My daughter lived in Chatsworth about 25 years ago, we visited there from the UK quite a few times. A neighbour told me of the Iverson Ranch and the Garden of the Gods, so, off we went to look at the True Lone Ranger Rock. I had a close encounter with two huge coyotes who were stalking me, I assume they had a den with pups nearby.

A Widowed Mother and her six kids moved to Florida, in the early sixties from North Carolina. We had never saw a TV, but my Aunt & Uncle had one, and The Lone Ranger was to be on within an hour! It was something us 6 kids will never forget. The loud Trumpet played and that huge man with a mask riding the first White Horse we had ever seen!! It amazed us and it's all we talked about , Kids at school said we were a poor family, and that's when we realized that was true..So, we begged Santa that Christmas, for a TV of our own. Santa didn't let us down!! The Lone Ranger you might say, taught us good values every episode , I'm sure Thousands across the Country learned about life like we did, from watching him and Tonto. Great Memories never Die.

My wife and I sit down for supper each day and watch a couple of episodes of The Lone Ranger! As a 10 year old kid I used to gather at a friends house who had a television to watch the The Lone Ranger along with others at that time! Several of us boys in the neighborhood went to this little guys house as none of us had a television yet and his mother always baked us cookies while we dreamed of being on Silver riding off to do good against the bad guys! A wonderful program to instill in little minds about always doing what is right! Thank you for sharing this! I have often wondered where this was filmed!

I was pleasantly surprised to see this video. I remember watching in the early 1950's on our 7 inch Philco B&W tv. I loved that program. It gave us kids a great role model.

I was there a few years ago, and can't explain the excitement of being there at Iverson's. I climbed on top of the rock to cap off the day. What a thrill. I think if all the undergrowth and bushes were down like they were in the movies, it would look more like we're used to seeing. Except for the condos, that is!!

I was there a couple of years ago with my daughter and had much the same reaction as you. The rock is clearly visible from and close to the road but we missed it the first time. I knocked on the door of one of the houses and the lady was kind enough to walk almost to it with us. From there we tracked down Corriganville but it burned in the early 70s and only the foundations remain. If you go, the Gene Autry museum is a short drive away as is the Reagan library. I will never forget that day.

Awesome !!! It is my ruling, that they can never build houses on that land or that path, it is secret ground and reserved for the memory of one of the greatest superheroes ever " The Lone Ranger" . Long live the memory of Clayton Moore and his trusty horse "Silver". If there is any super hero that is "American", the Lone Ranger is it. His spirit speaks for the land,freedom and should be recognized in the military for a man whom fought for freedom,peace and never backed down. Cheers, from a Canadian

Although I never had the opportunity to visit the LR Rock my older brother has seen it several times. He also visited the Lone Ranger cave where the first scenes were shot of Tonto nursing the LR back to health and the mask was cut from LR's brother's vest. Thank you for showing the rock :-). I"am fan of The Lone Ranger and if they run one of his shows and I have seen it I will see it again and agin over and over. We did have it on Comcat for a month for 2 hours at a time. But they pull the channel :-( If fans see this call comcast and let know we are still here.

I'm old enough to have watched the originals on TV (when it was working) as a kid. I'm now almost 75 and have a bunch of episodes on DVD. I think I'll watch "Enter the Lone Ranger" where Tonto finds a sick and wounded L.R. when I go to bed tonight. Too bad kids don't have some kind of hero to look up to like the Lone Ranger, Hopalong Cassidy, or Roy Rogers anymore. They'd be better off for it. Funny thing....all those guys had guns and used them and we all played cowboy with our six shooter cap guns but we didn't grow up to be killers.

Thanks for posting your video. Beside The Lone Ranger TV series, a large number of movie serials and films starting in the 1920s were made in Chatsworth and "next door" in Simi Valley . The Iverson Ranch and Corriganville provided a variety of natural environments for productions too numerous to list here but one well-known film is The Treasure of Sierra Madre. One section of the Iverson Ranch that is very recognizable was called The Garden of The Gods. Today this area survives as a small public park of the same name. Also used in films and running under this area is a railroad tunnel that when made was the longest in the world. It is still actively used by Amtrak for their coastal runs.

A great man who was unashamed of being an American. He loved his country and was not embarrassed to say so. Where are the "stars" of today that can say that?? By the way, who played the Lone Ranger in the latest flick??? I think more people can tell you who played The Lone Ranger 60 years ago than who played him just a few years back.🎈🎈

After many years I thought the Lone Ranger's Rock never existed anymore.But it is still existed.The Authorities should have cleaned the bushes and shrubs around the Lone Ranger's Rock. Make it a nice place to visit. They should have protected and preserved the serounding area. Please take care of the place and the Lone Ranger Rock.Maybe the next generations will still want to see the Lone Ranger's Rock.

I think the Lone Ranger opening scenes were shot around 1949. There seems to be a lot more brush around the rock since then. I couldn't believe that there were buildings so close to the rock. I remember an episode of 'Have Gun Will Travel' from 1957 where the roof of a modern building can be seen in the distance.

Looked like Mother Nature put some wear tear on such iconic memorabilia. Also, one wonders how many sneaked of with a piece. As for me i remember watching the reruns. They sure don't make shows like this anymore.

There is an animal refuge in southern Utah that claims the Lone Ranger rock is on their property. I was there around 12 years ago and took pictures of the rock. But the one you photographed is the real thing. Here's a piece of trivia...The white horse in Gone With the Wind that Scarlett's dad fell off of went on to become Silver in the Lone Ranger.

Thanks for that - great to see that location still there. From an old timer who watched in England in the 1960's. We used to have to wait till Grandstand ended - with the never ending football results which made us so impatient. The that magic moment with the opening sequence and the William Tell overture music.

For more history, go to the town of Incline Village in Nevada, near the city of Reno. It's part of Washoe County, and is where the outdoor scenes for the Bonanza TV series were shot. It's on the shores of Lake Tahoe, and will be well worth the trip, as the scenery is gorgeous! I understand the pine trees are known as Ponderosa Pines, but that's just rumor, as far as I know.

DeedsResearcher The trees were called Ponderosa pines long before TV was invented! The series writers got the name of the ranch from them! Redwoods are the same- people named places after rivers, tree species, animals, landmarks, etc and events ,

In the beginning of the film the werewolf of London those families western rocks can be seen. The Lone Ranger too. It's not Tibet it's southern CA! Other rocks are studio fakes on the sound stage.

Is the property the Lone Ranger Rock is located on, protected or public? I would think the property will get developed if not protected. It looks like developed is close to it on at least one side.

Excellent..when i was young after watching lone ranger i would jump aboard my trusty shetland pony steed..ROBIN and race around the farm..killing the imaginary bad guys..RIN TIN TIN also got me going..after watching it..i would charge off shooting indians..sheez..loved my child hood heroes..💯👍
