This was breathtakingly beautiful. The new script, especially Mufasa's updated lines just goes straight to the heart. I faught back tears during the opening scene, it was so beautiful. That thing Rafiki does to greet Mufasa (then Simba) will summon tears and warm the heart. The music, oh my god! Little Simba and Nala were cute forever. Then there's James Earl Jones' voice as Mufasa, who will forever be the greatest lion the world ever had. Then Timon and Pumba, who once again stole the show! This was such a gift of a movie. Majestic!

Cult classic?!?!?! It's the highest grossing traditionally animated film of all time and was the highest grossing animated film of all time until Frozen broke the record 20 years later with the help of inflation!!! It inspired an entire section of Disney World and is a pinnacle of Disney animation and a major part of American culture. It is most definitely NOT a cult classic.

The one thing I wish was kept from the original was the momentum; the pacing of the voice - it added a certain level of impact. So instead of, "he lives in you" I remember so distinctly how rafiki said it like, "he lives... in you."
