The Longest GraviTrax MARBLE RUN
Ойын-сауық
We set 2 world records!
🌎 The longest GraviTrax track ever built!
🌎 The longest (distance) marble run on a GraviTrax track!
📅 The GraviTrax Building Event:
On May 7, 2022, a group of over 40 people assembled a continuous GraviTrax track that was 1/8th of a mile long, over 200 meters! The track was built of 100% genuine Ravensburger GraviTrax pieces. This broke the previous record of longest GraviTrax-compatible track (50m) held by Eric M. GraviTrax ( • 50 Meter lange Gravitr... ). Compounding the difficulty of our task, our record-breaking GraviTrax track was built outdoors on a sidewalk. The marbles had to contend with headwinds, trees dropping their spring blooms on the track, and a sideways-sloping and sometimes uneven sidewalk.
🟢 The Marble Run:
Once complete, we ran marbles on the track in an attempt to achieve the world's longest run on a GraviTrax track. Though we didn't get a run of 1/8th of a mile, we did set the world record. See how far we got!
🙏🏻 Thanks:
A hearty thanks to everyone who participated in this epic GraviTrax marble run build! I have tried to list everyone in the video credits, but if I missed your name, please forgive me.
🏘️ LACR HOA:
Thanks to the Lakes at Castle Rock Homeowner's Association for providing their permission and traffic cones for the event.
⚙️ How it Works:
GraviTrax marble runs are powered by gravity. The marbles gain speed from the tilt of the GraviTrax track relative to the earth's gravitational field, and from GraviTrax action tiles like the Scoop, the Hammer, and the Magnetic Cannon. It is ultimately the angle of the surfaces on which the marbles roll that powers GraviTrax marble runs. Height tiles are combined with baseplates to set the final height adjustment, giving the track an angle, making the marbles roll.
🔗 Here are some links to the designs we used in the track, and the planning to make it to 1/8th of a mile. Most of the designs were based on the limits of my GraviTrax inventory. For example, we had to build using curves in the first part of the track, because I didn't have enough junction tiles and 3-way-merge tiles.

I hope you enjoy this video, and have as much fun watching it as we had making it! This was not only a marble run, it was a GraviTrax building event with over 40 people!

Heheh, I’ve got a lot of parts already, however not even CLOSE to the amount you have, would love to see another one of these when the power expansion comes out!

You didn’t have enough height to make it that far
So fun to be involved in this-thx for inviting us!

You're welcome. Thanks for coming and bringing the crew!
longest gravitrax marble run!!! So amazing!!!😍😍😍👍👍
This is really impressive I do feel like it could have gone all the way if there wasn’t a cannon on the thin rails

Yes if they were normal rails it would be fine but it wasn’t
The best thing is the smile 😁 of the people, this is the record !!! Good boy 🤗🤗

That's what happened when we tore it down...a kid decided to ride his bike over the track. 😆
What a cool record and what a lot of work. 😬But super cool to see how you built it and also broke the record.👍👍

Great video. Congratulations to you all.
I must admit, I never heard of this, but it was certainly fun to watch!

Yes, true. It was very nice. For me it was a lot of organizing work up front, and a lot of directing on the day of the event, so I didn't fully appreciate it until watching the video footage afterward.
Sehr gute Idee sehr gut gemacht super weiter so genial

Did all the neighbours help? 😅 Great Idea - and a lot of baseplates...

We live in a large community, so this was only a handful of my neighbors. It was mostly families whose kids I had taught in GraviTrax Kids Club. Yes, I had to use almost all my baseplates. Afterward I had to clean each one… 😰 still working on that. 😆

Really fun direction you are taking lately with your Gravi-Entertainment! Congrats for your energy 🙌 Would love to do something like this, looks like so much fun you had 💚 But things like this can only be built on US sidewalks, I'm afraid ^^ No chance we can ever take this up on our French medieval cobblestones 😂
@MaskedMarble
Жыл бұрын
Yes, I totally understand. Even most US sidewalks are not this level; I had to pick the location carefully, and it just happened to be across the street from my house. 😁 🏠

Part list? >:D
@MaskedMarble
Жыл бұрын
I know your question is probably joking, but yes there was a parts list. See column T of this spreadsheet. It was only a guideline for building, and we made changes on the fly. And the parts list doesn't include the scoops, cannons, and hammers, because we were using them as needed when the marble started to slow down. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nO96A2afbD_pvFgVtKATgweFMEmJTgI-ce0BO3P3Wlc/edit?usp=sharing

Check out the updated description for some more behind-the-scenes stuff. I've linked to 3 documents that included some of the length/section planning, the 4 track layouts we used, and the overall build strategy.

@@MaskedMarble Lol no way. I don’t have the baseplates to build this or better yet outclass you;as I only have 30, but if the chance comes around, I will attempt to beat said record. Also, does it have to be in a straight line, or is it allowed to make it turn for my convenience depending on location?
@MaskedMarble
Жыл бұрын
@@ethanferret7131 No need to be straight. Almost nothing in this world is perfectly straight anyway. From geometry, we understand that distance and space can be curved. So if the goal is to know the distance of a marble track that is built along a curve, we easily can calculate the distance. Just like the distance traversed by a planet around the sun is not straight.Even perimeters are measurements of distance.
