I think they were trying retroactively give awards for Part 1 and Part 2 as well.

Andy Serkis, a.k.a. Gollum, a.k.a. Caesar the ape, has a wide range of acting abilities. A lot of people don't even realize its Andy they're watching.

Long before the movies, Gollum was always the classic "parents' revenge" when they read The Hobbit to their kids at bedtime. If you can't ham up "myyyy prrrreciousssssssss...." to the point where the little sods are cowering under the sheets, then you haven't got an acting bone in your body.😈

Another of my favorite 🤩 sequels. In fact, it won 🏆 11 Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director (Peter Jackson).
