I think it was the final episode of Guillermo Del Toros Netflix series that came out recently, where it was intentionally shot, scored, acted, directed, ect. to evoke a sort of retro 80s sci Fi aesthetic, with imo some pretty clear visual cues and inspirations from movies like Pulp Fiction. It was my second favorite episode of the series because it went out of it's way to evoke that nostalgic visual language, and it looked great. I would love to see some movies that intentionally use almost entirely practical effects, with. If the AI isn't that sophisticated, or doesn't have a lot to draw from, it will more or less resort to straight plagiarism. Look at those orcs and Sauron so evil. Jackson's elves would look too innocent here... So overall more gloomy mood and those costumes and music it could be so goooooood! It's both some of the coolest and scariest things I've ever seen.. this is all made by AI .. many of these images are photorealistic almost .. they look like actual scenes from an alternate dimension, exactly my thoughts.. but that's the scary part. AI is about to take over content creation .. art, writing, movies .. it's not that far off that we will see content creators use AI to create entire movies.. and not long after that, we will see AI just create their own movies, shows, content etc Google says we're about to see a major disruption within 2 years.. this is gonna be a lot bigger than most people realize. Google has basically become part of our global culture, and stuff like chatgpt might end them.. (which isn't necessarily bad .. google nowadays is absolutely useless to find the answers you're looking for.. when 10/15 years ago you could find the solution for any tech etc issue you had with a single google search, now you get 50 sponsored things and completely irrelevant stuff that has good SEO. AI just gives you a straight answer,.. These AI's are gonna leave a ton of people without a job.. a lot of people who thought their jobs were save and menial jobs would be the first to go, a lot of upper middle class office and tech jobs are gonna disappear overnight.

He sacrificed character development and mystery for showing us armies of orcs from a birds-eye view, as if that's gonna make us feel for the characters. No, it makes us feel like we're playing GI Joes. Versus a movie like The Mist, or Cloverfield, where you only get a sense for a moment the size of the beings you're fighting. Or Children of Men and that amazing single-cut scene where you're on the ground with Clive Owen, barefoot. I don't remember much of the LotR movies because somehow Jackson missed this. A CG version based on these looks would be epic. Love the wingless Balrog.
Feels very Tolkien to be honest, which is great, the first part showing the shire as essentially the English countryside is perfect. Love it
The LOTR is my favourite trilogy of films but I feel like this vision for the world is much more impactful. Absolutely incredible
Wow, it looks almost unchanged. Which means that lotr is just perfect.

Yeah. Lord Of The Rings was practically the basis for a number of fantasy-related genres on a general level. This style of 80's Dark Fantasy is basically a grandchild of Lord Of The Rings.

Ehhhhh, I would say this has a more grim atmosphere to it. Honestly I really like the goblins and orcs in this, they truly look menacing. Not sure how I feel about the Balrog, in this he looks like some kind of pissed off Aztec God lol.
Thats how LotR possibly would have looked as a mid 80s beyond high budget American movie production.

If they made LOTR instead of Legend. Or Willow lol

For some reason I keep thinking back to Dino DeLuarentis 'Dune'. Maybe the still shots with the blue eyes.

Italo-american production to be exact
Amazing! Closer to the dark images we thought of after reading the books in the 80's!
Phenomenal work. Loved it
Arwen is absolutely stunning. It's as if you can see thousands of years of wisdom in her face, despite showing not a mark of time's passing.

Agree she was the best art in this video. I do like how Gollum looks like he seriously needs to be avoided at all cost. Orcs and Goblins really no difference I always thought Orc should be bigger even if it's not canon .

@@joezar33 I think that in the books, Orcs and Goblins were the exact same species. There were just called different names by different groups of people, or those were from different languages.

So freaking accurate! The ring, the painted backgrounds, the empty setpieces, the angular faces. Insane!
Wow! Its amazing! You have a brilliant mind man!
You have great taste and a great eye for aesthetics
I'd rather seen something like this in a TV series than The Rings of Power. Good stuff.

It's certainly looking better than anything from Rings Of Power. Damn, as much as love Peter Jackson's adaptations of LOTR, I find myself disappointed something like this didn't actually come out in the eighties!

they should just done this style instead of what they have in RoP, it would have done better, But then yeah some decent story and dialogue would also help. Also: Sams Stache.

I totally want to go back to the 80"s and watch this!
I need MOAR of this
Awesome video, thanks dude :)
Gonna be honest, I may get nightmares from the orcs and especially Durin’s Bane. Goes to show how the dark fantasy really mixed well with this.
This hits to close home man. I grew up watching stuff like this. In a time without google and soviel media. Good old days!

LOL, yes, "Soviet" media. I see where you're going there
Damn, can someone make this version? Instantly took me back to my childhood
Thanks for this. The entire group of pictures was actually better than all 8+ hours of Rings Of Power.
My parents saw this movie back in the 80s. They loved it!

Mine too! They saw it at the Scarfolk Playhouse! They're still seeing it! Oh, when will they come home? There's an eyeless man scratching at the window...
In another reality I would love to see the creative minds behind Excalibur and the Dragonslayer join forces and come up with a LOTR movie using practical effects. The guys from The Dark Crystal too.
very cool!!! Which prompt did you use?
These are great! Just curious - how does the process work? are you giving the AI images to go off of? Arwen in particular looks so familiar - I'm thinking that's gotta be a real actress, just can't quite put my finger on who.
Honestly, this is a spectacle, i cannot express how much i like these 80's dark fantasy concepts, i hope the movie companies use this in future, keep it coming bro !
The Orcs and Uruk’s are actually terrifying. I love it! And Gollum looks like the gremlin from the plane in the Twilight Zone movie
Love every bit of that video!!
I think in 10 years we will see a movie completely redesigned for this style
I have been saying it for ages now since I miss sword and sorcery but we need 80's Dark Fantasy more than ever.
Now I need to watch this movie so bad.
Who ever done this needs to get hired as it’s absolutely brilliant and needs to be made!!
Well done! I would give several organs to be able to watch this in motion picture.
As someone who grew up in the 80's as a child and watched Legend, Neverending Story this vibe really hits haha
