Brother, what separates you from other supposed men’s wear KZreadrs is your focus on exposing the differences between timeless styling vs men’s fashion, which is dictated by current trends. I appreciate the education I receive from watching your videos. I appreciate your balance…I am the same. I am a street cat from Harlem so I rock uptowns, polos, hoodies, and jeans. However, I am also a professional and my presentation is very important. Your content has helped me to elevate my style game exponentially. Thank you and as always…I’m proud of you Brother💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾

That’s great to hear that my content has been helpful. I think it’s an important for one to be able to do both. It’s odd to me when I see certain guys I know that really care about their appearance when it comes to street fashion but see them in a suit and they have both buttons buttoned. Why not keep the same energy with Menswear also? I’ll never understand that. Also big shoutout to Harlem, I used to hang out there a lot in my younger days. There was a spot called Skeme or Scheme on 125, that was my spot. And a cat named Ali sold mixtapes right out front. The good ole days

Cuffs, pleats, suspenders are definitely subjective and a matter of choice. I definitely think these lean into the classic menswear style and are not "requirements" but as I have gotten more into the menswear lifestyle I definitely am leaning towards the cuffed and pleated trouser as well as double breasted wide lapel suits. Keep preaching brother 🙏🏽

Great stuff, sir! I really like your tips on matching a pocket square with your tie. You are so right about the dreaded triangle, too. I think the “dreaded” triangle can also be caused by a jacket cut with open quarters. That’s seems to have been the style for a long time. Although getting the buttoning point of the jacket and the rise of the pants right can negate the effect of open quarters.

Love the great content. For me I stopped wearing cuffs in my 30s (58 now). I didn’t like the cuff breaking up the linear flow from my pleats to my shoes. I also stopped wear suits and other dress pants with belt loops. All of my none causal pants are made for me with side straps. At 5’11, not having the horizontal line of a belt gives mean a clean linear appearance from top down. Please keep the lessons coming👍🏾. I'm currently in a total wardrobe makeover- for something timeless and sustainable. My workplace sadly is business casual only- no suits. I can however wear sportcoats and trousers/denim. I've acquired a navy Spier and McKay Neo cut suit. Unsurpassed value! I'm loving your grey herringbone suit in the video. Should my next suit be a charcoal or is mid grey acceptable? 3 season weight before seasonal suiting? Thanks again Vlad.

I’m biased. My dad, who is 80, rocked a sharp suit back in his heyday and was a non-pleat, non-cuff guy so I tend to follow his lead. My view is it’s a combo of body type and preference. If you fit in the average range of not too tall or short and your thighs are not particularly thick or thin, do as you prefer. If you’re Mr. Thunder Thighs or Sir Stubby Legs then you probably wanna rock cuffs and pleats. As for me, I’ve long been my dad’s son. However, maybe it’s time for me to try both pleats and cuffs. Because the one thing I do agree with is don’t knock something until you try it. As for lapels and pocket squares? I’m definitely on team wide/yes. In addition, I rock boutonnières whenever I can. I’m also planning to get some lapel pins. Cuff links is also something I want to get into. Anyway, keep up the good work, Vladimir!

Great vid Vladimir! Really hope this info gets out there coz these details really do make a big difference....dreaded triangle :D One I would add to the list (not sure what I would take out from your list) would be showing too much shirt cuff. It kind of is in the same boat as the suit jacket being too short, it just seems very childish.

You’re right! Although IDK which one bothers me more, that or the suit jacket sleeves being too long like a kid wearing their dad’s clothes. They’re both pretty awful.

The dreaded triangle is just about the toughest one for me to avoid. I have such a long torso that even jackets that are more classically cut (and obviously long enough for me) paired with standard high or mid-high rises give me the issue. I have a S&M custom suit that I put the maximum rise into and it still isn't high enough. lol.

I think it's one of those nice to haves if you're into that but not a requirement. It's usually also more about the jacket balance than it is the trouser rise. You might have a slightly round back and might be walking out of your coat, meaning your jacket most likely flares open when it hugs your collar. Easiest alteration is to shorten the collar C -> c. Not the easiest alteration, but also not the hardest. But then again, could just also own the triangle, as some designers embrace it as a style choice anyway.

I feel you and see what you mean. I’d say even S&M have limitations when it comes to their trousers’ rise. You probably won’t get the perfect fit until you go bespoke.

I feel you're steering your audience in the right direction. Though sometimes it seems as you're removing the person's individuality. For example I like a brown based sport coat as a staple more than a navy blue. I make the necessary adjustments to suit what I feel looks best on myself based on my complexion. I'm 90% with you on style and sequence, but I maintain my personal style. I don't want to be the cookie cutter gentleman.

I teach my exact process from beginning to end without hiding anything. Guys are free to take what suits them and live the rest. My advice is usually based on me speaking to someone starting out and trying to establish their wardrobe. Once they have the basics, I hope that they can find their own personal style and take it from there. The funny thing is even though I tell everything I know and exactly how I do it, I’m never worried that if I go somewhere, I will find a guy there dressing exactly like me. And that’s because we’re all individuals and something will be different. Dressing well is an art, nothing cookie cutter about it.

Your videos are masterclasses on how to dress. Your advice is as timeless and classic as the clothes you love. The only suggestion I would respectfully mention is that without attention to grooming you could wear the best tailoring and the best shoes and needing a haircut, beard trim and manicure kills the look. You are the best.

He has mentioned grooming in a recent video on a similar subject. But I wholeheartedly agree with you. I am currently falling foul of one the the points you brought up, ; the manicure. Sadly I've been turned away quite a few times simply because the salon does not serve men. Unfortunate for them to turn away custom, but those establishments are likely not the best for me.

I follow pretty much all the tips except I don't care for wearing watches, and I think shirt triangle is too expensive to fix in rtw, needs custom and possibly bespoke

  • @v_r_

What’s up, Jason? I agree with you on the triangle and it also depends on your shape. If you have a really long torso for example, then it’s tougher OTR. But if you have a regular built, I’d recommend Berg & Berg, Natalino and Spier & Mackay’s Neapolitan cut. All come with a higher rise and a lower buttoning point.

Fam, I really LOL’d when read this. My bad, bro 😂😂. I remember when I made that realization myself and the only thing that survived was a Ralph Lauren Purple Label tie that I still wear to this day. 2 inch cuffs? I wear cuffs…but not 2”…more like 1 1/2 inch. Also, shouldn’t you have a slight break between the end of your pants and top of your shoes?
