It's not surprising really as he was straight descendant of Ōtsutsuki, has much powerful chakra etc. Normal people like Madara have so much trouble awakening Rinnegan because they're so much weaker and had so little chakra. To the point where Madara had to cheat by fusing with Hashirama cells to awaken Rinnegan lol. That's the main reason why Hagoromo awakened it so easily compare to other characters in manga.

To me, I thought Indra (one of Hagoromo son) would be revived and became a final villain instead of reanimated Madara and that would make Madara would finally worked together with reanimated Hashirama again with the rest of Hokage to defeat Indra & Kaguya

So hagoromo is the true source of the reason why people can only awaken the Sharingan through negative trauma. Sarada seems to be the only Uchiha to awaken her Sharingan from positive emotions. Literally everyone else awoke their Sharingan at the expense of someone's death or compromised safety.

But Hagoromo loved Hamura and didn't kill him for power. He just had to fight him because Kaguya tried to kill Hagoromo using Hamura. Still he played defensive and only went lethal because he knew he had Gamammaru's seal. Despite knowing that Hamura would live, he still felt so sad that he awakened his mangekyo sharingan and rinnegan both at once. None of it was for power. Hagoromo never wanted any power.

Also, he kept dodging until he realised he needed to be lethal. Hagoromo is one of the flawless ones in Naruto, like Itachi, minato, jiraiya, Naruto and hashirama. Hagoromo didn't kill for power.
