"What's Happening!!" is a beloved American sitcom that debuted on ABC as a summer series on August 5, 1976, before becoming a regular weekly show (November 1976 to April 1979). Inspired by the film "Cooley High" written by Eric Monte, the series was brought to life by TOY Productions, a company formed by Bud Yorkin, Saul Turteltaub, and Bernie Orenstein following Yorkin's split from Norman Lear and Tandem Productions.
