The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask: Familiarity in Deviation - Nav

Ойындар

The Zelda series has gotten a little bit formulaic over the years but Majora's Mask shows that you can drastically change the mechanics of Zelda while still creating an experience that feels familiar. Here's hoping Zelda Wii U trys some new things!

I love your videos, you can say everything in a very informative way, you don't sound too "robotic" reading the script, which is a problem most small youtubers have. Plus, this is the only channel where there is no haedox, so that's a +1.

Dude, I really like your review style. You somehow make it very thorough without having major spoilers. Since you take a personal approach, what you're covering feels fresh, despite the fact that so many have covered in the past. Keep doing you man. Can't wait to see more vids in the future~!!

Kristina Shuey Thanks! It's great to hear that I was able to bring something unique to the table with Majora's Mask. That's what I was going for. I tried not to tread to much of the same ground other people have.

Splendid video as always! It was nice to see a video on MM that wasn't saying what's been said thousands of times. Interesting look on the formula!

Little late finally getting around to this, but awesome job. Really great seeing the final product and I'd say you nailed it! While I really wanted to focus in on some story elements and really delve into some WHY of comments that have been repeated ad nauseam across the internet in my video, your focus is sort of the companion to mine, delving a bit more into mechanics and just providing a really refreshing take on the game overall. You certainly have a way with words, and you were able to articulate a bunch of other aspects that seem to get brushed over or explained poorly elsewhere. Again, great job and glad to have you back!

Wally The Legend Thanks Ian! I definitely tried to take a different approach knowing there were so many videos of Majora's Mask out there. Hopefully I was able to provide a unique take on a game that has been talked about so much haha.

Yo! So glad you finally got around to playing Majora! You pretty much hit the nail on head. The time system and routines in the world make it feel alive, and adds a lot of mystery. Was a really cool way to expand off the day night cycle in Ocarina.

I recently bought the remake. I don't really think it adds much to the previous, but it's nice to have it portable. Great video man, nice to have another video of one of my favourite games.

Great video Naveed! Always enjoy a good analysis of Majora's Mask. I'll admit I was worried when I saw that it was about MM, as so many have covered it in the past, but I'm glad to see you put your own spin on the analysis! And I think that comes from you only playing it recently honestly. So yeah good job! The only thing I'd say criticism-wise is something I'm sure you're already aware of, the fact that in the live-action footage you were a bit out of focus. I did notice and like the more shallow depth-of-field look to the footage, though! Good to see a new video from you, dude!

ADAMNATOR Thanks man! I was a little hesitant because of the fact that so many people have done a video on MM but I thought I had some new things to say. And yeah, I noticed the video was slightly out of focus. I need to get a subject to focus on before I record from now on XD

I'm interested to see what they do with the new Zelda that we've seen bits of. With it supposedly being a 'return to its roots' I wonder if they'll completely deviate away from the formula with an open world approach or keep the same ol' familiar flow of progression. Great work Naveed, loving the new design :D

CaptainCrypticShow Thanks Ethan! I'm super curious about what direction Nintendo takes with Zelda Wii U. I'm worried there may not be much to do in the open world but hopefully Nintendo will figure something out.

I'm tempted to think this is going to be a remake of Zelda 1, in which case it will be barren :P But I wont call it based on what's been shown so far. Its not exactly telling yet. Actually fukkit, I'll call it, if I'm right then I'll boast, if I'm wrong nobody will remember.

I was watching this video all day yesterday with lots if interruptions in-between. I watched it again today though. I played all the Zeldas when I was pretty young; 6-8 years old. But I was too young to really appreciate them. It didn't hit me until I was 12 when a friend brought over Ocarina of time. I played Final Fantasy 9 beforehand, and even with those expectations, something about seeing the world down on my level was just too cool. I loved that they reused alot of the ALTTP songs and items. Those Stal-children were the worst though! XD He ended up letting me borrow it the game. Then one day his dad up and sold his N64. So... He let me have his golden cartridge after that. Kinda depressing. But I traded a guy Pokemon Stadium 1 for Majoras Mask. And even though I owned it, I didn't have the expansion pack. So every now and again I would just stare at ths cartridge, wondering what the game might be like. I did that for TWO YEARS. Then I bought the expansion pack off one of my friends when I was 14 years old. Mind you, I had no idea that Perfect dark, a game I'd had since I was 11, had a campaign. O_O In any case, I love how you inserted Zelda sfx into the video every now and again. I really hope that Nintendo continues with the old zelds traditions while also breaking the formula now and again.

I still have to get into this game. I admit, usually when I read a game is time critical, I tend to not play it. I usually take my time, exploring, etc.... maybe also in real life I hate rushing, looking at the clock all the time :D . But I will give this another try though, indeed it's different. Will check it out. So far my favorite Zelda game is Skyward Sword, I simply loved it. My first Zelda was the Gamecube one, I did order the extra disc with Ocarina and this one. But I admit, I hadn't played them, maybe because I was a bit spoiled by graphics at the time. But I did enjoy Ocarina of Time on 3DS, an amazing game indeed. And I also really liked the ones from the DS. Unlike most Zelda fans out there, I really like them 3D (even if it's 2D). I did play some of the original 2D ones, but I admit.... e.g. Zelda 1 and 2, really not something I played.
