“Twelve Thirty” was one of John’s most beautiful creations. Hauntingly bittersweet. He was a brilliant songwriter. Too bad years of hard drugs stole his humanity. His music will live on.

I remember watching The Mamas & The Papas on the Ed Sullivan Show when I was a very little girl. My Mum and Dad liked their music but I remember my Dad saying that didn't like Joh Phillips very much. When I asked him why he said that "I don't trust a man who wears a winter hat inside." Strange what sticks in your mind years and years later.

Mama Cass and Denny where the two best singers that really helped established the band. Denny sings much of the song , California Dreaming. Now let me tell you my encounter with John Phillips! When he was sick and out of Desert Hospital, I was working for a home health agency in which he was a patient of ours. I was the Receptionist! The phone rang, I answered, a voice comes on the phone and says Candy this is John Phillips! Do you know who I am? I said yes and starting singing Monday, Monday! He was laughing! I have a very young sounding voice so probably didn’t think I knew who he was! He called several times after that and was always very nice calling me by my name! I was very sad upon hearing he had passed !!

@@henaretahata3799 Aren't capital letters great? Which part of my comment is incorrect? Denny sang lead on the first 4 US charting singles; California Dreaming, Monday, Monday, I Saw Her Again, Look Through My Window. Cass obviously sang lead on many songs too, but she was not the exclusive lead singer. Denny sang lead on just as many, and he sang the most successful singles.

I just found one of his daughter's KZread channel's. Chynna Phillips Baldwin. She tells some stories about her father. There's one where she's talking with her brother Jeff and talks about Cass. He also tells a story about John and Elvis riding motorcycles together. There were some pretty interesting stories on that particular video. Anyway, thanks for sharing this with us. Congratulations on being credited for the movie !! That's awesome...!! I haven't seen it yet, but I can't wait to watch this movie. You're a great researcher !!
