That’s so interesting. Thank you for keeping the actual sounds and not substituting music. Nice to hear what they’re saying 👍

I bet you would not be able to mount with such outfit : helmet, boots, sword, shield.

I imagine back in the day when these soldiers actually rode into battle, if they came off they stayed off.

JMO, they are trying to turn the horse tightly around the mounting block and these horses are so big, their bodies naturally swing out a bit. Perhaps if they had the horses parallel but about 10 feet back, the horse would walk naturally right to the front of the block without swinging their big bodies out. Finally near the end, a smart idea, bring the block to the horse! Some of those guards acted like they were quite unfamiliar with horses.

Or they could’ve just turned the blocks to accommodate the angle the horses were approaching from, and maybe had more blocks. That one guy was really rushing them to mount when the horse wasn’t close enough or the saddle and stirrup wasn’t close enough.

Oh gees, these horses just can't wait can they to be controlled and have some weight on them. So eager. What a treat for them.

I may be wrong but many of these seem not to be horsey people. They seem like they've had a course on what to do and then been sent out to get the job done.

I think I read somewhere that only a tiny percentage of new recruits have any riding skills at all. My grandfather was in the Life Guards. He worked in a factory before he joined the army.

Thankfully no one has to go battle dressed like this, on a horse any more, but for ceremonial duties the Brits do it best. The comments made me laugh. ' get your leg over lad' 😂😂😂

The stirrups on a western saddle are lower and easier to reach from the ground. It's like trying to compare potatoes to pineapples
