I got pneumonia and thought I was dying almost 8 years ago. I decided I wanted to stick around for my grandson. I quit cold turkey. I smoked for 40 years and my grandson is now 8.5 years old. I now have a granddaughter too. I want to see them graduate H.S. You can do it Adam. 🚭

One of the most underrated vocalists ever. His vocal performances in God Only Knows, Good Vibrations and I Can Hear Music are some of my personal favorites ever - such a soulful and plaintive sound!

One my favorite bands is the Beach Boys. The songwriting, harmony and musicianship was top notch. Rip Carl. 🤙🏾

He really developed and went thru a heavy, funk phase and took over The Beach Boys in the 70’s for a while. It’s an interesting chunk of albums. Carl and the Passions, Holland etc…

Beautiful voice. Even better than God Only Knows is I Can Hear Music. Gives me chills.

Carl was the epitome of a wonderful human being. He always had an aura around him that was very peaceful. He wasn’t a show-off with a huge ego. He was “just” a very talented guy. “God only Knows” was an opportunity to let his inner-light shine for all to hear. No other beach boy could have sung that song. Absolutely, one of the most heartwarming melodic songs of all time. He is dearly missed. RIP, Carl.

This is so sad...damn those cigarettes. I have seen far too many relatives and friends pass away from lung cancer, emphysema, and other smoking related illnesses. Carl had so many good years ahead of him with family and The Beach Boys. Please put down the cigarettes, cigars, and pipes, folks. R.I.P Carl Wilson.

“God only knows“ is my favorite beach boys song as well. My husband & I once went to a Broadway play that featured a lot of the beach boys music. (Unfortunately, I cannot think of the name of it right now). 🤔Brian Wilson was in the audience on the end of the aisle just 2 rows ahead of me.😮

I believe he also had some cancer issues to his brain, I could be mistaken. His health never effected his singing ability. The voice of an angel was silenced but it lives on and always will. R.I.P.

Wilson became ill at his vacation home in Hawaii in early 1997. He was diagnosed with lung cancer, and was started on chemotherapy. He had been smoking cigarettes since his early teens.[9] Despite his illness and treatments, he continued to play and sing with the Beach Boys throughout their entire summer tour till its completion in the autumn of 1997. Wilson died of lung cancer in Los Angeles, surrounded by his family, on February 6, 1998. His death occurred just two months after the death of his mother, Audree Wilson. He was interred at Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles. - from Wikipedia

All his vocalizations were utterly fantastic but his lead vocal on I can hear music was exceptionally beautiful. 🎵

God only knows is a musical masterpiece, Paul McCartney says it gives him goose bumps everytime he hears it.

Yes. It’s our fave and the song we call “ THEE OERFECT SONG”.

Every Picture of older Carl looks like he’s staring into your soul. My mom had his solo album when I was little on vinyl. There’s an amazing song called Heaven on there. It’ll smooth u right out if you’re stressed.

I kicked off my summer today by listening to the Beach Boys while heading to the ocean. One of my favorite bands ❤

He was a profound talent to be reckoned with God bless him for the good music. I thought good vibrations was one of their top accomplishments so long ago it was released and it was like nothing else ever done.❤

What a terrific talent in human being. He left us far too soon.

I'm just sad. Thank you. I love the Beach Boys.

My father started smoking cigarettes in his teens as well and died of a massive heart attack at 58. So many incredible people lost so young due to smoking. Carl Wilson was my favorite Beach Boy. 💔

Shit, my mum died from lung cancer from smoking at 54, 7 yrs prior to Carl. Carl had the voice of an angel ❤

God Only Knows is an amazing song, the vocals and chorus. Carl was a perfectionist too. Highly produced albums.

A fantastic singer, Carl Wilson sang with incredible soul on the song Feel Flows, listen to that.

He was the anchor that kept the band intact amid all the conflicts.

I have sat next to Carl's grave. If you don't know his tombstone says "Voice of an Angel". He was the greatest vocalist. Carl left his soul in his music for us. I 💜 miss Carl.

I met him backstage in Chicago way back in the late 70's I believe it was. Really a nice guy. A friend and I talked with him for about an hour. gone way too soon. R.I.P. Carl, your music will live on forever.

Always loved Carl.

Ever wonder why the Beach Boys albums sounded so different from their live performances? It's because most of the instrumentals on the albums were performed by the Wrecking Crew.

To me he always was the BB. At my first BB concert he was the only musician to sit and talk to us even though we were a bit younger than him. Our story mirrored his as teens with guitars hoping to follow his lead. I always appreciated his kindness. Of course it helped that we had the two hottest sisters when we walked over to their hotel and stayed a couple of hours.

He sure did have a beautiful voice

Although Carl Wilson didn't possess the otherworldly falsetto voice of Brian's, but Carl's was grittier, more well rounded for the music Brian had run away from. His Songs "Sloop John B , I can hear music, and Do it again to name a few, solidified his candidacy into the R&R Hall of Fame, although his best known vocal was the astonishingly beautiful Brain composition"God Only Knows " off of Pet Sounds. RIP Carl Wilson.

Carl sang a lot more than just a few songs... HE WAS THE BEACH BOYS!! He was the Beach Boys sound. He and Brian were the foundation of that group. Carl Wilson was one of the world's most underrated musicians of all time.

And the original drummer of the of the Beach Boys what was involved with Charles Manson for a short time and he also passed away from alcohol and drug abuse I believe. But it was awful strange to actually see that he was involved with Charles Manson who had the family and had Tate killed
