The Line Sculpture Trail [4K]: London Walk, 2021, May 8th

The Line is London's first dedicated public art walk. The trail runs from Queen Elizabeth park in Stratford, to the O2 on the Greenwich peninsula, approximately following the meridian from Greenwich. This video traces the trail from North to South. To learn more about the trail:

Along the route, there are 12 sculptures (from North to South):
1) [0:16] Anish Kapoor: "ArcelorMittal Orbit": It is the UK's tallest sculpture at 115 metres tall.
2) [0:16] Carsten Höller: "The Slide": Entwined in the ArcelorMittal Orbit, this 178m long steel slide, is the world's tallest and longest tunnel slide ( as of 2020): it offers a 40-second descent, 12 twists and turns, and speeds of up to 24 km/h.
3) [21:30] Thomas J. Price: "Reaching Out": at Three miles Green only the third sculpture of a black woman in the UK.
4) [38:40] Abigail Fallis: "DNA DL90": This 9.3 m sculpture, commissioned in 2003 is made up of 22 shopping trolleys in the shape of a double helix. It was to celebrate the 50th anniversary of American biologist James Watson and English physicist Francis Cricks's discovery of DNA.
5) [47:50] Joanna Rajkowska: "The Hatchling". This work is a 180 x 240 x 180 cm replica of the egg of a blackbird, one of Britain's most common birds, known for its song and distinctive blue-green coloured brown-speckled eggs. This is a mixed media work and sound equipment plays the noises made by chicks as they prepare to hatch.
6) [1:27:37] Laura Ford: Bird Boy (without a tail). A sculpture of a lost child, wearing a bird costume standing motionless on the edge of a pontoon in the Royal Docks, hoping he will go unnoticed.
7) [1:29:42] Larry Achiampong: "Sanko-Time": Sanko-time is an audio work by British-Ghanaian artist, Larry Achiampong, commissioned by The Line. This site-specific piece has been composed to accompany the 20-minute round-trip on the Emirates Air Line cable car from Greenwich Peninsula to the Royal Docks, reflecting on the historical context of the River Thames during the journey across the water. As the work is hosted online, it can also be enjoyed from anywhere in the world:

I have played one part of the track (the track is split into two - one for each direction of the cable car trip) over the video as you cross the river. All credit goes to the artist. Please check out their work:

8) [1:41:27] Anthony Gormley: "Quantum Cloud": Evoking the quantum age, and suggesting an unstable relation between energy and mass, it questions whether the body is produced by the field or the field by the body.
9) [1:46:15] Gary Hume: "Liberty Grip": sculpture in bronze on a monumental scale, alluding to traditional commemorative sculpture, in three sections modelled on the arm of a stone mannekin.
10) [1:50:27] Richard Wilson: "A slice of reality": Standing permanently on the foreshore of the Thames, this 21.34 x 10.6 x 8.84m sculpture is a 1/8th slice of what was originally the Arco Trent sand dredger.
11) [1:52:05] Thomson & Craighead: Here: his sculpture is a standard road sign displaying the 24,859 mile distance around the earth and back.
12) [1:54:07] Alex Chinneck: A Bullet from a Shooting Star: this 35 metres (115 ft) 15 tonne work takes the form of an upside down electricity pylon, balancing on its tip, leaning at a precarious angle.
