I was taught growing up that being gay was a choice and that I shouldn't ever talk about it because it was a dirty topic. I remember being 7 years old and playing wedding with my best friend while my other friend videoed the "ceremony" with an old flip phone. When my mom found us, we were told to delete it and given a lecture about acting appropriately. I'll never forget the way my mother looked at me with disgust, or the fear in my best friends eyes when my mom mentioned her parents finding out. I'm still a lesbian and I'm still afraid, but I will never let hate stop me from embracing the love I feel.

Im here to tell you just how dangerous this is. My friend was a mormon. At 14 he was sent to a conversion center to help him "work on" his issue. They did horrible, vile things to him in the name of god and what was "right" His family would send him back there several times until the age of 18 when they kicked him out. This is when i first met him. We were close friends very quick. He was so damaged mentally and physically that he used lots of drugs to numb himself. Looking back I would have done things so differently and intervened, tried harder, anything. Just to save his life. 3 months after his 20th birthday he overdosed on heroin and god knows what else. His birthday he seemed so alive for a change and his outlook was brighter. We joked about being able to legally drink in a year. Being that we drank all the time it was quite funny. I talked to him that Friday and he was dead on Sunday. So many things I wish i could've and should've said. Im 38 and I still miss him all these years later

You will not draw them in by opening with "this is a sin that come with this consequence", you will only push them away and make them feel like enemies of the whole religion. Also, many other practices that were considered sinful are commonplace now such as divorce, but people have refrained from criticizing it because it is recognised that it is harmful to the persons state of mind and self esteem to be critical of it. Since we all know of someone who has gone through this, we can more easily relate to it, and not want people we feel akin to be harmed by such actions. So why then is it alright to harm the LGBT communities state of mind by criticizing something we feel we cannot change and is good for us even if you personally do believe it's a sin? Is there a double standard regarding some sin? Finally, while you and others may believe it is a sin to be gay, there are sects and Biblical interpretations that do not believe it is like this one: wouldjesusdiscriminate.org . Since we cannot prove beyond a doubt that your belief is any more correct than mine, we are at an impasse where we have to accept God as the only one who can judge and we can pray for mercy and guidance for each other. I would not try to force you to believe as I do and I appreciate it when others treat me with the same kindness. Peace be with you.

I was a queer Christian for a time (I am no longer a Christian but not because I am queer, just because I found that Christianity is just my religion). I live in Germany though, where most Christians are rather progressive in comparison to what I see in the US. Me being queer was not an issue and I know there are many communities that don't have an issue either. In my youth group was a lesbian who is still a devout Christian now, organizing events for younger ones while openly queer. I hope you find a group that accepts you as you are.

My parents although knew Gods stance on it they showed me love. My dad even went as far as going with me to West Hollywood and condemn all those crazy christians that had signs that read God Hates gays. he stood across the street and instead preached about Gods love and would not side with the radical christians. he prayed for many and the impact of love my pop recieved was awesome. But i knew it was a sin.. I did not pray away the gay.. I simply said "Jesus i choose you and will do whatever it takes to have a true relationship with you. I need you to help me change because i cannot change myself".. He not only changed my sexuality but so many other things i had carrying with me. He wants us to willing ask and have the desire to choose him over our sin, no matter what that sin is. He changes..It's called a miracle. but if a person wants their sin and God.. He cannot help anyone change if they don't want to and trying to get him to change his will to fit anyones lifestyle is a delusion. I am living proof of the change God made in me.

People have different life experiences though, so who am I to judge. But I'm curious, are you going against the way god made you in the 1st place, or did you have a psychological trauma that made you attracted to the same sex? I only ask because sexuality is determined by hormones, so if you were always straight but had a period in your life when you were not, what would be the cause of that. I became aware that sexuality is fluid and started accepting mine. I also started thinking that God made me the way I am and that he loves me for who I am. It’s been a process but I’ve been to Pride parades twice and I just felt the love and pure joy of the people. I’m in a straight relationship. I thank God for it almost every day, but if it happened to not work out and I started dating a non-binary person or a woman, who cares? Personality is what really matters to me. If the reason has something to do with God being against it, that's not true. I myself am Christian and part of the LGBTQ+ community in many ways. God made us exactly the way we are. Oh my goodness. This is such a good video and spiritually challenged me. I know that there is a lot of hurt in the LGBTQ+ Community but my heart broke when I heard their testimonies of abuse and rejection. I completely agree that in order to love people we need to be uncomfortable and spend time with the opposite side of us. Because isn’t that what love is? Even when we disagree we find a ground where we can both appreciate, respect, and truly want the best for that other person. Thank you so much for making this video. This has made a huge impact on me; I deeply appreciate you’re open mindedness and curiosity. Again thank you for making this report.

I think people shouldn't have kids if they aren't prepared to have a LGBT kid, disabled kid, a kid who might go against their religion, a kid who dates outside their race, a kid with different values and opinions, mentally ill kid, etc.. It causes stress on the kid they chose to bring here all because it doesn't sit right with them.

I was a Christian until a pastor pulled me aside and told me I was going to hell for questioning my sexuality. (I’m bi) and he then told my dad to kick me out of the house. I was 17. He told me I was no better than murderers. He compared me loving people to killing people. I can’t believe that loving people is a reason to go to hell... I haven’t been to church since because in Texas where I live there is no lgbt friendly churches near me and I don’t want to be made to hate myself again. I don’t want to feel bad that I am myself. So I don’t identify as any religion but I do believe there is likely a higher power but I am just going to live my best life the way I see fit, not following an outdated book written by people.

Trust me you can be gay and Christian...they arent mutually exclusive. I'm really sorry you were hurt by that evil pastor

I hope his parents are not deceiving him like that. He may never trust them again. A really bad experience at conversion therapy camp can require years of therapy to recover. Get as much information about the camp as you can. Ask him to write you a letter using the camps return address. Then you can find out. If it is really a weight loss camp you can relax a little. Either way let him know you will love and support him when he returns.

God loves us all... he offers that love in the form of forgiveness..... but He doesn't love everything we do. Sin cannot enter heaven.... and all human beings are sinful... the only way to have our sin 'removed' from us, is to be forgiven. And, we can't be forgiven if we don't ask for forgiveness. And the only way to ask for forgiveness, and receive it, is through acknowledgement of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. As he said, " I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me"

Idk I think she’s just very confused about Christianity and how serious to take what the Bible says and what preachers say. Divorce has been considered a huge sin in Christianity so to think that divorcing someone... to fake being strait is a holy decision, is once again picking and choosing what to believe in. Bottom line is treat others the way you would wish to be treated, and mind your own business when it’s not your place to judge. If you’re religious you should know well that the only person allowed to pass judgment onto others is god. The only exception in judging others in my opinion is those who are arrested and under trial for crimes.
