You can't tribute Neal without talking about how he single-handedly got artists the rights to own their original art...that is even more integral to his legacy than his work.

That is very true. This was just a brief origin story though. Not the full thing.
Let's not forget Neal was also a fierce and vocal advocate for creators' rights, and successfully lobbied for Jerry Siegel and Joel Shuster in their efforts to receive credit and remuneration for their creation of Superman. If you're a comic-book artist today, you can thank Neal Adams for doing battle inside the industry for the preservation of your rights over your own artwork.
Woke up to the sad news this morning. Along with Jack Kirby, the best super-hero artist of all time. His X-Men and Avengers runs are peerless.
Only met him once, in 2017, and that day will be etched into my memory for a long time. I knew his work long before I ever knew his name. One of a kind and a true giant in this industry. He will be missed.
Adams was one of the first comic book fans to become a comic book artist. Unlike the previous generation, he saw comics as something more than a steady paycheck. He was PROUD to be a comic book artist, and showed us all what the medium was capable of expressing.
I salute you Neal. Be at peace. You gave joy in our hearts. You are a pillar of the comic industry. Your batman and GL&GA runs were beautiful. Thank you!
Good tribute to a master artist...even the young collector in late 1960s and early 1970s I could recognize his work...sad to lose him to comic world.
His passing is such a shock. Every year we lose a few more of our childhood heroes. Fortunately, I was able to meet him at a few conventions over the years, and get him to sign a couple of those iconic books that I bought off those old spinner racks of my youth. I am so glad I was able to briefly meet with him, shake his hand, and tell him how much I looked forward to seeing his artwork on and in comics back in the 1970’s. RIP

Ya it’s crazy when you see someone that could be the last time you ever do. You never really think about that when you talk with someone
Rest in power, Neal. Your art will live in our hearts forever. Thanks for this tribute, Dave.
WOW!!! Just found out about Neal Adams's passing... He was the reason I started reading X-Men books and BatMan. A bucket of WIN!!! He will be missed!!!
Neal Adams will always be my favourite artist. His work on the classic Batman story "The Secret of the Waiting Graves was groundbreaking, beautiful and a masterpiece. It paved the way for the return of the Darknight Detective. Neal Adams will be missed but never forgotten and never replaced.
Great tribute, Neal Adams was a legend!
Beautiful tribute, Dave. Mr. Adams certainly left his mark on the world. RIP sir.
Don't forget Adams had to back door his way to doing Batman interior artwork through Brave and the Bold 79 - 86 and 93 before he was allowed to do work on Detective or Batman comics. Lucky thing because Bob Haney was doing adventure stories as opposed to camp. This gave Adams many chances to experiment and evolve his look for Batman as well...
I had the wonderful opportunity to see him many times at the many cons I’ve attended. Big fan of his art.
Great tribute to a legend. Good on you Dave 👏
LOVED your BATMAN and Sword and Sorcery work but I thank you for fighting for the right for artists to get their work back as well as standing up for Siegel and Shuster! REST WELL and THANK YOU!
Used to see him at the Motor City con, all the time. Yet I never once went to him for an autograph. I don't know why I never did. My loss, but a greater loss to the comic community, with his passing.
I can’t believe how sudden it was. I truly love his art.
Appreciate you taking the time to do the tribute to Neal. Kudos to you!
A very informative and respectful tribute. Neal's art was very realistic looking but also had an edginess.

He was a master at knowing what to draw realistically, and what to exaggerate for maximum excitement. For example, a man running with proper form looks pretty boring; Adams drawings of Batman running toward the viewer were anatomically impossible, but perfect.
Very Nice tribute to a Great Comic Book Artist. He will be missed. 🙏
Great tribute. He is my all time favorite comic book artist.
Thank you for doing this. I didn't realize that this hyper realistic artist was pushed to do the funny strips like Archie at the start and then denied Batman to do Bob Hope and Jerry Lewis. Those editors at DC...great eye for talent...not.

Well eventually he got do do what he always wanted. Batman
Nice tribute. I too had the pleasure of meeting him, and getting a pic with him. He even did a quick sketch of Batman and signed it to me... and no... He didn't charge me for it! We even chatted about the Muhammed Ali comic. Rest in Peace to one of the all time greats.
Great tribute bro! Neal Adams will definitely be missed!
Without a doubt... one of the greats, having ushered in realism to the world of comics. A very nice retrospective.
I’m just sick hearing of Neal. I grew up loving his work as a child and young adult. Love this man. What a legend. God Bless his soul. Love you Neal.
really nice tribute. what an impactful career! he definitely left his permanent mark on comics.
😢 I still can't beleive this! Neal Adams was the best! R.I.P. Wonderful triibute!
Good tribute of Neal Adams. RIP-Mr Adams.
Green lantern 76 to 89 still holds up today....love his Ms Mystic....
My all-time favorite comic artist after discovering Neal’s breathtaking X-men #56 as a 10 year old. Neal broke boundaries and the days of traditional 9-panel comic pages were gone. Neal brought power and grace and motion to comics like no other. RIP Neal!!
Amazing tribute to a legend in the field.
This was a really nice video, Dave, thanks for taking the time to make it.
Great Neal Adams! Very sad. Huge legacy he leaves for mankind. Far beyond the drawing boards, Neal Adams was also a scientist who brilliantly advocated the Expanding Earth Theory, with its didactic animations. There are several videos on KZread. Now he has ample ability to study the expansion of stars, galaxies, universe and spirit. Thank you very much Neal. RIP
Great synopsis of Neil Adams' life work. I remember Neil Adams' work from 1976-1978. My classmate and I admired his Batman work and we'd try to collect it. The thing was, even back then, it was so expensive. I was only able to read his reprints. He was a pioneer in comics.
Well done and good on you for making a video about Neal and his art. Truly a revolutionary artist, he will be missed.
HI DAVE ......VERY SAD TO HEAR ABOUT NEAL ADAMS PASSING AWAY HE WAS ONE OF THE BEST ARTISTS THE COMIC INDUSTRY EVER HAD,I GREW UP IN THE 1970S AND NEAL ADAMS ART STOOD OUT FROM THE REST,HIS COMICS JUST JUMPED OFF THE COMIC RACKS AND HIT YOU IN THE FAC.E HIS QUIRKY PANELS WHERE SO REFRESHING IN MY MIND IS BEST RUN WAS HIS XMEN AND BATMAN. Thank you for sharing. How you put it all together it really touched my heart. Thank you again For sharing.
R.I.P. Neil Adams. Truly one of the greatest in his chosen field.
Very nice tribute. Thank you for doing this.
Like many others, I also got to meet him. What a friendly fellow he was. I had a long conversation with him. I didn't want to bother him but he was the one who kept the conversation going. It just goes to show how down to earth Neil was. I just found out about his passing. He was definitely one of the legends who played his role in transforming the comic book industry.
Lovely tribute. Met Neal couple times at London Super Comic Con in 2014/2015. Nice guy , happy to sign my comics
RIP Neal Adams....you will be missed
*_R.I.P. Neal, you were my favorite._*
Great tribute video. Thanks. If it weren't for artists like Neal Adams, Jack Kirby and Simon Bisley, i wouldn't be a collector.

Glad to have met Neal Adams three times and get an autograph. First book I got by him was Avengers 92 # 93 my faves when they came out. Loved his sense of humour when I got his panels such a great artist and man and who fought for creators rights.
Great tribute- Thanks for sharing highlights from his career. 🙏
I had no idea that Neal had passed away. Sad news, like you he was one of my all-time top artists. RIP Neal.
Neal Adams version for batman is the one we all know. He defined that classic look for batman for the 70s and 80s. Rest in peace 🙏🙏

RIP Neal, may you return to the center of your growing earth to find your peace.
A perfect tribute man I didn't know this till a few minutes ago and I was watching a video about his work earlier it's such a shock
Nice work, Dave. Thanks.
Thank you for the Neal Adam's tribute. Check out his sci-fi magazines, deadly hands of kung fu, and sleeper romance novel covers. I had the privilege to work for Mr. Adam's at a couple of cons, super nice guy both he & Marilynn. RIP Master class, I am saddened I will not see you this year.
Well said. Very good video. RIP Mr. Adams.
Fantastic. Thanks Dave.
Thanks for posting, David. RIP and Godspeed
Lovely to hear this talented artist respected in this way. Neal Adams' defending of Siegel & Schuster & other artists as chairman of a Comic Artists/Cartoonists committee is crucial to summerising his legacy. Absolutely crucial. Even a brief story of his influence needs to, OUGHT to mention this, even if only briefly. Also, this tends to lean on the DC output & neglect some of his Marvel suff eg. the Avengers/Kree/Skrull, Killraven, his recent FF stuff & his B/W line (Conan & "Deadly Hands of Kung Fu" stuff!). He even found time for political cartoons/satire.
Well done. Great content. Respect
Thx Dave for uploading this
Thanks this was beautiful 🙏
Thank you Dave for the fine tribute. Well done my friend
Great video man, Jeff’s kiss 💋. I unfortunately didn’t know just what an impact he was in the industry until watch Fatman Beyond just now with Kevin Smith and Marc Bernardin. Which led me to your video and glad I did. 🤟
RIP Neal Adams.
sigh......we lose another GIANT....rest in peace Mr. Adams

Awww man rip Neal Adams.
great video David
Sigh. Frazetta, Wood, Wrightson now Adams. All my favorite artists are gone, with the exception of Steranko. When you live long enough this inevitably starts to affect you. Friends, family and others fall to the wayside of life.

Seen him 3 years ago at a con but missed the chance to tell him that his art in Green Lantern was amazing...
Condolences out to the family for their loss and Ours
Beautiful tribute
Your tribute is very well done
Great tribute - thanks.
First the news about George Perez and now this. We’re steadily losing all the great talent I grew up with Arrrgh! RIP Neil.
I rather enjoyed this video. Thoughtful and well done.

Nice tribute.I met him a few years ago at the ComicCon in the UK.I had an original page of his that he signed.Like you I gushed about what an amazing artist he was and how much he'd contributed to modern culture. He seemed very modest about it all which I found amazing.I suppose he'd heard it all a thousand times.

This is really cool, R.I.P. Sir.
Thank you Neal Adams for making Batman one of the best superheros. RIP
Dave,it's truly sad cause Neal Adams was a legend and he did one of my favorite covers Green Lantern#76 which I don't think I will ever own cause it goes for $1,000's in high grade. Neal Adams once said they where gonna stop publishing DC comics if they did one more issue like the drug issue in Green Lantern#85 back in the 70's. I guess no really knows when there time is up,rip Neal Adams.
Great tribute man. RIP to Mr. Adams.
Beautiful!!
Great tribute video or a legend in the industry.
