is an archeologist amazing

darrah lane for real. I came here after watching the film, and at first James comes across kinda grating but once he started talking about this 🙌🏼🙌🏼 so on point.
James Gray is a severely underrated filmmaker! The Yards (2000) is an under appreciated masterpiece! We Own The Night (2007), while flawed is still an incredibly entertaining, effecting film. The Lost City Of Z needed multiple re viewings I felt mainly because of its length which is definitely an issue, but I personally thought it was an incredible film! My only complaint with it is that I didn't feel that the sense of time passing was that strong, especially for film where the entirety of the narrative covers twelve years.
