    Christmas came early this year, I bought the course with video upgrade on the spot! Looking forward to see those initial lines common at the common level, I get those lines a lot (and loose against them LOL). But some of the knight e5 lines with greek gift on h7 are true poison and got a lot of victories there as well. Thanks for sharing John!

    Yess! Nice! I have been using the London system in bullet. My blitz rating was much higher than my bullet rating. And my bullet rating skyrocketed after using this system. Of course I needed to improve in other areas like timing, mindset etc. My bullet was 1500 a few months ago. I am around 1850-1950 in bullet and blitz now. But I've plateaud now. Your new repratoire is good news for me. Thanks!!

    I know you're going to find this super nitpicky but the blue graphic clashes with the board and is distracting. Better to use a warmer color, and not white lettering. It's just too much going on graphically. It's like your eyes are being pulled towards multiple points of interest, and when you're looking at something for a long time, it makes it difficult. Not just making this up, I have years of graphic design background. Just trying to help :) John pause the video at look at the board. You will find your eyes/attention being pulled toward the blue. Way too much visual tension. If you want my version of how I would've done this, just reply, and I would be happy to show you how I'd mock it up (for free of course).

    What's your reply to people who think that newer players who pick up the London are, in the long run, damaging their growth and education by adopting a 'system' instead of a branching opening with a larger theory base?

  • @JohnBartholomewChess

    This is treasonous behavior John. You shouldn't be sharing the London system. We should all speak out against this monstrosity. Not encourage more people to play this snooze fest opening. Why John? Why? :(

  • @awaretenacious

    @awaretenacious

    5 жыл бұрын

    This "snooze fest" of an opening is very strong. I have had many checkmating attacks which have resulted from using this opening. Furthermore, black often overextends on the q-side. This allows white to build a pawn chain on b2-e5, along with establishing a light-squared bishop bearing down on h7 via c2. Additionally, once the b2-e5 pawn chain is established, sometimes the dark-squared bishop can be exchanged for black knight on f6, which often creates checkmating attacks for white's queen and light-squared bishop (sometimes a "rook lift" is possible via e3-h3, bearing down on h7). The London System is sound and creates dynamic attack scenarios for white.

    @@DuffmanChess It's cool. But, chess is a game of war. It's not a poem or a painting. An opening needs to be effective and sound. I tire of chess players such as "tactical" players applauding and promoting unsound openings. They scream "be aggressive" or "play dynamically". Being "aggressive" or "dynamic" should be based on sound chess principles and ideas. And--if it isn't--it will be refuted by strong players. Chess is logic and calculation. That's it. There can be beauty in logic and calculation. However, beauty and artistic expression is not the goal or point of playing chess (especially if you like to win). I'm a poet. I don't think artistic expression is wrong or invalid. In fact, I believe quite the opposite is true. I just tire of people whining that certain openings are "boring". Many of the people I have played complained to me that I play "dry" or "boring" openings. I play sound openings because that is what a chess player should do if they wish to win.
