I was 8 years old in 1959 when this song came out. My sister was 15-16. She had this song (Dodie Stevens version) and hundreds of other 45s and 78s. Our house reverberated with early Rock ‘n Roll!!

@@Ronsolo767 Yes, you're right. Because the past was all in black and white just like TV. We didn't get color until the end of the 1960s. The phenomenon of turning real life technicolor was made into a documentary movie called "Pleasantville" where a small town in mid-continent America struggled with their grayscale doors suddenly turning blue and the social and economic changes that came with it. Women's lipstick turning bright red was particularly shocking to some of the older, more reserved folks. It was almost as revolutionary as the era real life turned from sepia and cyanotype to grayscale. It's documented more slowly over time within photographs.

You have to remember this was the 50s or maybe early 60s and they didn’t think about age and the same way that we do now also it was played for a joke on Michelle he happen to be available and he was a funny guy so they had him do the part. I doubt anybody watching was like oh my gosh how dare he be with that girl.

Yeah, I thought it got into the creepy zone, too. Apparently it's because of casting, but the guy is acts older than he really was. And it wasn't just the times: I was born in the 1940s, and I felt the same. It would be too heavy to point out that Lolita was published in 1955, because it's a cute number all the same. But the ages are discrepant.

Slight variations on a theme by Geraldine "Dodie" Stevens. True to form, the various members of the Welk team rise to any occasion and get the job done. As of this writing (mid-2023), the Lennon Sisters are still at it with a vengeance. Diane and Peggy have retired. But Kathy and Janet have kept the group going with their sister Mimi. And their harmonies are still impeccable.

All these years I didnt know she had been a singer before she was the daughter of H. Garth in The Virginian TV series. I was kinda past the teeny bopper age and by 59 I was in the Navy. I'd hear the song in the barracks on the radio but never heard any names, then saw her as Betsy Garth on TV after I got out. Did she ever do anything better than TSWPS. Something along the lines of "purple people eater" LOLOLOLOL

can you say sugar daddy, and depending upon her age, also possibly cradle snatcher, and although this song is still a great tune to tap your feet to, it only comes alive, and becomes a brilliant song, when all you talented young ladies show how just how good you are at dancing to this song, but then you won`t find me making a youtube video about my dancing ability, because i`m something whose was born with several left feet, but while i curse myself over my very apparent lack of ability when i move my body, i can at least sit here and watch others who unlike me, can not only dance, but can also dance so well, that i feel tired just by watching you.
