THE LONGEST SOLO HIKE OF MY LIFE | The Long Walk Home Series, Pt1 | The John o Groats Trail
Join me as I walk, solo, on the longest hike of my life. Starting at the very top of the UK, John o Groats, making my way south, to the very end, Lands End. This route will take in around 1400 miles of national trails, with an extra 100 added on at the end, while I walk home. . This Vlog was day 1 - 4, as I hike along the John o' Groats Trail . The water colour is just peat, all water up this way is generally brown. Used to come out of the tap that colour when I was a boy. Bath used to look like it was filled with whiskey.
Glad I’ve come across your videos, your enthusiasm is contagious and it makes me more excited/less nervous to take on some of these trails myself in a couple of months!
Wow Becca, exciting! may your laces be forever muddy, and you, forever happy. Pinky and the brain, brain, brain, brain! 🤣Ooooooooooooooooooo boop

Enthusiasm in abundance and the giggly bubbles of excitement just trigger my own quirky giggle fits as I feel the desire to get out and go on an adventure. Just back from the WHW and Ben Nevis and I am somewhat confused, I feel I can't recall the journey, can't reflect on where I have been as it's been a matter of cleaning and tidying and back to work as normal, so I am finding myself watching other's adventures to try and trigger my memories. It is working somewhat. Thanks :)
Hi, just found your videos. Love em, you're such a wacky bird love ya. You bring humour to your journey and a lot of entertainment. Thanks.
First 10 seconds and I can’t wipe the smile off my face from your happiness and enthusiasm, nice one Becca

Hi from San Diego, USA! Excellent video and I look forward to following your JOG adventure. Cracked up at your Pinky and the Brain reference:) Your filter should be safe for water discolored by tanins from plants/leaves and even livestock urine ... though it won't taste great. Filters won't work on chemicals from farmland runoff tthough. Keep on smiling and laughing ... it's contagious 😂

Will be great to see your route on this as there are so many ways to go. I have been planning on doing this for years, but starting at the other end, at Bournemouth and adding the complete south west coast path to the trail, Offas Dyke path from Chepstow to Prestatyn, across the canal paths towards Edale, the Pennine way, John Muir trail across to join the West Highland Way, Cape Wrath trail, and across to top to John O Groats.
Loved the video.❤

What a fantastic video. Scotland is such a stunning place along your route. Couldn't ask for better views. You have such a bubbly attitude I could watch and listen to you for hours. I think this is the first time I've seen you with your hair down. That was a good tip from Clair with the foot powder. I love watching her channel as well. Looks like you are making good progress. Can't wait for your next video. Take care of those feet and stay safe. 🎈🎈❤

Happy trail and all the best! Im on the train to Helensburgh to do John Muir Way coast to coast, will be awesome! Just the weather seems clouds and rain the whole week or two haha but whatever, as long as we are happy on the trail😂 Have fun.
A great start to the long walk home and constantly facing a fear of heights. I look forward to following the rest, here and on Insta, as and when you can. For whatever it's worth, I thought your hair looks incredible! Many would probably style their hair to imitate those curls. 😊 All the very best, Becca.

Hello muddy , great video , hope youre doing well . Well done you for starting your walk of memories, you seen some beautiful sights. Awww thanks lovely. Yeah the dartmoor fight took a lot of my time, but back on the hiking, and hoping to upload to the tube while I go 😍😍
You'll have worked it out by now but most of our rivers and waterways are peat stained, especially after rain. It's fine to drink after filter.

Good on you for doing this length of trail! Don't worry bout the cows - the ones in the background were stirks (young males) and they usually go a bit crazy when they're all together but normal female cows are fine!
@stuartchester6899

Not with calves mate.Cows kill more than the males.trample season is early on when they are first brought out to pasture
The water is coloured from peat I live in the area and have drunk it un filtered and filtered many times with no ill effects
Looks like you was very excited to start the journey 0:45

I’m a Scot,Glaswegian and we really are a decent lot,would help anybody in need. We’re not all like is often portrayed with the boozing and fighting 👍😂
how many miles does one add by going back to get the camera? :) well done so far and let's hope you're walking towards even better weather. have fun! I'm looking forward to your next videos... (p.s. never run next to cows. they are very curious, the will follow walkers, but if you run, they run)
@muddy_bootlaces
Жыл бұрын
Omg yes, I should really factor that in 😂😂 as for the cows, I walk slowly, sometime arms put if I need to go close to them in a path... They frek me out lol
And I thought people who cycled this were hardcore!
Seems Scottish land owners are taking the p*ss, pushing their fences right to the edge of cliffs... None of those I saw in your video were old, ancient fences. As with England it's a case of "Get orf moi laaand"! Love the videos.
@muddy_bootlaces

There is now a complete public coast path for England , that fencing would not be allowed on the England Coast Path now. You are right though, sadly we do not have the same right to roam as in Scotland as the land owning fraternity is too powerful at the moment.
The colouring in the water will likely be to do with the peat at the bottom of the lake / bog. It won't be bull urine.
@muddy_bootlaces
Жыл бұрын
Ahhh that's good to know! It was on sand though, on a beach, so no bog around, but maybe it washed down river...
Out of curiosity. I work in a factory and have walked the pennine way and large bits of Scotland and the Peak District. How do you fund this? This is my dream.
Congratulations on starting your journey 🙂 Like the talk trick from Claire ⭐ Never been charged by a cow always friendly 🐮 The colour of the water looks the rock to me tasts of iron I bet ?
