Your thoughts about being grateful and thankful instead of having discouraging thoughts, really resonated with me. Even at my age, it's always good to have a reminder now and then. Thanks. Have a great day. 😄

Don't look too closely, but I'm over 70, lol. I grew up on the farm in western Oklahoma where we raised wheat, milo, & sorghum. We had a big garden and chickens but bought milk and eggs from the neighbor because my mother was 40 yrs old with 3 girls under 5, and she cooked for 2 hired men at noon 6 months out of the year, with only a swamp cooler for a/c. My fondest memories are of helping my dad and granddad, learning to drive the tractor through gates at 6 yrs old, learning to drive the truck in the field during harvest unloading the combine (big 12 ft header, lol) at 8 yrs old. That's how I learned to shift a manual transmission, by watching my dad, and imitating him while returning to the starting spot while he made another round. I also drove the tractor while he and a hired hand put out irrigation pipe, or picked them up, and just allll kinds of farm chores. We only did a few things growing up. We went to a 2 room school in the country for our first 8 yrs of schooling, went to church every time the doors were open, worked a lot, and our social life was with our cousins and community/church/school friends. We didn't have a TV, so we read, listened to the radio, and played table games (mostly on the floor, lol) or played outside. I've logged A LOT of hours on a tractor without a cab, no a/c before I went off to college in the big city, haha (Oklahoma City). After college, I got a teaching job but continued to drive tractor for my cousins in the summer for extra money--$5/hr, work as many hours as I wanted :) Life was simpler in the 50's 60's and even the 70's and 80's. Now I've been married and widowed twice, but God has always provided. I've had a good life, not an easy life. You guys might be struggling now to juggle work, build a homestead, raise a family, figure out how to fix things and build things, but you blessed by having good neighbors and being a good neighbor. You're a part of the FRAMILY!! I enjoy watching all you Arkansas homesteaders. Thanks for sharing your lives with this old woman ;)

When I was a young girl, I grew up in a small town in Oklahoma, in the 50’s/60’s. There was a bunch of kids in my neighborhood and we all used to play yard games such as crochet, bad mitten, red light-green light and even lay out in our yards under the stars and look at all the constellations! We would ride our bicycles, skate, in the winter we went sledding in the summer we had swimming parties at the city pool. We just had the best childhood ever! After I married my husband and I used to go camping. There were always friends to join.😊❤

Growing up in the 50's, I remember Tuesdays were my mom's errand day. She would pack a lunch, we would leave early and when she was done, we would go to a park for our lunch. Rainy days, the county library, to get a bunch of books. She always had something good planned.

In the 70’s my mom would send me and my brothers out to pick wild blackberries. It was a great experience. We had to cover up wearing blue jeans and a denim shirt to protect us from thorns and it was hot hot hot. Mom usually made jam from our buckets of berries

🤠 WATER LINES WINTER: Dirt over moist, cold will penetrate if dry, plenty of leaves, grasses, hay,etc to insulate, over top your lines ;your connecting/meter , you'll want to construct something to extra insulate, yet easily access' if bitter cold and you have a spigot inside, a steady drip, watch out for heat tapes, rodents that sneak in can damage and cause shorts/fire. CONGRADULATIONS

The journey is LOOOONG but oh so rewarding when you look back on it. Take it all one day at a time and enjoy the ride. Plus I will also give you another, "You're welcome", for letting Micah shoot my Sig....hehehe. Glad to see the water running and very soon it will be into the house and not just from a hose. Getting that power connected will be a BIG leap forward into your journey....Trust me....haha!! We love y'all...but I might have to fight Micah for my moms Navajo Fry Bread this weekend...hahahaha.
