So we found this footage from 2013 on an old drive and decided to finish it. Younger and thinner, but it's still me and the G&T is still the best hot weather drink ever devised.

It is far from simple, yes you add just a couple of compounds together, but the compounds themselves are complex in nature. It reminds me of the favourite dish of Ferran Adrià, which is pan con tomate, but then how do you make a good olive oil or bread, where does the flower come from, etc., so once again simple in nature, simple in compounds, but far from simple. The same goes for gin (it easily could contain 40 aromatics) and tonic.

I bonsai'd a small lime tree for a lady friend that only has the occasional drink in summer. Every ten days a full size lime would be ready during the hot season. The "bouquet" that a freshly picked lime added to the drink was just amazing. Most fruit lose this trait within two days of being picked. Even added a small Bay window over the kitchen sink to catch the sun in beautiful White Rock, BC, Canada.

Gin & Tonic season is upon us. I can't wait to sip on one of these outside on a patio (if Ontario ever gets to that point again). It's much more likely that I'll be enjoying them at home. After much experimentation, I think I've found the perfect G&T recipe. Put two ounces of gin with the juice of half a lime in a cocktail shaker, fill it with ice, shake for 20 seconds or so, strain into a glass that's also filled with ice, top it off with a bottle of Fever Tree elderflower tonic.

The "bouquet" that a freshly picked lime added to the drink was just amazing. Most fruit lose this trait within two days of being picked. Even added a small Bay window over the kitchen sink to catch the sun in beautiful White Rock, BC, Canada.
This video is great. I do miss this week's QQ episode. Please keep up the good work. Also please keep making QQ episodes. They are really enjoyable.
I loved it! Thank you, Alton!
This is the perfect video to pop up on my feed after making a gin and tonic, thanks Alton!
Really enjoyed this video, thanks!
I love herbal and food history. Thanks, Alton!
Just found your channel . I'm a big fan of Gin & Tonics. History and alcohol , a perfect blend . 👍
Love it, brilliant presentation
Love this! I’d love to see more videos about basic cocktails & their history!
Always entertaining and educational.
I grew up watching your shows and I will be buying the DVD series if I can help it later this year because you provide such lovely edutainment.
always entertaining and informative.
My Favorite and now I'll try to make my own Tonic. Thanks AB
This is the grownup version of what I watched as a kid! love it!
Thanks for a classic Alton 'short!'
I love the way he gives history lessons that you want to hear. Mario Batali does the same thing . My 2 favorite chefs
I always feel a little smarter whenever I watch an Alton Brown video. Bless you sir.
I so so so agree, the best Summer drink invented... my mouth is watering...thanks for sharing.
G&Ts are amazing! My go-to for sure. I need to check out that concentrate, but I do love Fever Tree.

Looking at the bottle, I'm pretty sure that's "Jack Rudy Classic Tonic Syrup". You can find it on Amazon or at Kroger.

@@robspiess It is LOL. I just googled for it and went back to the video to compare, and landed at 04:14. You can see the bottle clearly. What are the chances of landing at the exact spot on the video?!?!

If you have never suffered from any of the aforesaid ailments, you owe it all to gin & tonic. Wonderful stuff.
When I was a youngin my brother decided to learn me on the joys of gin and tonic. Some wonderful memories were made !
Thanks for posting this! I spend most of my days drinking neat bourbon. But G&T is my very favorite cocktail. I love the challenge of making more complicated drinks, but none of them satisfy me as much as a bit of gin, a bit of tonic, and a bit of lime on ice.
Love me a good G&T, and you've given me some great ideas to try, thanks!
5 years sober. Clicked just to hit the like button, just because it’s Alton.
Great video and very informative!
This was excellent! Please do more drink history and recipes. I would love to see you do some Tiki style classics in this format.
I can't drink but I could listen to talk about all day fascinating food science

Same here. I’ll make mock tail based on the (close) flavor profiles.
Now I know how to make Mrs. Slocombe’s Gin and Tonic! And wait until they call, this video should do it. Always happy to see ya, AB!
He had the best cooking show on TV (Good Eats). Full of good recipes, tips and s great sense of humour. Miss the shows.
Had my first gin and tonic today. Thank you Alton. Hendricks is darn good and we loved the tonic concentrate.. Always thought I hated gin. Now I know my parents just bought crappy cheap booze.
This is why I like you. I find out I’m making one of my favorite foods or drinks wrong and you make it better. On my way to get some Tonic concentrate now.
I will be enjoying these all sumer long!!!
I love your cocktail videos :)
Native Charlestonian here. I've never heard of this quinine concentrate before. I'm definitely going to rethink my GNT now. My preference for gin is Bombay. I think this is going to be delicious! Thanks!
My favourite drink !! Well done 👍
Thanks for the recommendation on the tonic mix and gin. It has changed many of my friends' opinions on gin and tonic.
First class description of an intriguing “fever trees” Kipling “Just So Stories”
Gin and tonic is my favorite cocktail, because everybody knows how to make it and as long as you use quality ingredients, it’s impossible to mess up.
I couldn't agree more! The ultimate summer drink!
The AB of my youth. Loved it.
Educational and informative as always. Alton's culinary curricul, is how I got plenty of 'friends' in college. 😁
I love this so much
G & T or any classic gin drink really, is my favorite refreshing drink on a warm day. My name sake liquor and happy to say I've toured a gin distillery in The Netherlands. Excellent example of top notch ingredients making the drink ever so better. Current favs: Aviation, St George, and Sipsmith gins and Q tonics. Always w/ a lime.
Was drinking a Roku Gin + tonic and came across this in my subs, it’s a gin and tonic night for sure! Cheers! 🍻

Roku's an amazing gin, isn't? What tonic do you use with it? I haven't found one that really "pops" with it yet.
That looks like one of those Wisconsin all weather skeeters. The ones with antifreeze in their veins that only disappear during the coldest days of the winter.

commonly known as the State Bird of Wisconsin.......and they never disappear , they just hangout in the Sauna when it's too cold
A man of class and good taste, I see! As a fellow Southerner, I will also swear by the medicinal properties of a good gin and tonic with lime. My da's favorite was always Tanqueray, but I'm partial to Bombay Sapphire myself.
The feeling when you and Alton share a favorite gin.
