The Lindsay Shepherd Affair: Update

I'm sure many of you remember Lindsay Shepherd, the teaching assistant at Wilfred Laurier University who was subjected to an unwarranted inquisition after showing a video of me debating Nicholas Matte about Bill C16.
In her statement of claim (which I read in its totality in this video), Shepherd notes that her mistreatment continued unabated at Wilfred Laurier, despite the university's hypothetical apology and offer to mend its ways. She also claimed that she has been rendered unemployable as an academic (a claim I believe, having served on many university search committees, and knowing full well that any whiff of scandal is enough to disquality a candidate entirely).
I talked to her lawyer after reading her claim, and decided that I would also pursue Wilfred Laurier and the professors and administrators directly responsible for this debacle.
I am not convinced that Wilfred Laurier learned what needed to be learned even after being dragged through the national and international press, in what was the biggest scandal that ever hit a Canadian university.
Maybe two lawsuits will help rectify that. We'll see.
NOTE: The allegations in these statements of claim are simply that, at this stage. They have not been tested in a court of law, and cannot therefore be considered proved.

@@strange63635 Yep. When 2 people argue, which you often see in debates, especially in Peterson's but not limited to him, you will notice that not everyone has the same definition of the same word. So it will save a lot of time and unnecessary tension if people can acknowledge their differences in definition of said word. For example, the word "racism". My definition of it, as do many others, include "discrimination". So to me, of asian heritage, if someone assumes I love rice and I am quick at math, I won't consider you racist, because there's no discrimination. It's stereotypical sure. Another man who disagrees with me, may simply have a different definition of the word "racism". All these are misunderstanding. So how many legs does an octopus have? Zero? Or Eight? Doesn't that depend on your definition of leg whether it includes "tentacles"? Calling a leg a tentacle doesn't make it a tentacle, and vice versa.

Since you are not omniscient, your perception is faulty and your self promoted enlightened labeling creates not only unfair errors [as in drone attacks] but also future violent reactions by all labeled or hurt and is so violence promoting which is evil. Lawyer friend's quick analysis of Peterson's case: "He would probably get damages for any personal loss, which in this case would be hard to quantify, but there are methods around that. He might get aggravated damages, which is when the nature of the tort (ie. Injury) was particularly malicious or humiliating. That being said, it was Lindsay who posted the video, so the court might decide that it wouldn't have been a huge deal if it had remained within that room. Punitive damages are awarded in order to act as a deterrent. So, if there is a sympathetic judge who is concerned about Laurier repeating this and the judge wants to punish Laurier, he might get those damages. But they're pretty uncommon. If he can prove that they're likely to reoffend, and if he can prove that this is an ongoing problem, he might have a case for punitive. But he'll almost definitely win something, which sends a statement at the very least. " Did you hear that the LGBTQ group on campus asked for more security measures and reinforced glass? My guess is that they are claiming that they feel unsafe because of how the situation has unfolded, with the school apologizing. Call them out on being a bully and then defaulting to the victim card to gain sympathy. Regardless of what happens, it's good that you and Lindsey are championing the resistance to this injustice.

Dude, you're supposed to file legal documents BEFORE they make you wear the prison uniform! But seriously, I hope you and Lindsay succeed in your suits. What happened to Lindsay was absolutely inexcusable and she deserves recompense. Moreover, the levels of defamation suffered by you and other public figures at the hands of both ideologues and careless media institutions has reached truly epic proportions. Most of these public figures have until recently been content to suffer this abuse without formal response, but I can sense that that general attitude is beginning to change. If your legal action can do anything to make these entities think twice before engaging in such defamation, then it has my full support.

SO TRUE!!! When we talk about respect for each other.. that is the bottom line.... for people to USE this as a basis to attack one another... just tells me they are a) not secure in themselves.. and b) are ACTUALLY the ones who are the abuser. To be gay is a choice... but to Force another, when really the intention [the MOTIVE -- what I believe Jordan was talking about here and needed stated about..] Is to Dominate another so that the accuser can FEEL free and accepted.. IS the SAME as an ABUSIVE Dominating Person in an Unhealthy relationship.. which We SEE happening .. What is ACTUALLY happening in the political arena.? Has anyone ELSE noted, noticed, this? So everyone talks talks talks...argues argue argues... but are we REALLY ADDRESSING the TRUE Problem underlying this? What is REALLY GOING ON? Why this Diversion for us to mob over, and end up not paying attention to What does really need to be guarded against? We need to be careful here, and observe, and act on That. Boy, if anything.. we need to pray for guidance and protection... and for healthy and stable heads to prevail.

Thank you mister Peterson! Pinned in a letter / 200 years ago, words I'm sure you've read. "Whilst men are linked together, they easily and speedily communicate the alarm of any evil design. They are enabled to fathom it with common counsel, and to oppose it with united strength. Whereas, when they lie dispersed, without concert, order, or discipline, communication is uncertain, counsel difficult, and resistance impracticable. Where men are not acquainted with each other’s principles, nor experienced in each other’s talents, nor at all practised in their mutual habitudes and dispositions by joint efforts in business; no personal confidence, no friendship, no common interest, subsisting among them; it is evidently impossible that they can act a public part with uniformity, perseverance, or efficacy. In a connection, the most inconsiderable man, by adding to the weight of the whole, has his value, and his use; out of it, the greatest talents are wholly unserviceable to the public. No man, who is not inflamed by vain-glory into enthusiasm, can flatter himself that his single, unsupported, desultory, unsystematic endeavours, are of power to defeat the subtle designs and united cabals of ambitious citizens. When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall, one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle."

This is where the US needs open party ticket proportional representation in the House of Representatives. This will allow voters to specifically vote for their side of the issues they can most about, as opposed to just voting for the lesser of two evils, for example: “The anti-political correctness party”, “The National Security party”, “The social justice warrior party”, “The anti-abortion party”, “The gun rights party”, “The Space party”, “the immigrant party”, and so forth. The reason why liberals are getting away with this thought police nonsense is because there are many conservatives in the US who are recent immigrants that want to protect their communities from Republicans who have stated they want to increase deportations. By separating out the Republicans who want to increase deportation into the National Security Party, the otherwise conservative immigrants will now have the ability to vote for a party that follows their values such as in voting for the anti-political correctness party that doesn’t simultaneously endanger them personally with other policies. If the anti-political correctness party wins enough seats (by their proportion of the total vote) then they could form a coalition with another Conservative party (like the gun rights party, which will likely have something like 40% of the seats based on the amount of gun owners the U.S. has) and pass rules such as prohibiting any university that fires a teacher on account of political speech from receiving any public funding, and imposing other sanctions on universities that reprimand students on account of political speech. Currently, with first past the post voting, politicians are disproportionately afraid of the most extreme voters in their parties, which on the both sides consist of very different kinds of substantially increased policing (on the Republican side there exist many white supremacists; on the Democratic Party’s side there exist the identity politics thought police). Once those voters are backing similarly extreme parties, the middle parties where Americans vote to increase their rights and limit tyranny in all its forms, and otherwise do cool space stuff will then be clearly visible as representing what people actually want to happen.
