I would rather have locations, like avenger con, a pyramid/stevens apartment, a small part of the town from Wanda vision like a road with a few houses because these would be great for stopmotions if they do it right.

This is a problem I’ve had for a while and I’m glad you’re talking about it. Marvel is literally the most popular thing in the world and it has potential to be the most popular Lego theme. I also wish we’d get sets based on older mcu movies, Star Wars gets tons of sets from decades ago but marvel has like a 6 month window

Hey great video man! I think this year seems lack luster in comparison to last year as well. We didn't even get any Avengers or Spider-Man comic sets this year... No acknowledgement for of the 10 year anniversary... We still have that $500 set potentially. As for the Disney Plus and No Way Home sets. Not even Hasbro has spoiler stuff or second wave of TV show stuff launching until January 2023. So I won't worry too much until then if LEGO doesn't do anything. HOWEVER. That doesn't excuse a lack of sets for the first few shows. If you look at what happened with the Mandalorian, we got a really mediocre set when the show launched and then as it continued they fixed that and gave us SOOO much. No clue why Marvel isn't getting the same treatment...

I very much agree with what you’ve said in the video. I’ve recently gotten much more into the MCU, and it’s annoying to see all the missed potential when it comes to LEGO sets. While yes, “kids are lego’s biggest demographic” as you said, the MCU is marketed towards teens and adults. I do still think LEGO can release play sets for MCU movies, but they really need to hit a happy medium. The demand is very high for more accurate and better quality MCU sets, and besides a handful of the infinity saga sets, there aren’t many. Plus, something they don’t seem to understand, is that you can still add play features into a set and make it look good and fleshed out at the same time. Smaller and better quality MCU Sets like the dioramas or something in that vein would be absolutely perfect, and I just feel a sort of magic thinking about them. I think they’d do great, and I really think that if we keep voicing our opinions loudly but respectfully like you’ve done, we can create more change for the better. Plus, more kid focused play sets can still be made in marvel sub themes like Spider-Man. Great video Tommy! Amazing as always.

Exactly, and while kids might be Lego's target demographic, the people who have the most money to spend on lego are adults

I am so happy someone is finally talking about this, its a big problem. Marvel studios is at a stage where they are creating more and more disney+ shows meaning people are more likely to want the set upon release rather than multiple months later - as they will already have moved on to another show. For example, the falcon and the winter soldier and Loki were very good shows i enjoyed a lot, despite this, i feel it could be too late for Lego to produce sets on them now. I honestly think lego should just produce 1 set per show when the series starts/ends. (btw i dont think the time thing is true for every show, for example i would love WandaVision sets).

DC Lego Fans: "First time?" Yeah, Lego Marvel has been pretty meh this year (Sanctum aside), but at least there *are* sets coming out this year, and Marvel is doing some good stuff (Marvel CMF, Buildable "Icons", and Marvel Modulars) compared to DC's nothing this year.

i think really the biggest thing for me is more marvel modulars. i got the bugle, i’m gonna get the sanctum, and i’d really like to expand that. i’m obviously lining up all my modulars, and i think it would be awesome if i could have some more theme specific sets rather than generic buildings. i’d also like more sets like the benetar but i want the main focus to be on modulars. (i want other themes to have modulars too, like maybe a wayne tower, or a daily planet for dc)

Fr. Harry Potter does it phenomenally. Even though I don’t get many of the sets, it’s obviously LEGO’s current best theme. DC could definitely use some. I’d even be up for a few more Star Wars buildings- maybe a Jedi Temple, Yavin temple and a remake of Palpatine’s office, but with a more complete building.

we need more location based sets 100% since they are my favourite type of marvel sets since they (sometimes) provide quality builds and a nice range of figures

Mandolorian did a lot better than most of the marvel shows though. They are also based off more profitable characters like boba fett and obiwan that people would buy because of the character, not the show. Hawkeye will not sell anywhere near as much toys as boba fett would. The Bad Batch is the only show without a very well known character behind it, and that’s a clone wars spin off. Most Star Wars fans would eat any clone wars content up. Marvel simply doesn’t have big enough names behind its shows to sell tons and tons of merchandise unlike Star Wars with The mandolorian, boba fett, obi wan, and the clone wars.

You say we’ve only got 5 marvel sets this year not including the mechs but you forgot about the 4 spidey and his amazing friends sets, the iron man armoury and the gargantos showdown.

For me the biggest problem is that, aside from Spider-Man, it feels like every single Marvel set is based on the MCU. The theme is Lego MARVEL not Lego MCU, so why not make more comic book sets? I feel like the new Sanctum set that came out would’ve been amazing as a comic based set, like the Daily Bugle, but the fact it was another MCU set was just a little disappointing to me personally

That’s my problem with Lego Marvel, they rely heavily on the MCU and treat the legacy of the comics like they don’t exist or matter. I want to see more comic based sets on locations like Asgard, the Baxter building, the X mansion, or even the Avengers mansion with comic accurate minifigures.

@@Luis-yh9xd the sanctum being MCU based definitely does not rule out the possibility of comic based modular sets. A mix of both would actually be really cool imo, they can do a comic Baxter building, comic X mansion along side an MCU Avengers tower etc

Lexcorp, Star Labs, the Waverider, The Fortress of Solitude, The house of mystery, The Hall of Justice, The Watchtower, Bele Reve (Seriously why not?! If you can't say Suicide Squad, then go with Task Force X! With so many characters you could even do a cmf of different members!) There are so many options they should do

When I watched The Batman I loved it so much I went home and bought every set based off of the movie. Spider-Man No Way Home was the most hyped movie of the year, why hasn't Lego made any sets for it? They would sell incredibly well

I miss the 2013-2018 era of lego marvel sets. Those were amazingly fun.

I think what is holding LEGO back with almost all of their themes is that they can't individually sell licensed figures. The closest we get are the magazines, like the recent Mandalore Maul.

I think lego should make a moon knight diorama in the bathroom at the end of episode 1. With him Standing over the jackal thing in the destroyed bathroom, not only would it be dope AF but it would also give us a moon knight minifig and a cool looking destroyed bathroom for display.

Man it sure would be nice if we could get more than three X-Men and any of the Fantastic Four… The fact they’ve never made the FF is still baffling and appalling.

Fun thing about NWH, Lego technically can’t make them because one of the three Spider-Mem were made into a Comicon Exclusive minifig. And because of that Lego can’t make an Amazing Spider-Man minifig otherwise it isn’t exclusive anymore which I think is really dumb.

Actually they could still make Amazing Spider-Man it just can’t be the exact same design. Shazam was a comic con figure and Lego remade him and put him in a set.

My biggest LEGO Marvel problem was in the Infinity War six sets, you got one of the Infinity Stones, then the Reality Stone set came with Thanos and the Gauntlet that could attach the stones. Then the final Endgame battle set came out, and it came with all six stones, the Gauntlet and Thanos.

How did we get here? I remember the waves for guardians of the galaxy 1 and 2, age of ultron, civil war and infinity war being really good. They had a bunch of sets each, all of which were movie accurate, had great play and display value and awesome minifigures. In the last few years we had no sets like the avengers tower, the airport battle, the original milano or the first sanctum. Nowadays you get like one or two good figures in an overpriced set that doesn't resemble anything from the movie.

For character predominantly set in massive cities there needs to be way more locations builds in both marvel and dc sets. How have we only ever gotten Wayne manor once or only two tiny avengers towers? More location builds in general to build up a superheroes city would be amazing

I would love to have more locations. Some ideas I have are Avengers/Stark Tower, Malibu Mansion, the WandaVision house, Kates apartment, Clints farm house, a better Avengers Compound.

The mech issue is a really big problem. I wish Lego would use time to create sets based on the MCU more rather than produce another mech or Spider Man mobile. The Doctor Strange 2 movie for example only got one set technically if you don't count the Sanctum and that movie had all types of crazy monsters and ideas to make some great sets. Same with NWH. Could've had a big Statue of Liberty similar to the Lego Movie 2 one. Or use branch out the infinity saga more and do so much more with it like updating older sets from the first phases or make ones that haven't been made so they didn't miss out making them when the movies for it came out. Hopefully they do resolve this issue in the future.

We need all of this. Disney + sets especially, there’s so many important characters they missed out on i.e John walker, Agatha, Hawkeye, Zemo, Kate, Kang, and many more now with the new shoes, plus sets for locations like exactly what was bought up. All the sets have been absolutely dreadful.

for the shows, they should do a wave of sets, kinda like the cmf but actually including more minifigures and a location. for each show there could be one, and depending on how big the show was would determine the size, minifig count and price

I think they should make minifigure packs based on the shows. Like fr example one could have Moon knight with a second head for Steven/Mark, Layla in her biker outfit, and Arthur Harrow with his red suit on. the builds could be a Jackel and Layla's bike. This would be great and I think these would sell out quickly.

I definitely agree at least 1 diorama for each Disney+ show would be great. I can definitely see them doing the Wanda vision living room maybe make it the Halloween episode to give people those costumes. Kate bishops apartment with Kate, Clint, and lucky the dog. Maybe even finally give us the ronin suit also as in the background. Loki has a few options like a tva office, the loki hideout with all the alts, the one who remains office. Falcon and winter soilder could have the fight between the flag smashers and USAgent and Lemar, since we already got bucky and falcon America from the show. What If could honestly become it's own subbrand with all the options between the show and the comics of the same name. I'd love to get more comic inspired minis. Moon knight could do his apartment, or the God trial, or some Egyptians tomb style one.

I buy Lego more for the build then the mini figs. I would love to see more really nice Display sets

If they keep doing the “for the figures“ thing, they don’t really have to release a ms. Marvel set because she is going to appear in “The Marvels” movie.

Be careful. Hasbro realized their demographic for marvel legends and gi joe were adults and the results of that was a price hike. Rather than trying to keep costs down so that parents would be willing to purchase figures for their children they're starting to go with collector prices for collector items. Namely things like the haslab crowd funded items and all the exclusives they're pitching out.

Finally someone’s talking about this I would like to have some good locations, like Steven‘s apartment, Avenger con, The Skating rink from Hawkeye, The train from Loki. These are just recommendations there’s so many good ideas out there and all we get is Mini figures. The mini figures are nice but I would like A whole set even if it had less many figures.

I think having a mixture between categories would benefit Lego Marvel greatly. Heck, they've been doing more detailed sets with Harry Potter, so why not do the same with Marvel? If Marvel announced a detailed Helicarrier based off Avengers Assemble, the Winter Soldier and Age of Ultron would have everyone scrambling to save up their money for it, or a detailed version of the Avengers Tower with an option to change it to the Stark Tower before the events of Age of Ultron. You can still have your mechs, your minifigure centric moments, but if you ask me, a lego set is more memorable if the build itself is worth it, like the new big Bowser that'll be coming out, or Diagon Alley, Mini Hogwarts Castle, Daily Bugle, etc.

Marvel has released like 10+ sets this year (including Spiderman sets) DC has released a single 4+ set, talk about DC an actual theme with problems not marvel.

I think the future for lego is what you’re talking about. I foresee a Lego Avengers tower, and even way down the line, an X-Mansion based on the animated series that’s being revived. Hopefully someday we get a set with all four of the Fantastics as well, a Baxter building could be cool but I’m not sure how feasible it is compared to the other two. A scale size Wayne Manor/Batcave or an Arkham Asylum would be awesome.

One thing I find interesting about this video is that Eternals never came up. It’s weird to me that that movie got so many sets (4 I think?) when Shang Chi got 2, black Widow got 1, NWH got 1, Dr strange is only getting 1, and Thor got 2. I wonder if there’s a mandate from Disney/marvel to focus on new properties they have less confidence in - see also the two what if sets.

It’s really sad that while Star Wars gets sets for Disney+ shows, the only thing we really get are the cmfs (which are retired) and what if. I would love for an wandavision house set, and a Ms Marvel set, especially since Ms marvel has barely been included or had sets based on them

omg, thanks Tommy for bringing this up! Marvel is really been inconsistent with their sets and it's made their theme overall pretty sucky. Disney Plus shows do deserve to be converted into Lego sets and because Lego is making the move to not to (at this rate), it makes the theme go downhill. The CMF Series was awesome last year and I really hope LEGO can produce one again this year...(prob not) also if you're confused about why the heck LEGO made What If sets it's because the show looked "kid friendly". LEGO, you have a stronger TFOL and AFOL market group so you have to think about us as well!

For the Disney+ shows,Lego is gonna do another cmf with those characters like kate bishop,echo,moon knight,mr knight, and the scarlet scarab,ms marvel, she hulk,frogman,etc

I really wish they would do Disney plus show sets for marvel but I do somewhat understand why they haven’t done much so far. With four shows and four movies each year, that’s a lot of stuff for LEGO to try and cover and I can see why they’ve decided to focus on the movies instead of the shows. Still I think it would be great even just to get minifigures from the shows in CMF or the mechs they’ve been doing each year.

Look, most Marvel locations look identical to each other. Once you've done your Avengers Tower and Sanctum, there's not a lot more iconic stuff left. The dioramas are probably a better idea

I agree with everything you said though What if I personally think needs the most sets, it is canon even if it doesn’t necessarily cross over its still important with certain implications and What if is mainly for kids so thats where that focus is

Some location set ideas: D2C avenger tower, Baxter building, X mansion. All of these would be incredible. Especially if it’s in the same vain as the Daily Bugle.

I think LEGO should definitely design at least one good location/scene from the shows. A WandaVision house would be amazing, something like Bro Thor’s New Asgard. For Falcon and the Winter Soldier they should do a bus attack scene, give us a couple Flag Smashers, Carli Sam and Bucky. Loki could do a TVA office or maybe the Stranded Loki’s hideout. We could get President Loki, and a few of the other variants, plus Mobius. Hawkeye could be Times Square, or possibly the Tracksuit Mafia fight scene. These are just some of the many different diorama style sets we could get, or even regular sets, as long as they aren’t dumbed down for kids

I’ve been upset with lego for awhile as for not making NWH sets, other companies have started making merch, action figures, and toys off of the movie, and funko even announced pops, but lego has yet to do any sets about the movie and I’ve been so upset cause lego nwh sets was one of the main things I was thinking about when leaving the theatre after I saw the movie, thinking over every scene that could be a lego set and how great the figures would be, but nope

Personally I'd like there to be display diorama sorta sets. The sets that can be played with but also put up for display. I don't necessarily play with the sets I get I build them and set them on a shelf for display. Example, I bought the Hydra Stomper set awhile ago and put that on a shelf, posing the figures and the mech.

Maybe LEGO should just sell the Marvel minifigures. Any LEGO set you need for Marvel is already present in the City theme. With a few exceptions. I'm sure a lot of LEGO Marvel fans would love an X-Mansion or a Sentinel LEGO set.

This is what I have been wanting. I would really love to see dioramas for Marvel! Yes I care about the figures, but the set and figures need to be good. For instance, the new Sanctum is an amazing build while the figure quality is mostly questionable. I would be okay with a few good quality and unique minifigures paired with awesome scenes from movies (or comics). There are plenty of elements, objects, and lore that can add to the sets. When it comes to lore and objects, the Sanctum is a good example of how to implement them, or the Marvel games. If they spend the time to add easter eggs to their sets, they will need to focus less on centering them around the most popular characters. Make sets connectable like the new Hogwarts line or tie a set into another smaller one. Maybe someone decides to get a larger set around their favorite character, but there is a smaller set around a lesser know character that ties into it.

Honestly, seeing lego kinda fail at their mcu marvel line has made me really want the old comic book/cartoln marvel sets to come back

I would prefer sets like the daily bugle and the sanctum where you can play with them and display them in multiple ways to represent different movies. And now that marvel has the rights to X-men and fantastic 4 they should make sets like the daily bugle and the sanctum for the x-mansion and the Baxter building

I really hope we get more No Way Home sets when the re-release comes out.

I thought we were on a good track when they launched the "Infinity Saga" banner. I thought 'Oh, they're gonna go back and make sets for all the iconic scenes they haven't done yet!' And at first, that's what they did, with Iron Monger for example, but then they just stopped! It was only one wave? What? Come on...

I would love a Loki diorama of something like Mobius’s office. The TVA’s 60s CIA style is awesome

I think they could be inspired more sets from the comics and do more stuff like with marvel CMF. Maybe even make marvel sets based on the games they made like gwenpool set. She is just a more friendly version of Deadpool.

The Superheroes theme in general needs to focus more on location rather than vehicles or mechs I feel the exception is Batman and iron man but other than that location sets especially for Spider-Man need to be the norm

Batman shouldn't be an exception there. There are so many key locations that should exist, which could spotlight a villain. Gotham Botanical Gardens, GCPD, Blackgate prison, Ace Chemicals, The Monarch Theater, Wayne Enterprises, The Iceburg Lounge.

As long as they release a second Minifigure series covering the Disney + shows that have released since the last one, I'll be happy. I'd much rather be able to cherry pick the figures I want for a low price with those figures being way more detailed, than have to spend loads more and likely get figures and possibly sets that I don't want.

for one thing, it's completely stupid that lego didn't make any big no way home sets. there's really no other way to put it. like yeah, we got the one small sanctum, but that had almost nothing to do with the movie. there is no way to ignore how huge of a success that movie was, and i think we can all agree that not having a statue of liberty set with our multiversal villians and our spidey trio was a gigantic waste. to add onto this, i'm a really big fan of moon knight too, shame we didn't get anything from this one or any other of the great disney + shows

Yes, more big location sets, I have most of the available Lego marvel sets since i started re collecting at the end of 2020, I only have the Benetar and Bugle on my main display, the rest are dotted about on other small shelves as they aren’t that amazing

Would also like to see a Loki vs Kant set with all the different Loki variants or maybe a TVA based set. Something I don’t like about Lego marvel is that almost all the sets are about the avenger’s and Spider-Man And Lego rarely adds characters like blade or daredevil but they don’t get their own set and also instead of making sets whit the fantastic 4 or the x men and other characters Lego instead makes avengers,green goblin ,Spider-Man and a lot of vehicles and mechs

I agree with most of this video’s arguments, but just an F.Y.I. The What If series is completely canon to the MCU as said by the directors of the show.

We need a WandaVision set with the house from WandaVision with Agatha, Civilian Wanda, Human Vision, Billy, Tommy, Monica disguised in the hex, and Ralph. We also need a Falcon and Winter Soilder set from the climax with Cap. America (Sam Wilson), Bucky Barnes, The Flag Smasher, Baron Zemo with his Mask, Sharon Carter, and Batroc The Leaper. Then we need a Moon Knight set from the climax with Moon Knight, Mr. Knight, Steven Grant/Marc Spector (Double Sided Face works great for this), Khonshu, Arthur Harrow, Ammit, Layla El-Faouly, and The Scarlet Scarab. Then we need a set of the climax of Ms.Marvel with Ms.Marvel, Red Dagger, Najma, Kamran, Bruno Carrelli, Nakia Bahadir, Aamir Khan, Zoe Zimmer, and some Damage Control soilders and Agent Sadie Deever.

Finally someone mentioned it. We get so many good movies and yet no good sets for them like No Way Home, Shang-Chi, Multiverse Of Madness, Moonknight, Ms Marvel, Hawkeye, Wandavison, Falcon And The Winter Soldier and Loki. There is so much and it sucks it is starting to turn into DC less sets and the sets are worse with nothing on the new movies and we don’t want another DC do we? Edit: no, please no Illuminati too many red studs

What If is Canon, just not to the main MCU timeline, it all happened in the multiverse.

I definitely agree with *some* of what you’re saying, especially with the fact that we have had absolutely no Disney+ sets for the Marvel shows, especially when Star Wars gets at least one per show. However, I do not agree that these sets should be aimed at teens/young-adults. Yes, when it comes down to it, the movies are rated 12A and are definitely aimed towards the teen/young-adult demographic. This doesn’t mean that children aren’t going to see these movies. But truly, Lego makes toys. Sure, there’s the 18+ range with Lego actually aiming their products towards an adult audience directly, instead of hinting at it. But regardless, they’re still toys. I think we all seem to forget that our mutual love is for a childrens toy, aimed primarily at children. With Lego putting quality into their products (especially the minifigures) it’s shows they respect us as an audience, but their target demographic is children, because that’s who is buying those 4+ sets, and seeing those movies. I want better sets as much as the next Lego Collector/Fan, but I am more than aware that at the end of the day, the sets are aimed at kids.

I think there’s a difference between children and toddlers. An eight year old is probably not super interested in a 4+ set as a toy. They, like most of us, would just want the figures by that point I’d imagine. Marvel has a line of 4+ sets, so it really doesn’t need to cut into the “MCU” section… Also so what? They can’t aim something at a mixed audience? The Sanctum is clearly for more adult fans, and 4+ for toddlers, but the whole middle ground, the children/teens, should be trying to get sales from the upper end more than the latter, while not going too far towards it. They shouldn’t abandon the 4+ line in general, or play sets. No one is saying that. But they should be making things that make their audience happier in general, instead of just selling bad sets for good figures.

The Peggy Carter in MoM isn’t the same one from What If, but they likely went on the same journey to become a super soldier. Also What If is canon in the sense that every universe we see exists parallel to the main MCU, and they could possibly cross over in the future.

As a teen fan of Lego, specifically Lego marvel, I really wish there was more of an emphasis on playsets and locations, and I hate that I am at the point where I get sets mainly for the figures compared to the actual builds

I agree with a lot of points here, but what saddens me even more is that... well, at least the MCU is getting set representation. I find that the Marvel Comics side of things is even less represented, with most sets being focused on the MCU or occasionally Marvel games.

Legit if they did the diorama sets for each film AND TV show they would sell like CRAZY, make them all small so they can be stacked and put next to each other, little sets that would be a collectors dream, and that’s the exact audience the MCU sets have

2:39 different Peggy Carter. She is showing up again in S2 to pay off that Steve Rogers post credits scene. And we know they are different versions cuz the one in Multiverse of Madness died

It’s not just issues with Lego Marvel. Lego DC/Batman is on such a landslide I genuinely question if next year there will be any sets. Every year it is slimmer and worse. At least Marvel seems to be trying to do something with Marvel where as DC is getting forgotten and stepped on. It’s so sad.

I completely agree that the theme is messed up. I would love more sets like the infinity gauntlet, or location based. We need Disney+ sets! The shows are amazing and all could have great sets.

Agree, As an Spider-Man fan I hate that they don’t have many great sets for adults like how Star Wars has. Wish they had ultimate collector series, or even dioramas. They always focus on wacky stuff and random they added motorcycles in Spider-Man sets or mechs 🙃

I find it weird how every Star Wars show gets multiple sets but none of the Marvel shows get them beyond What If. Also the people saying that FATW and Moon Knight are too dark to get sets forget that The Batman got 4 sets and that movie literally begins with a man being brutally murdered by having his head incased in duct tape. The film was even rated the equivalent of an R rating in some places like the UK.

You said exactly what Iv been thinking, I do wish they made the armoury cheaper as I have been building a full scale armoury to fit all the figures.

Marvel definitely needs better sets and the shows have been some of my favorite marvel content, it makes me upset there are no sets of them.

Depending how much a set is, I'm usually a lot more interested in the set itself than the minifigures. Otherwise I'll just buy the minifigures second hand off ebay or something. I'd love to see more scene recreations and dioramas would be a great way to do it, the MCU has many iconic moments after all. How cool would it be to get one MCU diorama per movie and collect and display them all like a buildable MCU timeline?

Even thought the target demographic of MCU entertainment is teens and adults, Lego sets are perfectly justified in marketing those sets to kids. Kids will see heroes like Spiderman and Thor and won't care if it's accurate or super displayable. They want the characters.
